6 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

T

o be sitting here with Shohreh Aghdashloo is extremely exciting for me, and truly an honor to meet her in person. She is not only a talented actress, whom I have followed for many years, but she is also very kind and gentle. From her standout-starring role in the movie House of Sand and Fog in 2003, where she played a simple housewife, to playing the roll of the High Command of the Federation in Star Track and Beyond in 2016, she has certainly proven to Hollywood that she is an actress with impressive acting abilities. Here are just few of the other projects she has worked on: The Exorcism of Emily Rose, American Dreamz, The Stoning of Soraya M, On the Inside, and Septembers of Shiraz, just to name a few. She has also appeared in several television series including, Matlock, Martin, Will & Grace, House of Saddam, Law & Order, and is currently Season 2 of The Expanse, her Sci-Fi series. Shohreh Aghdashloo moved to England during the Iranian Revolution in 1979, subsequently becoming a U.S. citizen. Aghdashloo married actor/playwright Houshang Touzie, who after the Iranian Revolution, he moved to New York to pursue a career in acting and drama, where he met well-known Iranian actors like Behrooz Vosooghi and Parviz Sayyad. He was offered a role in "Ferestadeh" in 1983, and in 1985 he moved from New York to Los Angeles. Shohreh received her first Academy Award nomination in the Best Supporting actress category for the film House of Sand and Fog in 2003. Then in 2009, she won a Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her work on House of Saddam. While she was getting ready to go up to Canada to film The Expanse, she managed to arrange to do this interview with me. With great honor, here is my interview with the remarkable actress and friend Shohreh Aghdashloo.

1. How did you decide to become an actress? I guess I was born an actor. It all started at our family gatherings on Fridays back in Iran, when I was fourteen or fifteen years old. I come from a large family so you can imagine the amount of aunts, uncles, and cousins. We were almost forty people. I was summoned to entertain the family as soon as the food was elaborately served. I started reciting poetry and soon enough I started imitating each and every one of them. They would all laugh their hearts out.

8. Which character has been your favorite character to perform? They are all like my children and they are all my favorites. If I had to choose, I would say that Nadi Behrani in the House of Sand and Fog, and Zahra in the Stoning of Soraya are probably my favorites. 9. What are your strong points as an actor? I am a hardworking person and I never give up.

2. How long have you been an actress and where did take your first acting classes? I started at the Drama Workshop of Tehran when I was nineteen years old and I have been acting ever since.

10. What have you learned from the directors that you have worked with throughout your career? Many things, but my favorite is the one my first stage director taught me. he said " no matter how you feel in real life, put it in to your acting and let your character takes care of your feelings."

3. How many plays have you done thus far? Almost twenty, including the last one in Iran that I got to rehearse, but then did not have a chance to play the role due to my sudden departure from Iran during the political turmoil that led to the revolution.

11. How do you think film stars handle their popularity? Some know how to deal with their popularity and some do not. It depends on their background, age, and education.

4. How many films have you performed in? I have performed in twenty-five films and a variety of major television series.

12. Which kinds of roles do you prefer? The roles that are at service of humanity.

5. What kinds of roles have you performed throughout your career? Are you satisfied with them? I have performed a variety of roles from a voiceless woman, Nadi Behrani, in House of Sand and Fog, to a fearless woman in The Stoning of Soraya M, and I am satisfied with each and every one of them. A lot of love, research, and of course time, has been put into all of them. 6. How different is it to act in a movie than to act in a theater play? Acting on the stage is mostly about projection, though on the contrary "Less is More" in acting in the movies. 7. Do you ever think that you could have done things differently in your life? Only if I were a Mother of five children living in Peace, and Harmony.

10 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

13. What is the hardest part about being a celebrity? Sleep deprivation. 14. Give me a few tips about how to be a successful actor? Be yourself, be creative, read as much as you can, including daily newspapers. Walk or swim, and watch the news and classic films as much as you can. 15. Who is your favorite actor? There are a lot of them but Marlon Brando is still at the top of my list. 16. In the movie, The Stoning of Soraya M, you were simply amazing. How do you feel about the character you portrayed? This film is like a badge of honor for me. My character Zahra is the most fearless woman I have ever come across in life. I am so proud of her and the film.

12 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e May 2016

17. I personally can relate to your book, The Alley of Love and Yellow Jasmines, as an Iranian who witnessed the revolution in Iran. What made you want to write this book? The lack of general knowledge about modern history of Iran, and the Wrong images of Iranians in the international news. my first and formost aim was to write a background on us, who we are , where we are coming from, and why we are here. 18. In 2009 you won an Emmy for your role in House of Saddam as the first Iranian woman in history to have done so. How did you feel in front of all the other actors in the room when they called your name? I felt so proud to be awarded such a prestigious award from my peers. At the same time however, I was also thinking of the millions of Iranians whose hearts were with me. 19. You are so popular among both Iranians and Americans. They both love you. How do you think you achieved this popularity? I love People. Love to observe and absorb them . they are the source of my Inspiration, Joy, and Energy. 20. Are you working on any new projects? I just finished Star Trek and I am now working on the second season of The Expanse, which is an amazing science fiction television series on the SYFY channel. 21. What is your message to your fans? I simply love you.

