Vincent Spano Vincent Spano, an Italian/American actor, writer, director and producer, was born in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Vincent and Theresa. Upon meeting Spano, one can’t help but notice his physical beauty. He’s a tall, handsome Latin man, with eyes that sparkle and a smile that warms you. But Spano’s outer appearance is only a tiny part of the whole. Spano is socially conscious and spiritually evolved. He’s kind hearted, humble, very modest, and he’s a very accomplished actor who can play a wide range of roles from hunky lover, to evil tough guy, to broad comedy. Spano caught the acting bug at an early age and by the time he was 14, he was professionally pursing a career. Within months, he was cast as Steve in the Broadway drama, The Shadow Box. The following year he made his motion picture debut in The Double McGuffin, which starred legends Ernest Borgnine and George Kennedy (and even Orson Welles, who narrated the opening of the film.) At age 18, Spano was cast in The Black Stallion Returns, where he first met Francis Ford Coppola. That meeting and collaboration would go on to change Spano’s professional life forever. Vincent was flown overseas for the first time in his life, to shoot for 6 months in Italy, Morocco and Algeria. With the success of The Black Stallion Returns, he found himself a member of Coppola’s Zoetrope family. Spano returned home from Italy to win his “break out role” in John Sayles’, Italian-Catholic-boy-meets-Jewish-girl romance, Baby It's You, where he played The Sheik. After the film’s success, he was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Coppola again (this time as his director), playing the role of Steve in Rumblefish. In less than a year, Spano had done three major films and established himself as a "serious" film actor. Spano has since acted in more than fifty theatrical and television films. He also continues to work as a film writer, director and producer, and act in various theatrical productions. Some highlights of Spano’s work besides his work with Coppola, include Good Morning, Babalonia, which was shot in Italy and directed by the Taviani brothers, the remake of And God Created Woman, directed by the original film’s director, Roger Vadim, Creator, starring opposite Peter O’Toole, and Oscar, directed by John Landis and starring his childhood hero, Sylvester Stallone. Spano’s work has garnered notice and awards along his journey. He was nominated as Best Actor for Cable's ACE Award for his role as "baby mafia" economic powerhouse Marc Ciuni in Showtime's Blood Ties. He was also the youngest honoree at the Lake Arrowhead film festival, joining the ranks of other notable honorees including: Gena Rowlands, Joe Mantegna and Kirk Douglas. Internationally, he has received multiple awards alongside great actors like Giancarlo Giannini & Joe Pesci. 9 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
1. Tell us a little more about yourself and your work. Most importantly, I have always considered myself a person first, who enjoys creating and expressing myself through acting, directing, writing, etc. I’ve never labeled myself as an “actor” or “director.” Later in life, I learned how to better express this – I, just like you, am a Spiritual Being having a human experience, as opposed to a human being who lucks out in discovering spiritual knowledge as they journey through life. I think I’m here to tell stories, whether they’re my own and I tell them through my writing and directing, or I tell someone else’s story through my acting. 2. Why did you change your name to Vincent Stewart and then decide to go back to your original name? When I started my career, there was a considerable amount of concern around the idea of being too ethnic. My very first representative’s thought that having an Italian last name would limit the roles I would be considered for. It’s quite ironic, since Pacino and De Niro were blazing new paths for Italian Americans in the ‘70’s, and I was just coming on the scene then. The only credit I ever had as Vincent Stewart was the Broadway drama, The Shadow Box. When I did my second film, Over the Edge, producer George Litto encouraged me to be proud of my Italian heritage and use my real name. This was soon enough to make sure that my credit in my very first film, The Double McGuffin, was also credited as Spano. Since then, I’ve never really given it another thought. It’s my natural lineage and I’m proud of my Sicilian roots (my Great Grandfather, Michelangelo Spano was from Bagheria, Sicily – just east of Palermo.) 3. Of all the movies that you played in throughout

the years, which one do you consider to be your favorite and why? It’s very difficult to say which of my films is my favorite. It’s like being asked who your favorite child is. Each one is unique with its own special qualities. I have been blessed to be in so many diverse film stories that have filmed in many different parts of the world with tremendously talented collaborators. 4. What made you decide to become an actor? I truly became an actor by accident. There was no particular conscious choice on my part to begin. That would come later. My 8th grade friend Seth had done some commercials when he was much younger. His mom, Habiba, had contact to a Manager named Barbara Jarrett. Habiba encouraged me to meet with Barbara and audition. She felt I had a gift for performing and Barbara would recognize it too. She was right and Barbara signed me that night. I had a couple of auditions at 13-years-old and then on the day of my 14th birthday, I auditioned for an industrial commercial and booked my first job. Within five months of that, I was opening on Broadway in The Shadow Box, which went on to win the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony for Best Drama. At 15-years-old, I did my first two films, at 16 a terrific off-Broadway play and at 17, a short stint on a soap opera. It was at this time that I really had to make my own choice to pursue it as a life goal, and I decided to pursue both acting and filmmaking. I was accepted into the film program at all three of my college choices, but ended up getting my first big film break at the age of 18 in The Black Stallion Returns. I never did get to go to college, but I got my education out in the field, working with some of the best filmmakers in the world.

5. Tell us a little bit more about the spirituality side of your life. I have always been a seeker of truth … the deeper meaning in this life … the natural law that founds everything. This has come my way through knowledge, observation, science, metaphysics, etc. I practice Transcendental Meditation daily. I studied Spiritual Psychology at the remarkable University of Santa Monica. I’ve participated in a couple of the Insight Seminars. I continue to study the Law of Attraction, quantum physics basics, and universal mechanics. In the last couple of years I’ve worked closely with manifesting expert, Amy Westmoreland. If Stanley Kubrick is the great master of filmmaking, Amy is the Kubrick of teaching one how to create the life they truly want. I read my first inspirational book when I was 15-years-old – Dr. Wayne Dyer’s, Your Erroneous Zones, and have been a student of what I call “self-exploration” ever since. I’ve always journaled and I have enjoyed therapy over the years with some brilliant minds that have taught me so much, and helped me understand the human condition in profound ways. After all, that’s what I do as an actor/writer/director. I’m basically in the human business. I’ve derived so much value as a storyteller from Joseph Campbell and his study of myths through the millennia – mining the endless brilliance of the unconscious. Everything is energy and I believe it all comes from the One Source. The more the world begins to not only accept this truth, but also truly “see” it, the more peaceful and harmonious our world will become. 6. Theater or Film? Which one do you prefer and why? They are such different experiences. Both have their unique values. I love the creation of a complete performance in a matter of hours, the refining of a play night after night, the give and take / interaction between the performers and each different live audience. Film is about creating something set in stone, which can be seen repeatedly for eternity, and created piece-bypiece, over an extended period of time. It’s dynamic in terms of all the different stages and elements necessary to create the final product. I love theater, but if God stood before me and said I could only choose one for the rest of my life, I would choose film acting, writing and directing. It better suits my personality in the long run. 7. Are you involved in any charities? If so, which ones and why did you choose them? Yes. Operation Provider up in the San Bernardino Mountains is a terrific organization, which provides 12 12 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e e October Octoberr 2016 2016
groceries to hundreds of hungry families each week. My friend Holland Lowe founded it when she realized how many people were underserved in what is mostly considered a resort area. They also provide clothing and general living necessities to those in need. Each Christmas day they throw a big Christmas dinner and toy give away with live entertainment to families that sign up in advance (or walk-ins). It’s really an amazing experience to see children and parents light up on a day that might normally remind them of hardship. I also support Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. They have a terrific program where someone like me can go in and spend time with the children, read stories, play games, sit with them and talk while they go through their various therapy sessions. 8. How do you think your career of being an actor relates to your spiritual path? As I said previously, I’m in the “human business.” The more I can expand to better understand the dynamics of our life experience, that which is seen and that which is not – that which is purely energy on both the micro and macro levels, the more dynamically I can create as an artist. 9. Are you currently working on any new projects? I just finished the San Francisco scenes for director Christopher Coppola’s film entitled Torch. (Christopher is Francis’ nephew.) It was a very challenging and adventurous shoot in the jungles and caves of Belize in Central America. It is basically a modern retelling of the great film noir classic, Gaslight, starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer, directed by George Cukor. I play the Spaniard, Gabriel Coronado, a writer obsessed with the great adventures of the Conquistadors. I also just finished shooting an episode of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (a spin-off of Criminal Minds.) Beyond Borders brings the FBI abroad in each episode, to help solve crimes that involve American victims or suspects. My episode is titled, Il Mostro, and takes place in the city of Florence, Italy. I play the Italian, Commissario Galterio Conte – the top dog at the Florence Special Investigations Task Force. There is also a project I wrote to direct and star in that I am currently seeking financing for. You could say it is in the Conscious / Spiritual Film niche and I’m very excited about bringing it to life. I’ll talk more about it in the future as it actually comes to fruition.

