It begins with a look at private space in Indonesia and India, then moves into the ways artists like Constantine Cavafy and Bob Dylan have presented the concept of home, and finally the author's own family memories are excavated. The essay moves back and forth in its three sections from forms of placelessness that negate home to strategies for discovering home.