The forgotten Voice; stray dogs of Abadiania

A featured story written by Heike Stenzel

If you have men who will exclude any of God´s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, ou will have men who will deal likewise with heir fellow men.” ~St. Francis of Assisi

22 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

Saint Francis was born in Assisi, close to Rom in Italy in 1182. Well known as a patron, preacher and friar he followed all what Jesus said and did. A saint of compassion and love for all beings with certainty involved animals, alike those without a home to go.

does not have capacity left to take on further stray dogs. They do an amazing work and host about 400 dogs. This organization is a non-profit group called ASPAAN- Associacao Protetora e Amiga dos Animais (Protective Association and Friend of the Animals).

Following story shared; will give those animals; who have silent out by mankind; a voice; now!

But miracles occur; and this happened when Vivian Mauro, an amazing lady from New York who accompanies groups from the States as an Official John of God Casa Guide since 2004, arrived.

Either it happened un-intentionally or simply by not knowing better or may it be the lack of education that animals have been forgotten of what treasure they carry within, often we call “unconditional love” and they own equal respect in return. Knowing this, a enlightened trail leads us to a remote area; called Abadiania in Brazil - here we find the Casa St. Ignatius Of Loyola that attracts thousands of visitors from all around the world, who pass in front of John of God for healing of any kind. A place of extraordinary high vibrations and a vortex; as it is said, the Casa is build on a huge Crystal formation; where the veil from the physical to the spiritual world is so thin, that prayers may come into matter by almost instant manifestation. It is no surprise that dogs are drawn to this place. They simply follow the energy of love, and by that find people abandon dogs and puppies, because they know of the stream of international visitants that may adopt those street dogs. But many have been forgotten, neglected, abandoned and mistreated, lacking nourishment, love and the care to have enough food and water to exist in a respected way of well being on planet Earth. The community is poor themselves, castration are not a common method to avoid the breeding and the result are, that puppies being born facing abandonment; ending up on the streets without sufficient nourishment that a dog really requires. There are no active pet shelters in Abadiania and one that existed was forced to close, because of lack of financial foundation and not having the ability to provide the necessary basics, such as food and water. The nearest pet shelter and clinic is in Anapolis, but

Over the years Vivian Mauro recognized how much the situation of the homeless dogs worsened and following her inner guidance, she decided in 2014 to make Abadiania her new home to pursue the model of ASPAAN to become a model as well in Abadiania. She voiced a few of the interview questions as follows: Heike Stenzel: When did you feel the calling to do something to help these abandon stray dogs?” Vivian Mauro: “I felt the need to do something after seeing all the suffering and lack of care from the locals. Because Abadiania is a transient community (most people stay for 10 days.) There was no one who offered to help. There was an animal’s shelter here years ago, but they had to shut down because of lack of food. All the animals had to be let go on the street again. In 2014 I asked to be shown my mission... and the dog project appeared!” Heike Stenzel: How much time do you spend on helping them? Vivian Mauro: I work non- stop for the animals. I do 2-3 rescues a week. Arrange pet travel, check on animals in treatment, fundraise, organize castration clinics, and walk my dogs daily. Very time consuming. Most of my emails and phone calls deal with animals.” “Our non- profit group - Association to Protect Animals of Abadiania is now official! This took a year!” “There is also an education side that is crucial. I have been to 8 elementary schools with a local vet, teaching children how to take care of cats and dogs and showing WSPCA DVDs on, „Animals Are My Friends." That was over 1000 children who heard our talk. Our next challenge is how to educate the community. "Awareness is the mother of all transformation". 23 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

Vivian passion goes beyond. She continues eagerly to find a way to give those dogs a place for treatment and protection. Hoping to find a piece of land by donation to build a clinic for veterinary examination and medical care; and the opportunity to find them a home, where they are lovingly welcomed and taken care in the best way possible. By this, it is a great acknowledgement that Vivian Mauro was able to help 38 animals! 27 rescues and 11 got the right treatment they needed at that time. She herself lives with 7 dogs – all rescues and sharing a touching story that happened five years ago, where Lucy a stray dog found her way to Vivian. Lucy, the female dog suffered from Cancer and in an emergency surgery the cancer tumor was removed by the veterinarian, Dr. Marcelo Da Silva, which was a lifesaving operation! Now Lucy lives a good dog’s life a dog truly deserves in the United States. Vivian Mauro´s amazing work unfolds and continues. 23 dogs have been adopted internationally by now; with the goal for more of those doings to hit the ground in positive ways. I asked Vivian Mauro if her 10 years experience as a John of God Casa Guide influenced her with the work she does for animals and this is what she replied. Vivian Mauro: “Yes, my experience here as a guide has a very positive influence on my work with the animals. Since we are living in a world vortex and situated on the biggest crystal mine in Brazil the pure Divine Cosmic Light that we are absorbing also has an effect on the animals. We meditate at the Casa and the dogs sleep at the Casa all day. The work here is an opening up of the heart where compassion starts. Many fall in love with the Casa animals. The animals actually choose them, not the other way around. People always tell me the dogs are so calm here and so loving. They are doing the same work as we do. Dogs are on the 5th dimension and teach us how to forgive and show us unconditional love. We only live in the 3rd dimension where forgiveness and love can be a challenge. We as humans think too much. Animals live in their heart; they never lie - St Francis of Assisi makes my work possible and countless Entities who do the healing work here as well. Here there exists a very 24 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