University of Santa Monica Spirit of Wisdom By Aura Imbarus, Ph.D.
In a world that is continually changing and evolving, an amplified awareness and focus are needed. Personal and business challenges are overwhelming nowadays’ society, bringing its citizens to the brink of not knowing who they are anymore. Within the “I” era where iPhone, iPad, and iTunes are dividing human beings, an increased need for healing, consciousness, and spiritual attunement have emerged. For more than 30 years, the University of Santa Monica, the Worldwide Center for the Study and Practice of Spiritual Psychology®, has been diligently and lovingly providing innovative Programs in Spiritual Psychology. In a small classroom setting, where undivided attention, respect, love, and kindness are the main tools for this avant-garde educational system, the USM enrollment in the Soul-Centered Living I Program is limited to just 250 new students each year. In March 1976, Roger Delano Hinkins, an educator and author, also known as John-Roger and founder of the MSIA – Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness, has established this university. In 1980, he was joined by Dr. H. Ronald Hulnick and Dr. Mary R. Hulnick (former faculty members at New Mexico State University), who, in a short period of time, took on the roles and responsibilities as President and Academic Vice President, respectively. In September 1981 the first master’s students were admitted. A basic requirement of having a GED or a high school diploma is needed, along with the desire to get to know ourselves as the future torch bearers of an unknown, yet ready-to-be-discovered future. Through the study of Spiritual Psychology, which is the study and practice of the art and science of Conscious Awakening, students will explore the tenets of life, being able to find their own answers to “Who Am I?,” “What’s My Purpose?,” and “How Can I Make a Meaningful Contribution to This World?.” The main goal of USM is expressed in the President’s and VP’s words: “The essence of Soul-Centered Living is Awakening into the Awareness of who you truly are and living your life from within that Awakened state.” – Ron & Mary Hulnick

Luxury Event Planner
ELLA Boghossian by Dina Morrone
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages. The Eden Magazine, featuring Ella Boghossian, is honoring all women who went through a rough time, dealing with Breast Cancer. Ella Boghossian is an Event Planner and Designer. Her passions are to design and create beautiful lavish events for her clients. She enjoys giving to the community through her designs. “If there is an event that relates to a cause, I love being a part of it,” she says. Last year, Metropolitan Fashion Week was one of her favorite events because it was for cancer awareness. She herself is a breast and skin cancer survivor. Her passion for the arts has led her to share that talent with cancer patients in Glendale, California, where she now lives. She left her country of Iran, with her family, before the revolution in 1977. Her father was a shoe designer and designed shoes for Queen Farah Pahlavi. In fact, he designed the shoes she wore at her coronation as Queen of the Kingdom. Ella always felt deeply connected to her father and followed in his footsteps with her own love and gift of design. She graduated from fashion school and worked as a designer, but it wasn’t until the birth of her second child that she decided to leave work and stay at home with her children (Alex & Michelle). This is when she first got involved with her children’s school (Verdugo Woodlands elementary school) and started a couple of her own projects.
Life was good for Ella and her family until her father was diagnosed with lung cancer. He lost the battle fifteen years ago. Ella was devastated as she was very close to her father, but the love for her family kept her going. In 2006 Ella got the news that she had breast cancer. It was quite a blow to her because as healthy as she was, she wondered why this was happening to her. At that time her children were only eight and five-years old. She felt hopeless but decided to let her children know about her condition. “This was my decision,” she said. “Many people choose not share this with their children, especially when they are so young.” Ella felt they had a right to know. With her family knowing about her condition, she decided to fight the disease. It was a scary time for Ella. She knew that by choosing to go through with the chemotherapy treatment, she would lose her hair and feel sick all the time. But, she knew that this was the route she had to go through. She said, “I made the choice to not feed my cancer by being sad and giving up.” She went forward with the cancer treatment, switched to a healthy diet, and also added a cardio Salsa exercise class and Zumba class that she enjoyed a lot. Today she is actually teaching that cardio class. After eleven years of being cancer free, Ella is happy, full of life, and very busy with her booming business as an Event Designer. She is also a volunteer committee member at the Cancer Care Guild at Glendale Adventist hospital. When I asked Ella how she felt about having gone through the cancer experience, she said, “It was a tough time for me and my family. I read so many books about cancer and what I would be going through. None of the books however, prepared me for the fact that although I would be going through the disease and treatment, I would also have to continue being a full-time wife, mother, go through all the daily life duties, and be there for all of them even when I myself did not feel well. I decided to undergo chemotherapy and followed my doctor’s orders. It was my decision to go through with my doctors treatmen plan and with what he felt would be best suited for me. I’m not saying everyone should make the same choice I made, but it worked for me. Everyone needs to find what works best for them because it’s a very personal decision.” 19 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016

