Devin Clarin

My name is Devin and I’m a POC barista that works around the Bay Area. My pronouns are he and him. What really inspires me are textures but recently I’ve started photographing people more. I find myself to be an artist of opportunity, one that works with whatever inspires me in the moment.

What does "liberation" mean to you?

Liberation to me means freedom. It can be freedom from the oppression of the government or freedom of the weight of your own emotions. Liberation to me I guess feels like a weight off of my shoulders

Is your creative practice one of liberation?

I feel that some of my photos can feel liberating and give a sense of peace to the viewer. Pumping out photos that don’t need editing feels fantastic and gives me a sense of inner peace

How can art be a tool in the revolution?

Art can be a tool to spread useful information and spark dialogues that need to be talked about

Share a little bit about your creative process!

I go out and shoot whatever is appealing to me and I mainly just use the rule of thirds and following angle lines