thin veil between heaven & earth where it is very easy to manifest what you need.” This is an incredible sharing, isn´t it? Vivian Mauro shares that some tourist stepped in, to help her. Some helpful hands that provided her with supplies, others volunteering time to rescue, many have made donation; but mostly she does this profound works alone. For this, she is very grateful to receive donation to make this project a flourishing non-profitable organization, based in the good and best intention of those animals in need. Vivian felt encouraged to step up and show that the situations in Abadiania with the animals are a serious problem that not only needs public attention but also interaction by the community. She was able to address it to the Mayor and the local City Hall. With a glare of hope; as they drafted a Plan of Action for a non-profit organization and promised the permission for a rental free piece of land – Unfortunately so far, they have not followed through with this. Disappointed about the turn, she does not give up and felt inspired to involve the public to bring the message out by dog programs, commercial on TV to the importance of castration, and many more to come to shed light on the darkness. What Brazil lacks in the moment is the education about the animals and her 26 years experience as a teacher becomes Vivian new assignment - a mission she follows from her Heart – helping those stray dogs in Abadiania! Vivian continues “Society needs to become more compassionate. Sensitivity, awareness and consciousness for the animals all are needed in order for the planet to ascend.” She underlines the importance for those who are visiting Abadiania and there for only a short period of time, that it does not serves the dogs best, when they take stray dogs into the hotel rooms, which is not permitted. Dogs are living beings with feelings and become attached to the person who takes care of them for the short period of time and feel gob smacked and heart broken when those leave in a taxi and never return to the dog. She continues by saying “I saw a dog once

chasing the taxi that got killed on the highway. The tourists dog their needs met by hosting the dog, but it ends up homeless and sometimes completely broken emotionally. Heike Stenzel: If someone wants to adopt a dog, what do they need to know? Vivian Mauro: “Most important is to get the dog a blood test for diseases and also a vaccination for protection and a good bath. It is rare, but some dogs here have cinomose or distemper and this is a fatal and highly infectious disease. So before you bring a street dog home have it tested. Many tourists take strays into their hotel room and this is not recommended.”

iGOD

A Documentary Film About the Film In 1993, Karen Armstrong published a book entitled A History of God: The 4000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. A reviewer wrote: “Is the Universe wholly apart from God, or is Creation in some sense, a part of God? Is God solely One in nature, or is there a Threeness, or a Manyness, or an Infinitude to God? Is God knowable or beyond knowledge? Is God personal or impersonal? Does God have feelings?” Questions about the nature of God have been haunting humankind for far more than four thousand years. Various beliefs about the nature of God have shaped human history, and been the direct cause of repetitive cycles of individual violence, warfare between nations, hatred, genocide, and wholesale slaughter of entire cultures and civilizations. Even in this age of science and technology, ethnic and religious warfare continues unabated. Barbarism, exploitation, the suppression of women, the debasing of human dignity flourishes on the planet. Because no one has ever been able to define God, most religions require faith, and have created over the millennia rituals and dogma which separate one from the other. All believe they have the right answers, the right explanations, the one truth. Leaders of nations have used religion to justify any actions they wish to justify, even to destroying the very planet that gives us all life. It is time that the nature of God is examined beyond faith, and beyond reason. It is the purpose of this documentary to first trace the origins of the concept of God, and how the various beliefs and doctrines have evolved to the present day. This includes the extraordinary wisdom in the series of books called Conversations with

God. It is not our intention to suggest that there is only one way to the “truth,” but to present the many beliefs about the nature of God, and perhaps discover if there is a way for humans to understand God. The questions that faith cannot answer will be asked . . . and perhaps answered. Questions that have plagued thinkers for many centuries: What is good and evil? Why does God answer some prayers and not others? Why does an omnipotent, all-powerful God allow holocausts and genocides to happen, and children to starve? Is there a devil? Is there really a heaven and a hell? We will talk with many of the world’s great religious and spiritual leaders in addressing these questions, and in looking at the varied points of view and beliefs about God. We will examine the many beliefs about the nature of God. Perhaps it will change the way people look at their own beliefs. Because that is where it has to begin. With ordinary people. Institutions are the last to change. Long-entrenched theologies and dogmatic structures are the last to accept the notion that they may not have the whole truth. Heisenberg said that “science progresses one death at a time.” Unfortunately, most ideologies, most religious practices, most cultures and civilizations have only shifted at the point of a sword or a gun. The earth cannot afford that method any longer. The weapons are too powerful. We must at least try to understand who we really are, why we are here, what God really is, what God really wants. Before it’s too late for us all. iGOD is a film that will be watched again and again, as we hope to engender an ongoing dialogue on God, and examine the possibility that humankind has misunderstood the nature of God. Perhaps it is time to explore those misunderstandings. Perhaps if God could say only one thing to the human race, he just might say, “You’ve got me all wrong!” 29 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