How to Calculate Your Risk For Breast Cancer By Dr. Mai Brooks
Using known risk factors for breast cancer, mathematical models can be developed to help answer important questions. These mathematical models are useful tools for researchers and for patients as follows: 1. Research on risk factors - The Claus risk assessment model was used to discover the subpopulation of people who had an autosomal dominant genetic allele that increased their risk from 10% to 92%. This led to the discovery of the BRCA genes associated with breast, ovarian, and prostate cancer. 2. Clinical trial eligibility - The Gail risk assessment model was developed to help researchers determine who to enroll in the NSAPB Breast Cancer Prevention Trials where chemoprevention was shown to reduce breast cancer risk. 3. Guidelines for doing BRCA testing - BRCA testing is very expensive and practically worthless if done on everyone (because it is so rare to be homozygous for BRCA1 or BRCA2). Mathematical models such as the BRCAPRO, BOADICEA, and Tyrer-Cuzick models can help determine what patients should undergo BRCA testing. The decision for testing is usually made when one of these models predicts a 10% or greater chance that there is a mutation of the BRCA1, BRCA2, or both genes. 4. Guidelines for doing MRI screening for breast cancer - MRI screening for breast cancer is not a cost effective screening test for the general population, but in specific groups, there are clear cut reasons to do so. In general, screening MRI is recommended for women with 20-25% or greater lifetime risk of breast cancer. The BRCAPRO and Tyrer-Cuzick models have been used to help make clinical decisions about ordering MRIs for breast cancer screening. 5. Guidelines for breast cancer therapy - The Gail model is used clinically to help determine who should be put on tamoxifen or raloxifene for chemoprevention. Other models have been used to help make decisions about breast cancer risk reduction with prophylactic mastectomy. For these reasons, it is important to understand these models. These models are collectively referred to as "risk assessment tools". The following paragraphs summarize 22 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
the most popular and most widely used risk assessment tools. Keep in mind that none of these risk assessment tools apply to breast cancer survivors. No mathematical model has been widely accepted to determine cancer risk in cancer survivors. General Risk Assessment Tools Gail Model: The Gail model is a validated risk-assessment model that focuses primarily on nonhereditary risk factors, with limited information on family history. It was developed by scientists at the National Cancer Institute and the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) to assist health care providers in discussing breast cancer risk to determine their eligibility for the Breast Cancer Prevention Trial. The tool allows one to project a woman's individual estimate of breast cancer risk over a five-year period of time and over her lifetime. It also compares the woman's risk calculation with the average risk for a woman of the same age. The Gail Model is an on-line quiz that has 13 questions and is interactive. This calculator is based on published risk statistics and methods gathered from peer-reviewed journals, and has been extensively tested for its validity. The major limitation of the Gail model is the inclusion of only first-degree relatives, which results in underestimating risk in the 50% of families with cancer in the paternal lineage and also takes no account of the age of onset of breast cancer. It may underestimate risk in certain groups, such as obese patients. National Cancer Institute Model: The NCI risk assessment tool is essentially a simplified Gail Model that also factors in race. Race is a factor in determining breast cancer risk but is excluded when determining eligibility for clinical trials. This tool is probably the most popular risk assessment tool available to the public as an on-line, interactive risk calculator. The on-line quiz is a shorter, nine-point questionnaire that includes multiple factors, giving a woman her future five-year risk of breast cancer and her lifetime risk of breast cancer. The NCI tool does not account for a lot of risk factors that can be modified. For this reason, it is difficult to use this test as a motivation tool to show people how lifestyle can alter their risk of breast cancer. It also cannot be used in breast cancer survivors, in patients with DCIS, LCIS, or people who carry one of the BRCA genes.
BRCAPRO model: This is a statistical model available as a computer program that uses two different algorithms to evaluate family history and helps a doctor determine the likelihood of finding either a BRCA1 mutation or a BRCA2 mutation in a family. The results of this can be used to determine if BRCA testing is indicated. This is very useful in light of the high cost of BRCA testing ($3,000). None of the nonhereditary risk factors can yet be incorporated into the model, however. In a comparison of four different methods for estimating breast cancer risk in patients with a family history of breast cancer, the BRCAPRO model was the least accurate. It predicted only 49% of the breast cancers that actually occurred in the screened group of patients with a family history of breast cancer. Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention Risk Assessment Tool: This is another breast cancer risk assessment tool that includes more lifestyle factors than the NCI or Gail Model tools. It has not been studied as extensively as the Gail Model or the simplified NCI model, but it is promising in that it includes many lifestyle factors that people can do to modify their risk of developing cancer. It is also an on-line questionnaire that can be used by both women and men to estimate their breast cancer risk. Making all this practical Now after a thorough and confusing discussion of all these statistical models, it's time to make all this information practical. What is the best way to help a patient accurately assess her risk of breast cancer and if possible, show her what positive factors are reducing her risk and what negative factors can be changed to reduce her risk? If possible, it would also be great to show the patient the value and indications for testing, imaging, chemoprevention, and in some cases surgery. A discussion of the practical aspect of each of these is addressed in a Q & A format below: Q: What (free) online programs can be used to help a patient assess their risk of breast cancer? A: Several of the risk assessment tools mentioned above can be accessed for free by the public. Here are the tests and their websites: 1. Your Disease Risk - English version: www.diseaseriskindex.harvard.edu This is a great interactive questionnaire that calculates fiveyear and lifetime risk of breast cancer developed by the Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention and made public online in 2000. In 2005, they launched the Spanish version of the site, "Cuidar de su Salud". The risk calculator includes lifestyle factors such as weight, dietary vege-
tables, alcohol intake, as well as Jewish ethnicity. It does not include other ethnicities, however, and is not accurate for BRCA mutation carriers or breast cancer survivors. Despite these issues, this is by far the best free online risk calculator since it is very interactive and gives you a personalized description of your risk in the form of a colored bar graph, which they can electronically manipulate to experience "virtual" risk reduction. The bar graph is a seven-level scale that compares users to a typical man or woman your age. Users learn where to focus their prevention efforts and how to make lifestyle changes by "clicking on" personalized strategies. With each click, the bar graph shrinks, and the user watches his/her predicted risk drop. This is a great concept to motivate people to participate and comply with lifestyle modification measures. 2. The NCI Risk Assessment Tool -regular web: www.cancer.gov/bcrisktool This is the easy to use, on-line questionnaire based on a modified Gail model that also includes ethnicity. It does not factor in a personal history of breast cancer, DCIS, or LCIS. It does not account for other factors such as BRCA status, hormonal replacement therapy, lifestyle factors, breast feeding, menopause, or mammographic density. Despite these issues, it is a very useful tool that gives a woman her five-year and lifetime risk of breast cancer. It is the only risk assessment tool that can be used via mobile handheld devices (any type). A version of this can be downloaded for PDAs with Windows Pocket PC operating system as well. Q: What programs can be used to help a doctor make decisions about ordering a breast MRI? A: The American Cancer Society has developed some very good guidelines for breast cancer screening with MRI. It should be emphasized that MRI is an adjunct to mammography, not a replacement. Some programs can be used to help in clinical decision making. Please look up the American Cancer Society website. GRATITUDE By TARA-JENELLE WALSCH www.soulcourage.com
Gratitude keeps you present, shifting your personal energy and the energy around you. Appreciating something in the moment establishes that we are in that moment. Whether we are the one expressing gratitude or the person receiving another’s gratitude, appreciation in the moment establishes presence with all that is, in both people. By bringing us to Right Now, the exchange of gratitude keeps our mind out of the past and out of the future. This gives us a sense of enormous freedom, allowing us to fully experience and express what we are feeling now. Believe it or not, though, feeling and expressing gratitude takes courage. I’m not talking about a casual “Thank you!” when someone opens the door for you, but full on feeling gratitude and expressing it to another, face to face. This takes courage because to feel gratitude full on is to feel love full on. And the mind often tells us it’s dangerous to feel love full on, so we live with an invisible cage around our heart. When we are the receiver of gratitude, we often don’t feel worthy of receiving the gratitude and the love within it, and start to fend it off immediately, or lessen its value, saying, “Oh, it was nothing.” Even if we are completely alone and feeling gratitude for something in our life in the privacy of our mind, it’s sometimes followed with guilt. The guilt of feeling unworthy of receiving that for which we are grateful, the guilt of feeling that you put another out. Oddly, it doesn’t stop there. We can sometimes feel shame even as we are expressing gratitude to another. This is the shame of somehow feeling defeated and admitting that 24 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
we were incapable of handling on our own what we are thanking them for. This is why it is difficult for a lot of people to express gratitude verbally or in writing, let alone in person, and actually look the other in the eyes. But pausing and looking someone in the eyes with sincere appreciation can erase all feelings of inadequacy. It’s as though we hit the “re-set” button through the power of Connection. Everything we were carrying— our To Do list, our worries about the future, our preoccupations about the past, and any feeling of unworthiness—is suddenly zapped. It’s as though gratitude has a force of its own, like a beam of light that diminishes everything else around it. Our mind is so attracted to this light that everything around it falls away, and we feel Ourselves Again. That’s how powerful gratitude is. It not only magnetizes us to other people, it magnetizes us to our Soul. We suddenly feel what’s really important, as our “story” disintegrates right in front of our eyes. Even when we think we’re done feeling the gratitude, it still resides within us. If we try to get back to our previous state of mind—the worries, the To Do list, etc.—suddenly we feel much more indifferent about it. We have reset the pins on the bowling alley of life. Something or someone may knock them down again, but we’ve found the magic reset button. By virtue of gratitude keeping us present, we are lifted out of lower vibrations, if only for the moment. Lower vibrations can be anything from fear and anxiety, or even the story that we may unconsciously carry with us throughout the day (i.e., “I’m never good enough.” “No one ever sees me.” “I’m not worthy.”).
25 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
You may have had the experience of being afflicted by one of these lower thoughts, and then something wonderful will happen that yanks you out of that vibration and unexpectedly rolls you into a place of joy. One moment you’re feeling angst or despair, the next you’re feeling an intense appreciation for someone or something. We see, then, that gratitude isn't just about saying thank you. We could say thank you until the cows come home and may still not have one iota of gratitude in our hearts, because gratitude is about feeling thank you. I’m sure you know this, but what you may not know is how to actually go about feeling it deliberately. Gratitude is generally experienced unpredictably. It’s something that just “happens” to you on occasion. Perhaps after you’ve been given a gift or support from a friend, you’ve felt your heart open up the same way that it does when you hug someone. It’s wonderful when this happens spontaneously, but can be life-changing when you create it intentionally. How to Feel Gratitude on Purpose Although we are inclined to think that gratitude is about being grateful for something or someone else, the best place to start creating it on purpose is to be grateful for yourself. Taking the time to notice and reflect on the things that you are grateful for about you puts your mind on the backburner and allows your Heart and Soul to step forward. To feel gratitude on purpose, think of the things right now that you have to be grateful for about you. Even if you are simply appreciating something from your past, the act of feeling thankful about it reminds you of your long-standing existence—and that in itself is a reason to be grateful. Lack Luster With much of society’s focused on making a financial profit, and the increased acceptance around disposability, humanity has become ever consumed with a case of Not-Enoughness. The days of living simple and being grateful for what we do have, have been traded for living lavishly, sometimes beyond our means, and pining for what we don’t have. Much of our daily thinking has been poisoned from the larger thought of lack that there is not enough; that we are not enough, or that things should be a better way. It’s no shock, then, to

