This visual essay looks at the site of the annual pilgrimage to the al-Badawi Mosque in Tanta, Egypt. The site was the home to 13th century Sufi saint Ahmed al-Badawi, and it became the site for an annual Mawlid celebration that brings up to three million people from around the delta and Egypt broadly to the city. I visit the city and look around at the accommodations for pilgrims.