About the Creators Co- producer Neale Donald Walsch is a modern-day spiritual messenger whose work has touched the lives of millions. He has written twenty-nine books on contemporary spirituality in the twenty years since he reported having an experience in which he felt the presence of the Divine, began writing questions to God on a yellow legal pad, and received answers in a process that he describes as exactly like taking dictation. What emerged from that encounter was the nine-part Conversations with God series, which has been published in every major language of the world series, which has been published in every major language of the world. Mr. Walsch has told his readers and the media— which has brought global attention to his experience—that everyone is having conversations with God all the time, and that the question is not: To whom does God talk? The question is: Who listens? He says his whole life has been changed as a result of his own decision to listen. He took notes on the questions in his heart and the answers he was receiving, so that he would always remember his exchanges with Deity. It wasn't until later that he realized he was being invited to place these words into the world, as one of many throughout history who have made their very best effort to hear and to articulate God's messages. He knows that everyone is receiving these messages, and invites all people everywhere to both share them and live them as best they can, for Neale believes the world would change overnight if only a fraction of its people embraced God’s most important message of all: You’ve got me all wrong. Co-producer Robert S. Friedman, the founder of Rainbow Ridge Books, LLC, grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia, attended Woodrow Wilson High School and the University of Virginia, where he earned a B.A. in English. Seven Steps to Creating a Life of Miracles and Joy By Joseph Gallenberger, Ph.D

Many of us face challenging times in finances, career, relationships, or health at some point in our lives. We may feel powerless against the economic, social, and family forces around us and live our lives feeling bogged down or hampered by our circumstances, not knowing how to change our lives for the better. I have found that we can indeed have tremendous influence over what quality of life we experience. In my book, Inner Vegas: Creating Miracles Abundance, and Health, I explore in detail the idea that are things we can do to create an enhanced, abundant reality for ourselves. I back my discoveries with current science and the experience of hosting over sixty-five Inner Vegas Adventure™ workshops over the past 15 years. In these workshops we use the casino as a classroom to learn how to create desired outcomes consistently. When we are in the right pattern of energy we achieve results that would only occur once in a thousand times by chance.

In my home study course, SyncCreation®, these thoughts are translated into the tools and exercises for its students to achieve this power in their broader lives, producing miracles of healing and joyful manifestations in finances, careers, and relationships. From my experience with this work I have found the following seven principles that I consider essential to creating a life of happiness, good health, and abundance: Step One - Positive manifestation is empowered by positive energy. The highest quality and most powerful energy flows from a loving heart. So regardless of what is happening in your life now, live as much as possible in open-hearted gratitude and compassion. Find things, regardless of how small, to celebrate about yourself, all others, and the universe. Appreciating beauty and grace in all their forms can help take you there. Even simply putting your hand over your heart and bringing your awareness there, will help quiet the overactive mind and serve to increase your heart power. Step Two - Being well-grounded (which means being strongly connected to the present moment here/now, and not worrying about the past or future) is a key secret to potent creation. Bring your awareness and spirit fully into your body; suffuse your body with energy and light; listen to what your body and emotions are saying to you, as they are brimming with wise guidance. Then feel a strong connection with the earth, so that you are fully spirit and flesh at the same time. Step Three - View the spiritual world as solid, strong, and real – and the physical world as highly changeable by your energy and thought. Spirit is the foundation from which to change the physical. Use the affirmation: "I now claim my dominion and create my reality" to reinforce your position of responsibility and effectiveness.

33 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

Step Four - To form your goals, discover what would make your heart sing if unfettered by limits. Worthy goals are to be treasured as they excite your heart and create passion. See your dream as if it were real right now, fully enjoying how good this manifestation will feel and how it will benefit others. When starting to focus on something that you desire to create, invite your intentions to have surprisingly positive results. Be open to the delightfully unexpected. Remember – patience sweetens passion! It can take time for strongly negative patterns to change to positive ones, so note and appreciate even small signs of progress.

Step Seven - Send positive energy and non-judgment to everyone. See what will help them express themselves most joyfully in this moment (rather than just what they can do for you), for this attracts others to help and guide you. Be joyfully generous with yourself and others, in terms of money, smiles, time, attention, and thought, and the universe will be generous with you. Happy Manifesting!

Step Five - Detach from results and from the way “it has to happen” with full trust that goodness will come to you in the manner and timing that is best for your highest purpose. Refresh your energy and visualizations of what you desire organically, when it feels right to do so. Obsessively pushing for what you want implies lack of trust and is counterproductive. Step Six - Remember - Fear is expensive and love is priceless—choose wisely. Fear is truly a prayer for what you do not want. To manifest smoothly and quickly, your desire must be substantially greater than your fear. For example, if your fear of being jobless is greater than your desire to find the best job for you, then it is likely that your fear will be manifested rather than your ideal job. It is like a balance scale, where if on one side fear is at 60% and desire on the other side is at 40%, it is likely that you will get more of what you fear. If fear is occupying 40% of your energy and thought, and desire 60%, then manifestation of what you want is more likely but often accompanied by glitches and slowness. As you approach 20% fear and 80% desire it is likely that what you desire will manifest strongly and quickly. You do not have to be perfect in this. Some fear is a natural part of anything new. Fear in all its forms, from procrastination, doubt, cynicism, impatience, self-criticism, etc., can be very challenging to release, especially if it is held in life-long patterns. Use meditation, prayer, friendships, coaches, and courses to help you release these limits. Yet sometimes all that is needed is to simply and non-judgmentally notice a fear, see that it no longer serves you, and then just imagine gently bubbling it away. 34 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

The Blind Practice of Separation while Clutching the Rabbits Foot with a Postive Mindset If a great source was the Cause of all things then you and I and everything else on this planet are the end result, the Effect!!! Hello brothers and sisters, I am you are family. What a bitch we are all connected!!! And yet we live in a world of opposites.