see the rapid decline of gratitude trickle though our species. Lack of gratitude spawns from the feeling of lack, itself. According to your mind, you are lacking this and lacking that, and pretty soon you become resentful and can only see all that it is you are lacking, which, then, organically produces a lack of gratitude. But there is a solution, a way to get back to feeling more gratitude for all things. The solution is to abandon the feeling of lack. The Visual Visit Operation Lack-Removal starts by staying present with all that you do have, which keeps your mind busy and unable to think about all that you want or think you need. You can instantly become present with all that you have by physically looking at your surroundings. Just glance around the room and consciously take in the beauty around you. Notice that wherever you are, there is beauty. Whether you are simply starring at the grass or the sky, looking at your spouse, your children, your pet, your home, or even looking down at your own hands and feet, your visual visit will ignite your recognition of the wonder of these things, and will fill your heart with gratitude. If you hear thoughts of lack “at work” in your mind, spouting off the list of all that you “need to be” and “must have” in order to experience happiness, try not to fall prey to the hypnosis by feeling dissatisfied about life in some way (money, relationship, body image, etc.). Instead of being mentally paralyzed by the anguish of wishing things were different—or scrambling to change things and make them “better”—try to catch those thoughts as soon as they appear and blow them out as if they were a flame on a candle. Then bring yourself back to the truth you choose by consciously taking a look around the room again to see what is there. This exercise will prove that your thoughts of lack are inaccurate by immediately giving them proof of the opposite. Voluntarily leaving those thoughts of lack and moving into the watcher will empower you, and as you review the treasures in your life, your trust that you will always be taken care will be affirmed. Gratitude will arise in your heart and you will now feel that “everything is perfect exactly as it is.” Notice that you have always had everything you’ve needed....your being here right now is the proof.
Verbal Acknowledgement Another way to feel gratitude on purpose is to express it intentionally, and not just spontaneously. And out loud, not just to yourself. Don't just think about how wonderful something or someone is, share the wealth. And watch as something that may have initially been merely “nice" in your thoughts, then grows in your heart and the hearts of others as you declare your gratitude for it verbally. This can be unexpectedly enlivening to both the giver and the receiver of gratitude, because people simply don't get enough of it. Everyone wants to be seen, yet some people seem to not have the time, interest or courage to actually “see” another. The sending of gratitude is almost always a roll-over experience, in that the initial giver of the gratitude sends joy to the receiver, responds joyfully, the energy of which comes back full circle, gifting the original giver with the very essence of what was sent. You can also express gratitude about something not related to that person, but shared with them directly. If you’re expressing gratitude for the weather, for example, the person hearing it still feels uplifted by your words of appreciation, and may even share a light-hearted or happy response—or even engage in a wider conversation with you. Yet, there doesn't even have to be another person in the space in order for you to acknowledge something verbally. I know you know this, but how often do you actually do it? Acknowledging something verbally to yourself—an animal, nature or even to the Universe/ God of your choice—when no one is around is surprisingly powerful and exhilarating. The idea of positive affirmations came from this discovery, and I have no doubt that's why they are so popular. There is a magical twist in hearing your own voice appreciate anything with love and gratitude. Acts of Service An act of service is a very proactive and sure way to deliberately express gratitude. Doing something, however big or small, for another person, the community, or even for Mother Nature (pruning trees, cleaning trash from a river, repotting a plant) is a powerful reminder that we are abundant, because we have enough (time, energy, money) to share—and all sharing begins
with gratitude. Putting someone else's needs ahead of yours through an act of service gives that person the nonverbal message that they are valuable and worthy of special time and care. But ultimately when we preform an act of service to someone or something, it helps us to get out of our own way through the unspoken reminder that we aren’t here for ourselves, we are here to experience Oneness with others and with Life Itself. This reminder connects us to gratitude so purely that we are then serving the agenda of our Soul. This is how gratitude prepares us, encourages us and motivates us. It shifts our personal energy and the energy around us. Feeling and expressing gratitude is like gold for relationships in this way. It reminds others that they are seen and appreciated—which is like giving them an “energy hug.” Whether it’s energetic or physical, this hug releases oxytocin, which is the hormone released through love.

Googling the Divine Internet By Donald L. Hicks
28 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e September 2016
How many times in your life have you sought for Divine guidance? How many times do you seek answers to Life’s mysteries, or ask for help making troubling decisions, or just long to increase your own spiritual knowledge and accelerate your growth and vibration? Do you ever wish you could simply “Google” whatever issue you are facing to get Divine answers? Wouldn’t it be great if we could just silently “plug in” to the Divine Internet and find the answers we seek? What if I told you: you can? It probably won’t be instantaneous, and it may take practice and perseverance, but you already have all of the tools you need. They’re built into you. You already have a “Divine Wifi” connection, it’s just a matter of learning search methods that work for you. Let’s begin with the most basic ways of accessing information. To accomplish this, we’re going to start with ways you can get answers for simple “Yes/No” questions, and then we’ll move on to accessing answers in phrases, sentences, and even more complex questions and issues. “Yes/No” methods There are many ways you can get Divine direction for any basic “yes or no” question you direct to The Source. For the sake of brevity, I’m going to describe two very simple methods. * The Namaste Technique -- The first, I call The Namaste technique. It’s a simple way to gain the answer to any basic “Yes/No” question. To perform this, simply stand erect with your feet together, place your palms together as though praying, with your thumbs touching your heart, bow your head slightly and give thanks for whatever it is in your life you are thankful for. Of all ways to connect to The Source, Gratitude is always a fast and reliable connection. As you give thanks, mentally become aware of your body. Feel the stress drain away from you and watch Life’s worries just fade away. After feeling relaxed, close your eyes and ask your “yes/no” question. (Closing your eyes is not necessary, but it is very helping in “feeling” your body’s response. Just be careful not to lose your balance and fall).
29 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e Octoerber 2016
If the answer to your question is “Yes”, you will feel your body sway slightly forward, as if an unseen force is very gently urging you ahead. If the answer is “No”, you will feel as if this unseen force is gently pressing you backwards. * The Pendulum Method – Another technique to get simple “yes/no” answers to any question is through using a pendulum looped over your finger. You can create a very basic one by tying an ink pen to a string, and tying the opposite end in a loop to go around your finger. To use this method, simply ask your “yes/no” question while making the pendulum swing in a small circle (about 3 inches in diameter). Once you’ve asked your question, stop moving your hand and allow the pendulum to swing freely. The pendulum will settle into a back and forth rhythm. As it does this, note the direction of its swing. If it is swinging toward you and then straight ahead of you (as if you’re being told to move forward), your answer is “yes”. If it swings from left to right, blocking your path, you are being told “no”. Phrases * Intuition -- There are a number of ways you can receive basic phrases in response to your questions. The most basic, of course, is through your intuition. Before I move on to this in greater detail, let me just “give thanks” for intuition. Intuition is a wonderful gift that often speaks to us even when we don’t ask a question. It sometimes tells us to “stop” or “go” or tells us “not yet” or other guidance at the most critical moments. It is the gateway to forming a relationship with our spirit guides. In my opinion, intuition comes from our Spirit Guides/Guardian angels. It is the most rudimentary source of connection, yet it is extremely reliable. And the more you are open to it, the more open communication with your spirit guide (or Guardian Angel) will become. There is a very simple and surprisingly practical way to develop your intuition: “word search” puzzles. If you want to try this, buy a word search puzzle book (most “dollar stores” have a good selection), and work one or two puzzles per day. As you work each puzzle, ask your intuition to help you. You will notice that as you see a word in the list of words for that puzzle, your eyes will be drawn to the area of the puzzle where the hidden word lies. The more you do this, the faster you become at finding words and solving puzzles. Plus, you may increase your vocabulary in the process, so it’s a win-win situationo me, meditation is the favored method of accessing

my intuition. Simply find a location where you can meditate with a low risk of being interrupted. If you have the ability to do this amid nature… that much the better. As I mentioned in my book, Look into the stillness: “No church or synagogue pew can produce a higher awareness of God than sitting at the base of a tree and observing His creation.” It’s tough not to feel Oneness and a Divine connection while observing the natural beauty of our world. While it may make you feel more spiritual to meditate in Yogi-like cross-legged position, meditate however you feel the most comfortable. After all, the last thing we want to do is become physically uncomfortably at the exact moment we’re about to receive a Google response from the Divine. The challenge for most people during meditation is “quieting the chatterbox mind”. What often happens when we try to meditate is, the ego jumps out of its corner of the mind and tries to take center stage. The ego, in short, is a control freak and it wants to be running the show. The moment it senses you are looking for answers from an undeniably higher source, it feels threatened and will bombard you with every possible worry or distraction it can conceive to interrupt the process. It’ll throw out questions like: “Shouldn’t you be doing this? How are you going to pay for X? What about what “Jane” said about you? Is the cat sick? Did I feed the dog? How are you going to handle this problem or that one?” … and so on, and so on. The irony is, the ego often throws out the exact same issue you plan to meditate upon. So how do you shut down this chatter-box? The answer is through Gratitude. When you begin reviewing all the things in life you are grateful for, you leave the ego speechless. For this reason, I like to start every meditation session by focusing on as many things as I can that I am grateful for. Gratitude is healing. Gratitude alleviates our worries of life and the outside world around us by allowing us to focus inward, rather than outward. Another beneficial way to begin meditate is by mentally sending out healing to all those who are seeking healing. You can make this doubly beneficial by asking for healing for any issue or ailment you face before you send out healing to all who seek it, and then simply await your own power to return to you. In this way, you are helping others and helping yourself. Give and it shall be given to you.
As you begin to quiet the mind, pose your question to the Source and simply await your answer. The answer may come to you immediately as a feeling, or a quiet whisper. If the answer doesn’t come to you right away, don’t get discouraged. It doesn’t mean your meditation was in vain. It may mean the timing is not correct for your answer, or the answer may just “pop into your mind” minutes or hours later.
a learning curve, rather than a spontaneous event. While it may happen instantly for a few people, for most of us, the process takes time and development. It’s akin to learning to speak. You begin with the “yes/no” statements, progress to phrases (“not yet”), and eventually are able to form sentences and converse with your Spirit Guide on a one-on-one basis. The more you practice and develop, the more you progress.
* Music -- Music is another great way to get answers to your most perplexing issues. If you’re going to be driving alone while making a commute, or just jamming to some oldies while cleaning the house or fixing the car, try this method. Turn on a radio station and ask The Source a question. State that you’ll listen for the answer in the third full song you hear. In other words, if there’s a song currently midway on the radio, it doesn’t count. Nor do advertising jingles count. You’re looking for an answer in the third complete song that plays. Your answer may come through the theme of the entire song, or there may be one single line or phrase that leaps out at you.
Having said this, I ask that you consider the following Bible scripture:
As a mention, always play attention to any song that just “pops into your head”. For example, while writing this, I caught myself humming This little Light of mine. These “ear-worms” often either convey a message, or, as in my case, displaying synchronicity. * Video – One of my guide’s favorite ways of conveying a message is by showing me clips from movie scenes or TV. In my particular case, my guide likes using clips from the Supernatural series…. Likely because the long-running series has tons of material that relate to spiritual themes. So if a movie scene or clip suddenly starts playing in your mind, pay attention to the subject matter and whatever is happening to the character(s). Chances are, there’s a message in there for you. * Dreams – Dreams or Visions are other ways our Spirit Guide/Guardian Angels convey us messages. Of course, in the dream world it’s often hard to discern what is Divinely inspired versus what is simply the result of eating pizza too close to bedtime. When dealing with dreams, pay special attention to any dreams that are lucid and filled with appropriate colors… especially the dreams where you are an “observer” rather than a participant.
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” – John 14:26, KJV Have you ever considered the possibility that our Spirit Guide is the “Holy Ghost” referred to in this scripture? That each of us is assigned one of these “Holy Ghosts”, each sharing Oneness with us and the Source? That it is this “Holy Ghost” that sends us intuition, gently influences our hand when using a pendulum, sends us visions or dreams and so on… all on behalf of The Source? And considering Oneness, have you ever considered that You may be sending You to You on Your behalf? For those answers, try Googling the Divine. Blessings and Gratitude,

LEADERSHIP
THE PATH LESS TRAVELED By Michael White Ryan
Today more than ever we are seeing the need for quality leadership. Is this a good thing or is this a bad thing, it makes no difference what we think. It’s about the black and white of it, you are a leader and if not you’re the manager of better yet “the follower”. In a world where the hierarchal system is losing ground, we still need leaders to forge the way. The company needs leadership but they are not sure I am the one. So, brave as can be, I give a guarantee to have them up and running, not in 12months but 4 weeks. If you follow these articles, then you know that challenges are to live for. After 4 weeks I get the second contract. Why, what makes the difference to all the programs out there? We need to understand there is no difference to how and individual or a company functions. When a program supplies all the functions necessary to lead, the missing equation is the person. If we are truly unique then why would you listen to something that is a generalization and the process is for every single, hundreds of persons.
33 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e September 2016
Next is, we hear form the famous that leadership is a learning process that happens over a 12 month period. That sounds like a car salesman guaranteeing his job for the next 12 months. To blow the myth out the door, there are natural born leaders and most are doing first, what their passionate about, never thinking about the money side of the business. When we take on any program, first and foremost we most likely need to know “who we are”. In saying that if we are true to ourselves, most don’t know!!! Yes, you may be great at what you do and it gives security and it makes an identity and the confidence rides on the back of the job position…but who are you. In a recent survey I conducted with 50 plus business owners half functioned with their natural given talents, while the other half lived a life of what they had been educated to do. Which half was the happier??? Leaders function differently, fast on their feet, decisive, use resources, overcome emotions, delegate and above all do not take anything personally. Hence the training needed for most. Coming to terms with your strengths, weaknesses is a start. Discovering what you are passionate about, gives a clue to your natural talents. Are you willing to put in the time to cultivate those natural abilities? How focused are you? And what education will you need to accomplish, in order to move closer to your goals. Ask yourself the obvious question… In order to have success in life, will it be easier form the education we all have learnt… or will it be by developing the natural talents and skills that already exist in you!!! When we make better decisions in life we end up with a better quality of living. Who knew??? Every day we come across people having difficulty in making decisions about their morning coffee, when in fact they order the same coffee from the same store year after year. We all want change, not all, but fear cuts us down. We have given up our uniqueness for sameness, for sameness carries with it security. The time is ripe to be a leader to the self. Find the necessary components that fit your uniqueness. Reach beyond the yesterdays, dig down deep inside and find your hidden natural gifts, they are gold to the world at large. I have never liked comparisons, but they do have a place to learn from. When you decide to move forward, personal or business, compare the next choice with those of the past. Will you choose to remain the same or will you 34 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
choose the one that elevates/benefits you the most??? The past drags behind like an anchor we can never cut loose from. Why is this so? All past experiences that have a negative connotation remain if the learning is never discovered. A past negative (-) is dissolved, is overcome by a positive (+) when the learning experience reveals itself. Not every decision will turn out to be good for us, and that’s because life ebbs and flows. It’s the gift of experience to recreate our personal foundation and encourages us to evolve in that moment. Arrogance coupled with ignorance is the closed doors for allowing change into our lives. We think we already know…Being a self-leader comes down to knowing what you have and then knowing what to do with it. Awareness is an extremely powerful tool for us to observe, on how we respond to the external world. Begin to notice how your five senses are communicating to you. Usually they are overlooked as we have been well trained in mindsetology only!!! Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, But by the places and moments that take our breath away!!!