THERE IS LAUGHTER IN THE AIR TODAY

by Michael White Ryan www.languageofspace.com

Once upon a time some so called respected scholar made a big discovery and announced to mankind, a statement suggesting the world was made up of Positive and Negative. Unfortunately most drank the cool-aid, and even though we are now in the 21st century and should know better, alas most are still accepting that Positive and Negative are separated. Not to be confused with negativity, Positive and Negative are family, It doesn’t take much intelligence to notice divisions in the world at every area of existence, so where does this come from and what can we do to fix it. These divisions come from the creators living on this planet still waking up to whom and what are we!!! The essence of all life is one and the same, passed on to us humans for safe distribution. Therefore division comes from within the creators and is executed externally by a creative mind divorced from the compassionate mind, our heart center.

There is much confusion around these terms of selfconfidence and self-esteem. For example a person in their particular field who is a top athlete, a successful CEO, an awarded builder or great mother may identify with that talent to boost their level of selfconfidence. It’s a valuable asset to boost ones character identity and yet if their understanding of self includes a lack of personal value, then separation becomes the end name game and dual creation continues to breathe its ugly head. Sickness in the mind, sickness in the body, sickness in the world, Hence the heart and mind remain apart and for those persons actively engaged in wanting to evolve personally or who in business strive for greater success, we are still being subjected to that false idea that mindset is everything. Think about this for a moment, everyone has exploded with the idea to think outside the box, then we listen or buy a book that says if you want to be successful then do what successful people have done in the past. To expand and evolve one’s future self by repeating the past, is segregation not evolution. Hello, is this madness? Are we that blind in our intelligence??? This is just another practice of separation we are unaware of, which we validate in order to achieve what the separated “I” wants. Yeh, Yeh its let’s get back into the washing machine, I am so happy spinning in circles, dazed and confused. So we run off to a place where we can plant our trust (heart) in the lap of some guru, mentor, teacher, lecture, book or big Tony. Does it really matter or make a difference if one is forging ahead successfully, now active, wide awake and sprouting the Positive on everyone we meet, if inside one is still operating between thrive and survive? Know thyself is the beginning of all foundations, for without it one is constantly floating between pockets of happiness and doubt. In a world of connectivity we are educated on how to advance by fulfilling our own personal needs, a connection while remaining separated from all that is. The Universe is a living friend and I often ponder why as individuals most have never contemplated introduced themselves. This weekend I met two women who are starting businesses for women only. The power of sisterhood is huge as is the singular power in men’s groups. The question which remains hanging 38 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

in the ether, once the separation patterns are created, how does the-we evolve while constantly rebuilding separation with valid subjective reasoning? Here we are in the 21st century, educated and still practicing segregation!!! It shows as a collective we are still not up for the challenge, it appears we are forever stuck in a zone unwilling to evolve under a creators power, while maintaining a choice consciousness of Free Will. The palm leaves dance to the music in the breeze while the sun still shines, all is well. Blessings to all, Michael

The Treasure Within by Frank Daly

As I settle into this blissful place life’s treasures are placed at my feet How can this be just in arms reach? Do I deserve this while others limbs are nowhere near? Distracted by my worth a cloud of thieves make off with my pleasure Perplexed in darkness over what transpired Too heavy for my soul to bare, distraction becomes my only friend Clarity is restored to find nothing had ever been squandered A turn from my true north was my only foe 40 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

When we observe the world around us, we recognize patterns both in our physical and psychological reality. In the physical world, the patterns seem easier to explain. For example, when focusing on an inanimate object, such as a bowling ball, we can easily predict the outcome as it moves down a fixed ramp. If we simply know the weight and mass of the ball as well as the angle of the ramp, a mathematical equation will tell us precisely where the ball will rest.

object that brings us pleasure and feel good, but when that object changes or disappears we fall from grace. There are too many variables to consider in the external world that we cannot control.

How can we calculate the psychological world? How can we understand the breadth or our thoughts in the same manner?

The thing to remember is when we allow ourselves to feel good and express it by doing something we enjoy (playing music, dancing, writing, painting, etc.) we realize that it is not those activities that were the source of our happiness, they are simply ways that we express ourselves when we feel good. In return they help to perpetuate and maintain this good feeling state.

Many view the world as random and chaotic, but when we have a broader view of what is going on around us we will be able to see all the moving parts and understand how they come together in harmony to create one complete orchestration. We are then at the vantage point to make a conscious choice. We can choose to continue in the direction of our current path, or we can navigate to new terrain.

The simple letting go of what is bothering us is how we find our way back to this good feeling place. It is the same as when we find ourselves lost in the woods. At the moment we feel lost we pull out the compass and without effort every time it finds true north. Once we regain our sense of direction we are no longer lost, we know what action to take and the adventure continues.

This broader perspective is obtained by first allowing ourselves to get to a good feeling place. When we are experiencing joy for any reason we will automatically expand. This truly is the secret we all have been searching, ironically, it is has been right in front of us all along.