Abstract A brief review of the true mechanism of vibration of soul and soul aspects has been presented. The inherent divine characteristics of the soul as may be described by a strive for gaining expanded consciousness, intuition, and creationism has been touched upon. The fundamental prerequisites for life and existence as a vibrational entity as may be typified by incarnation, karma, and reincarnation have been explicated. It is, once more, concluded that neither karma nor reincarnation were intended as commonly portrayed within this matrix and continuum of time and space on this present Omni Earth. Finally, it is concluded firmly and resolutely that it is incumbent upon us to clearly awaken our soul aspect through direct intuitive communication with the HIGHERSELF to decipher and ‘remember’ that the vicious cycle of reincarnation is to be broken once for all, culminating in contravention of ‘bondage’ on this continuum of time and space.
‘Life:’ A Vibrational Existence By Mohsen Paul Sarfarazi, Ph.D.
Introduction * We were all once an independently ‘lifeless’ constituent part of an omnipotent SOURCE of pure consciousness that we call the Prime Creator. * At a certain point in ethereal time our Prime Creator decided to implode upon itself creating independent constituent parts emanating from WITHIN and form ‘companions’ who would thrive on their own having an autonomous existence. * These companions were endowed with the gift of ‘Will Power’ to be able to venture ‘out’ experimenting and acquiring personal experiences of their own, deciphering, feeling a sequence of ‘life’ sojourns in myriad of ‘dimensions’ of consciousness that would enlighten them in a fundamental ‘hands on,’ manner. *The objective of this experimentation were two folded: first to give the offspring the opportunity to appreciate the wisdom of ALL THAT EVER WAS and stored within the Prime Creator, and secondly, to have the offspring to thrive and acquire expanded consciousness that would serve to ‘create’ new things. *Thus, the offspring was also endowed with the gift of creationism to compliment the SOURCE. *Therefore, by essence or pedigree, we are ALL creative individuals that portray a ‘chip off the old block.’
Institute of Spiritual Science Inc. Publishing 2016 All Rights Reserved
*And, although we were set ‘free’ to venture out and experiment, experience, learn, improvise, and ultimately create, we were never forsaken or discarded. 37 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
*In contrast, we maintained an ‘umbilical cord’ form of attachment to the SOURCE, always deflecting [away from the SOURCE to venture out] as well as contracting [towards the SOURCE] again to prosper from the wealth of information contained within the SOURCE, and at the same time, remain intuitively attached to the SOURCE. *And, indeed, this gift of intuition describes yet another characteristic essence of our existence as a ‘divine’ being.
be capable of recording its findings as well as being able to play back the results as ‘soul memories,’ in order to review, analyze, decode, and interpret its discoveries at a later ‘time’ in the history of its existence. *Later, the soul came up with the deductive reasoning that it would benefit much more and acquire knowledge much faster if it divided itself into different fragments, each of which having a holographic existence. *And, this is what is commonly meant by a hologram: it is a constituent part of the parent, possessing all inherent characteristic of the whole. *So, each constituent holographic part of the soul was set free to traverse a particular reality, a distinct dimension of consciousness. *And, this is what is commonly referred to as a ‘soul aspect.’ *In order to create the soul aspects it was necessary for the soul to split its consciousness into diverse constituent units each being commensurate with a particular soul aspect.
Soul Vibration *The periodic, repeating cycle of ‘deflection’ and ‘contraction’ constitute the vibrational nature of our existence.
*So, all these soul aspects were set in motion to vibrate simultaneously in different continuums of space and time, each being indigenous to a distinct dimensional consciousness.
*Initially, the repeated cyclic deflection-contraction endeavors of our existence had a much sparser or longer period of vibration characterized by a wider wavelength.
*This way, the soul became multidimensional, vibrating with a multi degree of freedom [MDOF].
*This, in turn, was commensurate with a much lower frequency of vibration depicting a lower state of inherent and acquired consciousness. *This is why we commonly use the measure of ‘frequency’ to quantify our extent of consciousness. *As the offspring ventured out gaining knowledge, it became necessary to have these bits of information recorded within its core. *Thus, while ‘spirit’ is the driving force spearheading the process of motivation in order to acquire further knowledge or wisdom, it was essential for the offspring to have a containment, a vessel, or a ‘body’ of its own. *And, this ‘body’ is what we refer to as the ‘soul,’ whose purpose is to serve as a storage device for the offspring to 38 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
*And, it is the nature of this MDOF system to vibrate at distinct values [called eigenvalues] of frequencies and with a variety of modes of vibration [called eigenvectors]. *The mathematics of the MDOF vibrating system is complex, which is commonly referred to as the ‘eigenvalue problem [8].’ *And, note that this is only true if all the soul aspects are concurrently conscious of the existence of one another. *It turns out that it is essential to embed a soul aspect in a physical body to animate due to its inherent low consciousness. *Furthermore, the soul aspects are usually unaware of one another because of the lower genetic characteristic of the body they reside within.
*This occurs because the bio or physiological traits of such bodies vibrating in relatively low dimensions of consciousness are such that they are incapable of processing a vast amount of data simultaneously acquired by the multiple soul aspects. *The soul aspects acquire their own realities and the information is processed through individual neurological systems [brains] using what is known as the ‘physical conscious’ mind. *The author has also referred to this aspect of consciousness as the ‘outer’ or ‘active’ conscious mind in previous publications.
ural frequency of a soul freely vibration in the cosmos, the natural frequency of an ageing body [as soul aspect] vibrating in a continuum of time and space within a particular dimension of consciousness is envisioned to be less than the natural frequency of a non-ageing entity given above. *The author has derived an expression for the natural frequency of an ageing body [denoted as ωd], which is given by the expression: ωd *Where ζ is referred to as the ‘ageing coefficient,’ and we must always have ζ<1 in order for the system response to be oscillatory or vibrational in nature.
*In contrast, all of the soul aspects are connected via the sub-conscious [or inner or ethereal] mind. *And, the vehicle for accessing and utilization of the sub-conscious mind is ‘intuition,’ which is governed by a much more neurological physical biological organ that we called the heart. *The heart, in turn, works closely with the thymus chakra and its associated endocrine gland by the same name within the physical body. *Note that exciting a multidimensional MDOF soul via resonance is achieved at distinct discrete values [‘eigen’ or ‘only’ values] of natural frequencies with each representing its own mode of vibration. *On the other hand, when each soul aspect is vibrating as a single degree of freedom [SDOF] system, seemingly unaware of the other soul aspects, it will do so at its own inherent value of natural frequency. *The author has demonstrated that natural frequency of a soul aspect vibrating linearly as a SDOF system [ωn] can be given by the expression: ω_n=√(k/m) ω_d=ω_n √(1-ζ^2 *Where m is the body mass and k is a karmic coefficient referred to by the author as the ‘coefficient of consciousness expansibility.’
*It may be shown that while a free soul vibrates as a harmonic oscillator undergoing simple harmonic motion [SHM] with its vibrational amplitude never decreasing in time, an ageing soul aspect in contrast vibrates with a wave profile characterized by an amplitude that is constantly decreasing in time. *And, it is clear that it is the ageing of the biological body that instigates the response waveform to progressively decay in time. *Note in both circumstances, be it a free soul or an ageing soul aspect, we always have the constraint that the entity must deflect infinitesimally from the SOURCE depicting a linear vibrational motion contracting to the SOURCE in due course, thus avoiding excessive accumulation of karma.
*And, the relevance of karma to consciousness expansion is clear as generally a soul aspect void of karma is predisposed to consciousness expansion.
*Otherwise, abusive and extreme accumulation of karma ultimately degrades the coefficient of consciousness expansibility of the soul leading to meniscus natural frequencies of vibration.
*Note that while the above expression governs the nat-
*And, in the event that this occurs [allowed by the soul 39 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
l or soul aspect], the entity eventually seizes to vibrate in time.
*The underlying slogan of propaganda is that the earth humans must go back to get it right this time!
*This depicts a situation that the entity is no longer attached to or guided by the SOURCE.
*Note that although karma and incarnation define the essential ingredient of living existence, reincarnation is not.
*This marks the ‘death’ of the soul in which the soul becomes synthetic not being able to sustain itself in ‘light’ or replenish its vibrational life energies that it needs to be able to perpetuate as a ‘living’ being. *The bible has referred to this as “fallen angels.”
*Therefore, awaken your soul aspect through proper self-reflection and communication with your parent soul, your HIGHERSELF, through allowance and sharpening or recrystallization of your intuitive trait and SAY NO TO REINCARNATION NEXT TIME AROUND.
*And, when this occurs the soul has no alternative but to parasitically feed upon other sentient divine beings. *This is the state of vampirism that governs the life of certain reptilian beings, among which are the Draconians. *Alternatively, through advent of science and digital manipulation of bits of information it is possible to create soul-less yet sentient or conscious beings that do not originate from the body of the Prime Creator. *Examples of such beings often encountered on this Omni Earth are certain Greys and the Archons who have the same vampiric existence. *These entities have commonly manipulated the holographic ‘matrix’ of reality for quite some times. *In fact, they have turned this Omni Earth into a farm whose product is us as living divine beings. *And, presently the machinery of this agrarian mechanism is oiled by the vicious and never-ending cycle of reincarnation by the earth humans. *And, to ensure the continuity or longevity of this horrid apparatus functioning indefinitely they are the gate keepers that persuade earth humans to immediately reincarnate upon this Omni Earth without allowing any freedom for the soul that is, indeed, its inalienable right of existence. *And, the mechanism by which this is achieved is through misinformation and disinformation regarding the much intended nature of karma. *Therefore, karma is used as an excuse and an instrument of guilt and fear in persuading the souls of earth humans to reincarnate in order to relieve their much accumulated karma. 40 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016