Choose any path that works for you in order to get to a place of feeling good. For example, mediating in order to quiet the mind and detach from thoughts, walking in nature to restore our natural internal balance, or distracting ourselves with an object we find pleasing to draw our attention away from a negative state.

Feeling good is always our first goal because it is never a place, thing, person or experience that creates happiness, it is happiness that creates a desired outcome. So many times we have it backward, we think that when we obtain our desires we will be happy. But the truth is, once we are happy our desires will manifest without effort. The most important question now is how do we get to this good feeling place? On the surface the answer will be slightly different for everyone, but at the core it is exactly the same Oftentimes, when we find ourselves feeling good we have a compulsion to take inventory, looking to the external world for an explanation. We hope that when we become lost, we can find our way back to this place by arranging the outside world in the manner it was when we felt good. When we examine this approach we begin to understand that this method is not the answer. Certainly it is possible to observe an

Our only goal is to maintain a good feeling and from this place life’s treasures will be placed at our feet.

A Case of Mistaken Identity

by Roxana Jones

http://roxanajones.com/

44 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

One of my readers noticed a few weeks back that I am always insisting on the fact we should all remember to be love. Furthermore, he asked if I could explain how he could “be love.” Being love is something that is remembered through personal experience. Each and every one of us is already love, even criminals in jail facing death sentences. But the sad truth is that the majority in this planet still prefers matter to spirit and so, they remain living a mistaken identity and disconnected from their true nature, to the point that when they read or listen to words confirming that their true nature is love, they automatically allow their egos to deny it and continue to fill their brains with more beliefs of not knowing what they already know. If being love is a personal experience that must be remembered by the individual, I won’t be able to write about the unique experience of that individual. What I will do then, is share some of the things which we are definitely NOT. The intention of this exercise is to discard the layers of all that which the ego is constantly making us believe that we are, so that at the end we can ponder on what is left: We are not our names or last names: These are only labels we use to distinguish ourselves as individuals that require living in society and therefore need to be legally recognized. We are not our life stories: Our past has been built by us until today to learn the lessons that are allowing us to fulfill our life purpose (even if we don’t consciously know what that life purpose is) but it is only that, a magnificent and often times miraculous story. We are not the material “stuff” we have acquired or keep acquiring through our work, job, projects, etc. Those things that give us comfort and make our egos feel less or more than the rest are made of matter that stays here on Earth once we are ready to move on to our next level of evolution through “death” and which, for that “matter”, is simply a dematerialized state of being. We are not the degrees, diplomas or titles we have studied or earned. These are means we humans use as part of our search for our life purpose so it is easy to get confused and identify ourselves completely with

what we “do” and not with what we are. We are not our physical bodies as these are only vessels we need to survive in this world and accomplish our exclusive life purpose. When we understand this exclusivity, we are able to see that life is not about wanting to be like someone else because we already are all that we need. Now then, please leave the list and ask yourself this question: What is left of YOU once you accept you are NOT any of the above “layers” of who you are supposed to be? It seems as if you are left with nothing isn’t it? Precisely! And this allows me to congratulate you because it means you have done the exercise wonderfully well. Why? Because we must realize we are no-thing before we can understand that we are love, and we must realize all the “distractions” that surround us (amazing distractions I must admit) to be able to treat them and live them only as such. There was a time in my life when I had created such an amazing “story” full of degrees, diplomas, fancy last names, cars, homes, money and so many other “distractions”, that it was being impossible for me to realize the love I truly was. Seeing my inability, life took charge and left me with nothing of all that I had built for 37 years. It was the only way I was able to change my beliefs of not knowing what I already knew. And you want to know what the best of being left with nothing was? That I was able to create new “stuff” all over again but this time using love, the love that you and I are! Today, being the love that I am, practicing the love that I am, not only allows me to create the best life I can but also to see the world in such a different way. You see, the world that you and I share is so beautiful and perfect through my eyes that no matter how many wars, economic crisis, natural disasters, raped women, or dying children you are able to mention to me, I will still “know” that my love is improving all of that and that this is how I am getting to change our world. And so, now that you know what you are not, wouldn’t you want to give it a try? Until next time and don’t forget to be love,