The goal of Valeria's publication is to slowly raise our consciousness to a higher state through increased awareness of our behavioral patterns, style of life, and public image. With each issue, FCM shares Valeria's unique color-approach to life, and features extraordinary individuals from fashion, arts, entertainment, business, and wellness industries, who are involved in eco-friendly, sustainable, holistic, and forward-thinking projects. Friendship: Another Word for Love By Aura Imbarus, Ph.D.
Living in a human Babylon, it is hard to find people you can resonate with and who can truly decode your messages. If you can count the fingers of one hand and you have that amount of friends, you are lucky. The ones comforting you in difficult situations, smiling as nothing had happened, the ones touching and holding your hands when the bridges are burnt and the paths contorted or erased are the few ones, the unique ones whom you can call friends. When your spirits sag, they caress you; when your tears wash your cheeks, they embrace you; when grief intrudes, they stand tall and unbeatable in your destiny’s trail. They take you the way you are; they sing with you in happiness and weep with you in sadness. They bring beauty into your world and leave it flawless. They give you confidence when you lack, they give you faith when you deny it; they give you courage when you are weak, they show you patience when you are at the end of your rope, they love you the way you love yourself. They are your friends, and you are lucky! The person who accepts you with your weirdness and upbeat personality, with your petty things and crazy, overwhelming emotions, with your scattered past and rocky present, is your friend. He is the one who respects your roots, smoothens your present, and brightens your future. And as we already know, they are “hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.” In this round world, you will meet people who forget you as you forget others. But once in a blue moon, you encounter that face that will stay with you, imprinted on your mind and carved in your heart for the rest of your life. They are and will be there for you, no matter how the road of your life will twist and turn, how many ups and downs you will have on your rollercoaster ride, and how many people will come in and out of your journey. They were and will be there for you. You know them, and they know you, and still they love you. Well, that is called unconditional friendship. So, how many can you count on the fingers of one hand?

our Main eelings: YManifestation Tool
48 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e August 2016
By Roxana Jones
Last night I had a very informative and enlightening dream. A thunderous voice from above came to me and said out of the blue: “Manifestation only happens through feelings and the majority of people are not feeling one-hundred percent.” I didn’t see myself as part of the dream. Rather, I was only a listener. It was an audible and not a visual experience. It was clear that the message was the focal point as the voice continued with the previous thought: “You all have to reconnect with your sentient being, remember what is like to feel good to be able to achieve and manifest all of your goals.” When I woke up, I knew I had to share this publicly as it made so much sense to me. Our societies have become so fast-paced that we have forgotten how to be fully connected to our feelings. Especially because our egos have taught us so well to apply the mechanism of denial as the best tool to protect us from suffering more of the pain we have experienced in the past, without realizing that it is precisely this denial what is not allowing us to have the good life we all deserve.
49 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e September 2016
When I look at the world, there seems to be a pandemic affecting all those who have forgotten that in order to feel good we must first stop feeling bad and spreading negative energy. It’s sad to admit it but we’re surrounded by “bad feelers.” Just try to observe your interactions with people that you meet during your day. In order for many to start a conversation it’s a normal habit to express a negative thought about a person, event, bad news or any circumstance that will transmit and create bad feelings in you. I tried myself to be aware of this for one whole day, and not that I will be accusing anyone but the conversations with a few acquaintances and colleagues were mainly about the bad weather that day, the economic crisis, the latest political scandal, the flu that didn’t go away, the family member that had been given only six months to live, and last but not least Hollywood’s most recent divorce and legal battle. Many of us are acting as antennas and attractors of bad feelings. We are used to think negatively without even knowing it. This only creates a permanent sense of mediocrity and an okay emotional state, where okay is not synonym of good and it is only a sign of the social conformity which by no means is strong enough to create the positive results we all want in our lives. As the voice in my dream said, our feelings are the ones capable of bringing to our reality whatever it is that we wish for. In other words, what is the reason why something that you want has not manifested yet in your life? You are simply not sending enough good feelings to bring it about. We are convinced that manifesting our dreams only has to do with our mind, therefore with our thoughts. We leave the heart outside of this process, and without the heart—which is the creator of feelings—our creations don’t have enough enthusiasm for their completion. This is why so many of us give up so easily. We get discouraged after seeing that positive thinking is not enough. We know something is missing but we still don’t accept that feelings are truly more powerful than thoughts and that they’re both indispensable in any manifestation process. So what’s the good news? That an instant is all it takes to change any OTP (my abbreviation for Obsolete Thought Pattern) that may be preventing us from feeling good about that which we want to manifest. How can we change these so called OTPs? First we must learn to identify the obsolete thought whenever it appears in our brain and we think it. Then, and this is my own way of doing it on a daily basis (repetition is key,) once we have ‘fished out’ the OTP simply say the word delete to yourself and the OTP will imme50 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
diately be erased for good (it’s just a thought so you control it.) After deleting the old thought, you will want to bring that wish of yours into your mind and practice feeling good about it, loving it as if it’s already yours. You’ll get better as you make it your new habit. I have been doing this for a while and it really works in all aspects of life, no exceptions. I will leave you now with best-selling author, Gregg Braden’s words on a recent interview as they connect very well to this article: “the heart is creating electrical and magnetic waves that are influencing the world around us based on what we think and the emotion that we breathe into those thoughts to create the feeling.” I hope that all this will help you as much as it is helping me. Until next time and don’t forget to be love

A Taste of Heaven-Mind By Patricia Walker

It was supposed to be a simple vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico—one whole, glorious week alone with my husband without our three kids in tow for the first time in years. We had it all planned—we were going lie on the beach, do some deep-sea fishing and enjoy some great Mexican food. Instead, something frightening and wonderful happened—I had an out-ofbody experience during a rock concert while we were there. I saw God and my soul. I never knew such things were possible, let alone under those circumstances. Rock star Sammy Hagar owns a club in Cabo and he happened to be performing there the same week as our visit. My husband knew that Sammy had once been the lead singer of the bands Montrose and Van Halen, and that he had an extensive repertoire of solo albums as well, but I had never heard of him. However, since my husband and I both love rock music, we agreed to check out one of Sammy’s shows while we were on vacation. When I first witnessed Sammy’s live performance, I was riveted. The music had an energy that was so raw, so loud, and so real that I wanted to absorb every bit of it. I couldn’t figure out why I’d never heard it before. Sammy was appearing in several shows that week, and since my husband and I had such a great time at the first one, we decided to take in another. But when I walked through the wrought-iron gates of the cantina that next night expecting merely to enjoy the music of an international recording star, I had no idea that my life was about to change forever. It happened toward the end of the show. With my orange tank top drenched in sweat, I was standing amongst a frenzied mob watching Sammy sing and play his guitar when all of a sudden I started to feel very strange. And despite the fact that it must have been at least two hundred and fifty degrees in the room, I didn’t feel like I was going to pass out; this sensation was beyond anything I’d ever known—like a whisper from another dimension of reality I couldn’t grasp. Before I could gather my thoughts, something familiar and warm began to flow back and forth between Sammy and me. It looked like a liquid band of golden light, but I didn’t see it, I felt it. I blinked my eyes, telling myself that it was just my imagination or that the heat must be taking its toll on me. What else would it be? Besides, why would I feel a connection to someone I didn’t know, someone I’d never even heard of? Pushing the ridiculous thought out of my head, I told myself it was
time to get back to enjoying the concert and to quit being so silly. But apparently, whatever it was that was happening to me had its own agenda. The next thing I knew, my spirit lifted up and out of my body like a camera going out of focus. I wanted to panic, but it happened so fast, I didn’t have time to panic. The higher I rose, the more I became engulfed in a white light and a feeling of ubiquitous joy, total acceptance—pure love. I heard my voice exclaim, “Oh … my … God …” because the feeling was so incredible that I just couldn’t fathom what was going on. And yet, I had to remind myself that the voice belonged to me because at the same time, it was coming from that body dancing in the crowd below that was also me. How could I be in two places at once? I searched my brain for a logical explanation, but all I could come up with was, “Maybe I shouldn’t have had that second margarita! Maybe tequila is some kind of hallucinogen that I’d never heard of.” But my thoughts quickly disintegrated, as with each passing moment, it was becoming increasingly difficult to think. I was going higher and higher, just like the words in the song Sammy was singing. It was then that I realized I could see the words as they came out of Sammy’s mouth; they were tangible objects—light blue and gold and shimmering. My spirit continued to rise and the higher I climbed, the more I absorbed feelings of bliss and ecstasy. I passed through the roof of the building as if it didn’t exist and floated upward through the clouds and into the night sky. I decided that since the sensation was so amazingly wonderful, (and that doesn’t come close to describing it) it was time to let go of the pervading hesitation and doubt I was still clinging to and allow the experience to take me. Higher. The instant I had that notion, the remnants of my remaining thoughts and senses dropped away completely, and I found myself in some other place or realm of consciousness. My body was made of smoke or clouds as a Divine Presence—also made of smoke or clouds—swirled around me and through me like the warm, sweet breath of someone you love with all your might, on your skin. I knew it was God. And we were One; God was me and I was God in some sort of energy that was alive, pulsating, and breathing like a living entity of its own, yet inextricably intertwined with everything that ever was or ever would be.
53 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
I was then shown that God wasn’t a race, a gender or a religion, but a combination of both genders and all races and religions, even the lack of these. And I saw how everything was connected—every grain of sand, every drop of rain, plant, animal, human and nonhuman being in this world and all worlds, including those I’d never considered before. And I knew that the only thing that matters in the universe is love. Every cell in my body was filled with it and overflowing. At the same time, I felt like I was inhaling microscopic grains of truth with every breath I took, because with each inhalation, came more clarity and more and more until I understood—the meaning of life, suffering, the truth to the existence of spirit—everything. Then I saw my soul and the purpose of my life. It was all perfect and simple; and I realized in that moment, that we—human beings—are the ones who make things complex. I was whole for the first time in my life and I never knew I had been so fragmented. The sensation lasted only seconds and before I knew it, I was back in body. I looked around to see if anyone noticed anything, but no one gave any indication that anything out of the ordinary had taken place; they were all enjoying the show. Besides, it was just a rock concert. Wasn’t it? As my awareness of time and place returned, my first thought was, “Maybe somebody slipped something into my drink when I wasn’t looking. That would explain it.” But I also knew that the experience would have lasted for more than a few seconds if someone had drugged me. Then I wondered if perhaps I’d just imagined the whole thing. But why would I and how could I? I didn’t have the sort of imagination it would take to invent an experience like that. Plus, I’d attended hundreds of concerts in my life and nothing remotely like that had ever happened to me. From that instant, something in me was changed. I looked down at my hands and stretched out my arms because it felt like sunshine was streaming out of me. And when the concert ended and I made my way toward the door, I felt like I was walking ten feet above the ground; I was overcome with a joy I didn’t know was possible to feel. The experience opened up something in me, as if a