A Rose Grew out of a Bush of Thorns

by Aura Imbarus, Ph.D. 52 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

Nobody can truly forget the country, either good or bad, he/she was born in and has given him/her roots. I left my alma mater in 1997, but that didn’t mean that I forgot my origin. I left my parents in tears when the plane took off, but I didn’t stop loving them. And like every ending has a new beginning, so was my case. After 19 years, I went back to my cradle, to the mysterious land of Dracula through my memoir, “Out of the Transylvania Night.” And it is not only me who has found a way, a link to his/her past. We all leave some open doors, cracked windows, rusty anchors as symbols to our ties to our native town or maybe just long forgotten memories of a blushed sunset. The same eerie land, filled with myths, legends, and folktales became the starting point of my book, the spring of my relived life, the incipient phase of my down-the-memory journey. Why do we have to acknowledge that the most beautiful things are born out of the most horrendous pains? It is so true and so sad, at the same time. My book grew out of an immense ache, carved in my soul by the news of cancer, the invincible disease that was hunting my beloved Mother. My mind, tortured and estranged from my body, started knitting the memories of my childhood, of a worry free adolescence, when living under the cruel regime of Nicolae Ceausescu was a daunting everyday experience. The bleakness of the streets contrasted vividly with the calm, warm, sincere, and welcoming embrace of my parents. The same hide-and –seek places, the same Cibin river where I used to ice-skate, the one and only Hospital Number 3, harboring the mental diseased ones, my tall and imposing chestnuts I used to climb and loose the track of hours, all of them were invading my mind. The race against time started, for I needed to prove my mom in the remaining months of her life that my muse was still fresh, that my pen was still sharp and pointed. I had to write, to find a publisher, and to leave her with something she can hold onto. Something perennial! Nights were long, and the dawn was creeping in earlier that I had ever wished. One by one, one on top of the other until my life, my memoir of 384 pages was finished. It is about my Mother, my Dad, my Buni (my Grandma), my Grandpa, my ancestors and my lineage. It is about a powerful family, who was kneed by the Communist regime, stripped

by its properties and haunted for his willingness to stand up and talk against the regime. Many of us saw life in Romania in pink shades; others in dark ones. Some flourished, few survived. This memoir is testimony of a life that was lived in Transylvania, in an amazing family who has given me the power to be myself up and follow my dreams. My Mom passed away but on the same day a book was born. A beautiful rose grew out of a bush of thorns….the thorns of despair…the thorns of survival! Aura Imbarus, Ph.D. is an awarded educator, freelance journalist, and author of “Out of the Transylvania Night,” a memoir detailing her life in Romania during the communist regime. Her latest work, “Returning Home: A Journey of Finding Oneself ” is due out in early 2016. She has a BA in Foreign Languages; MA in American and British Literature; PhD in World Humanities. She has been teaching high school and college level classes in So Cal since 1998. Aura was featured on NBC, ABC, CNBC, Good Morning San Diego, Forbes Romania, etc. Aura is the Cultural Director of Viitorul Roman, a California Nonprofit Cultural and Aid Society. She is also the President and Co-Founder of RAPN- Romanian American Professional Network and President of EuroCircles in LA. She is on the Board of Wesley Foundation, UCLA, a Reconciling Community & Immigrant Welcoming Community, and she is involved with Scott. J. Schwartz Foundation helping children with disabilities.” She writes for The Global Woman Magazine in London, Beverly Hills Times Magazine, The Immigrant, Hermannstader Zeitung in Transylvania and she also works as a freelance journalist for Entertainment and Sports Today!

REMEMBERING THE WONDER OF YOU By Jan Diana

Greetings, My Beloved Children of light, “My message today is from my heart to yours. As we approach this union of time with each other, let us take a moment to ponder on the wonder of ourselves. We are such delightful beings are we not! Imagining this wonder will open your hearts to receive my message for you today. In the journey of life, you have dreamed to experience great wonders. Yes, you planned; let us call it an itinerary of great wonders to experience. Of course you were all-knowing when you made your plans, very aware and very excited. Now you are in the timeframe of awakening to these plans. You are in the midst of recognizing and remembering more of your true self, that wise, loving being of infinite potential. Let us ponder on this for a moment, Take this thought in, that you are a wonder, that you have innate abilities to live and experience those beautiful plans which you made for your life. This thought of being a wonder, is stimulating a brain search, questions arising. “How can I be a wonder when I am having experiences that are less than what I desire? How may I make a greater connection to my true

self? What are my plans and how may I achieve them?” As your brain is searching for the answers, you may hear the voice of the ego program file, the naysayer, which tries to negate your value through random inner dialogue. Telling you and trying to prove to you that you are less than your true wonder. It is a program file that suggests lesser value and is not your truth. The voice of the ego program file speaks of fear, distress, and limitations. It tries to keep you diverted, as if chasing rabbits, instead of being focused and in peace. Let us recognize this voice for what it is and what it is not, for it is not the voice of your truth. What is the voice of my truth and how will I recognize it? The voice of truth is loving, sweet, peaceful, kind, never fearful, never speaks of lesser value. The voice of truth speaks of lightness, and joy always offering loving, support, wisdom and guidance. With the knowledge of what the flavor of your voice of truth is, as you stimulate a brain search through questions, it will be easier for you to become aware and to recognize truth. Just as the Masters of light speak only of truth that is uplifting and free of any judgments of lesser value, so does your true self. Your knowing self, that sweet truth of self, answers you with truth that illuminates and blesses, offering wisdom and guidance. 57 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