seed had been planted and it continued to grow. As the months and years passed, I began to see all of life differently—through the eyes of optimism—and I’d never been so happy and energized. Everyone else noticed the change in me too—my husband, my kids, my friends and neighbors—even the clerk at the grocery store. I also developed psychic abilities I never knew I had. Things were happening to me that I didn’t believe were possible—visions of past lives, spirits, angels, aliens, and so much more. I came to the conclusion that either I had completely lost my mind, or I’d been blessed with an incredible gift. But why? Why me? And all due to a rock concert? These things didn’t happen, did they? But they were.

The Heart of
Self-Confidence By Glenn Berger, Ph.D.
In order to accomplish our life goals we need selfconfidence. What is self-confidence, where does it come from, and how do we cultivate it? Mencius, my favorite Chinese Sage, believed that confidence comes from "ch'i," the universal source of energy. This power that moves through us has many names -- eros, elan vital, libido, kundalini. The brilliant philosopher, Paul Tillich, called self-confidence "the courage to be." Possessing this courage means being your authentic self in the face of any danger. Tillich believed that if we lack such confidence it means we are distanced from our essential nature. Mencius believed this, too. His name for our essential nature was heart. This definition of heart as our essential nature has been found around the world throughout history. In one example, St. Augustine said, "The heart is where I am whatever I am." Mencius said, "pity the man who has lost his heart and does not go out and recover it." He, too, believed our lack of strength came from being distanced from what we actually are. Mencius said that when we are connected to our hearts, we have "free-flowing ch'i." This means that when we are our true selves we have the ultimate connection to the endless and powerful supply of energy from the universe. It is when we are in touch with this source that we can do anything we set our minds to. Having this power and confidence is another aspect of our entelechy, that which we are meant to be. We grow this power and self-confidence through being properly parented. When we get what we need from the world, our brain is pumped with chemicals like dopamine, which fills us with energy and con-
fidence. When we are disappointed in life, our dopamine levels drop and we feel like the air has been taken out of our balloon. Getting sufficient positive reflection growing up is the real Popeye's spinach. When we do not get enough positive support growing up, we chronically have low supplies of dopamine. This can lead us to feel enervated and insecure. We learn that being who we truly are is no good, and so we hide those essential aspects of ourselves. We come to believe that we are not the glorious beings that we are. We live in shame, which is the opposite of having "free-flowing ch'i," or self-confidence. Having problems with energy and confidence are sure signs that we have a lost heart. With self-confidence, we believe in our value and capacities. We can face any obstacle. We can handle the risks of rejection, failure, and mistake. When we live in shame, we believe we are less than, and incapable. How do we recover our hearts, develop the courage to be, reconnect with our essential being, and find access to our ch'i? In the fairy tale, Maid Lena, nothing grows in the center of a farm. This is a symbol for a disconnection from heart and ch'i. When we are disconnected from this source of power, there is something in our center where nothing grows. The youngest son, Esben, lives a life mooning about. He is put down by his brothers. He lives in shame, and has no motivation or confidence. After his brothers fail at the task of figuring out why nothing will grow in the center of the farm, Esben determines that he will find out. When his father tries to dissuade him from going, he says, "I'm going, I'm going, I'm going!" When he gets there, he feels fear, but he keeps his feet on the ground, breathes, and determines to face whatever happens.
59 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
A horrific storm begins. He sees three demons flying straight at him. He looks the demons right in the eye. As they get closer they turn into three swans. Then, just before they reach him, they transform into three beautiful princesses. One of the princesses promises to marry him if he spends the following year completing three impossible tasks. When he returns to the farm he looks completely different. He is filled with power and beauty. After fulfilling the princess's wish, they marry and he becomes king. What does this fairy tale have to tell us about recovering our hearts and finding our self-confidence? First, despite the lack of confidence shown in him by others and his own lack of energy, he determines to find the source of his problems. No matter how frightened he is about facing his demons, he doesn't run away. When he does, he discovers that what he had been avoiding actually becomes the source of his inspiration. By going to the empty place and staring down his fears, he becomes transformed. This doesn't mean that his task is complete. In fact, it means that his work now begins. But he now has enough confidence and power to complete the impossible tasks he is given, and in the end he gets all that he desires. To find our hearts and cultivate our self-confidence, we need to follow Esben's path. We need to begin by devoting ourselves to a life-long process of growth. Just like Esben, we must say, "I'm going!" We need to go to the empty place within ourselves no matter how scary that seems. We need to learn how to go within, explore and come to understand ourselves. When we do, what we usually find is that we need to heal the wounds of our childhoods that have resulted in the formation of shame. We must complete the impossible tasks. This means mastering our present. We need to commit ourselves to self-improvement, learning continuously, immersing ourselves in art, spending time in nature, caring for our bodies. We must practice the discipline to recognize and end our negative thinking. Central to finding self-confidence is acting impeccably. As Mencius said, every time we do the right thing, we come into greater contact with our ch'i. We must take responsibility for our destructive behavior patterns and surrender to getting help with our addictions and compulsions. We discover that when we do the right thing, we feel good about ourselves and
60 THEEDENMAGAZINE.COM e October 2016
this is the greatest fuel for the growth of our self-confidence. In order to grow our confidence, we need to have reciprocal, authentic relationships. Like Esben, simply meeting the princess does not win her. He must work to gain her love. We must learn how to communicate and connect with others in true intimacy. This must include both giving and receiving positive validation. Start telling people you know and love that they are extraordinary and you'll find your own confidence growing. Another step in growing our confidence is envisioning a better future. By using the examples of the courageous who have gone before us, we call on them for inspiration and help. We must cultivate an image of ourselves as being that which we desire to be. We need to read stories of heroes like Esben, because when we do we realize that we are potentially kings. To fulfill our nature we simply have to follow the path of the heroes who have gone before. This plan for self-cultivation which provides us access to the "free-flowing ch'i" which is the core of our self-confidence, is known in Asian philosophy as "the Way," or the Dao. When we live in accordance with the way every day, we find our hearts. By living according to our core truths, we will grow in self-confidence until we can overcome any obstacle, face any fear, achieve any goal, and find true fulfillment and happiness. As Esben learned, that which we fear turns out to be the source of our power. When we follow the way, transformation is guaranteed.