Now with a discerning heart you will be able to recognize the voice of authentic truth. Isn’t it wonderful to know how to seek for the answers which you long to hear and know? Here is a simple exercise which you can use to help you connect to your voice of truth. First become heart centered. Be in your heart. Place your hand on your heart and breathe into your heart a few deep slow breaths. While breathing think or say the words, I love myself, I love myself, I love myself. Now that you are centered in your heart, ask the questions, “Who am I? What is my truth?” Be in the moment and listen. You may hear, sense, or feel the answers as they flow to you in sweet whispers. Asking the questions stimulates the search and will bring forth answers. When you feel your true self ’s response, it will be of sweetness and joy. Let yourself be with this for a moment as the message from your sacred self is being transmitted to you now through your heart. Allow yourself to be open to receive this blessing. As you receive, you will begin to feel a stirring of remembering. Senses perhaps you have been unaware of, are now opening up and awakening. The pathway of recognizing and remembering is igniting, expanding and developing. This is a new beginning for you. As you approach each new moment of your life, you can feel a greater connection to your true self. As you do, pathways will open, presenting opportunities for further advancements in knowing your divine nature, your sweet truth and what you planned for your life journey. Communing with yourself in this conscious way, will waken you to your innate abilities, to create all that you desire to live and experience. Begin to know yourself in a new way, as an awakened being, living your truth. The time will come when your innate gifts and abilities will become second nature to you. You will be in a constant flow of loving communion with your sacred self. This is your destiny. Open up to your heart and hear the messages that come to you. Allow yourself to blossom into the won58 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

Life: The Ride Divine! by Sara Chetkin

Life is intelligent, and it’s powerful, too. Yet, we rarely consider it as anything other than unpredictable and unknowable. What an amazing journey we’d have if we trusted life, but we don’t. Instead, in our fear of the unknown, we have turned life into a series of attempts to make the future as predictable as possible. Perhaps as we look out into the vast and infinite universe we feel small and insignificant, and so we want to exert some control where we can. We have forgotten that we are at the center of creation. We are one with all we see. The same energy that flows through your neighbors flows through you, and God or Divine ntelligence is at the core. For too long we have indulged in the illusion of separation. We have forsaken our true natures for the roller coaster ride of duality and the ego. It may be fun to go up and down and up and down on that crazy ride, but most of us have lost sight of the novelty of it. We have become entrenched in the frustration of it, and the result is suffering. We are all searching for ways to feel peaceful and secure. Unfortunately, the most common solution seems to be the least effective: when we want to heal an emotion, we give it all of our attention. In traditional therapy we spend lots of time and money dissecting our negative emotions in an attempt to be free, and what is the best we can hope for? A state of precarious peace that must be constantly

tended to in order to be maintained. Not exactly inspiring, is it? Instead of putting our negative emotions under a magnifying glass, why not shift our attention to something else? I don’t mean go into denial. We can acknowledge and give flow to the unwanted emotions. At the same time, we can experience our connection to something everlasting and unchanging. Some call it God. I like the Spiritualist term Divine Intelligence. You are already tuned into this energy. You’re just not paying attention. If we would, the fear and anguish would simply fade away because we would feel so empowered and safe, there would be no need for fear. Alas, we rarely, if ever, pay attention to God. We give our power to Mind instead. Now, Mind knows nothing of Divine Intelligence. Divine Intelligence is spontaneous. Mind is the complete opposite. Mind is all forethought and no spontaneity. Mind uses past knowledge to create plans as it moves toward the future (attempting to remove unpredictability!). That is your karma. You may think karma is something out of your control, a balancing of the scales. No, karma is your mind taking you for a ride down memory lane. It distracts you with the past, and hopes that you will never enter the world of spontaneity and present-time: the world of God.

62 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

When you look at the world through the mind’s (karmic) eyes, you see it through the distorted lens of your history. In other words, you try to understand present situations using past experience as your guide. Let me put it to you this way. If I blindfold you and send you into your house, you will probably get around ok. You might bump into a few things, but you know how it’s arranged so you’ll do all right. But what if I rearrange your furniture without telling you? Now things get interesting. You start wandering through the house using your past understanding of the layout. You bump into everything! You might trip or fall down. You could get hurt. Who knows what will happen? It’s all new and you’re not seeing it! It’s the same with life: when you make decisions about the present moment based on knowledge acquired from past experience, you are putting on that blindfold, and you are bound to make mistakes. Some mistakes might be small, but some might be really big. One thing is for sure, challenges will be harder to overcome and may have a lasting impact on your life. So, take off the blindfold! Forget about exploring the past. Instead, start exploring Divine Intelligence (i.e. your true nature). You will still face challenges; ut you will face them with greater ease. You will move through them in less time and with fewer bruises. That is the blessing of trusting God. The best way to achieve this is through meditation. When we meditate, we quiet the mind. We reveal an alternative to its controlling and scheming methods, and we teach it its proper place. The mind is the observer, not the director. Its job, and our job, is to remain open and trusting and to enjoy the ride. It is the responsibility of Divine Intelligence to determine the course. Yet we humans drive ourselves crazy trying to prove that we can contain something as powerful as life. The evidence of that is all around you. Isn’t the world pathologically unstable? And the more we try to control things, the more unstable it becomes! Trying to contain life is like trying to fence a wild horse. When it’s free, a wild horse is strong and sure. It is swift and beautiful. Confine it with a fence, and it’s a chaotic beast that must be broken. That’s what we are doing to our lives. Instead of remaining open and trusting, we have allowed our minds to fence us in, and we are beating against the railings trying desperately to break free. That’s the

62 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e June 2016

chaos and the negativity upon which we focus so intently. Yet, we’re so trusting of the fence, we no longer question it. We only look at our fear and frustration and wonder why. Don’t give it another thought. Meditate. As we grow quiet and still, our awareness shifts. We realize that we are already attuned to Divine Intelligence, that everything else has been a daydream, a distraction. When we quiet the mind, we automatically experience God.
