new artists to hire. He requested that the office be both comfortable and traditional. On the left is a Revit rendering of one of the CEO’s offices. Items such as the Firelights by Tecture were selected to promote the concept behind the firm. That concept was to find the diamond in the rough, to search for the hidden gems in the music industry for which no one else was willing to look.

Inspired by nature I was challenged to create patterns and abstractions to promote the design for a maternity wing of a hospital. Top Right: Marker Rendering of a post pardom room. One of the pattern was used to create a storage unit for the patients and their guests to use. Bottom Right: Marker rendering of a delivery room. The colors of this room was inspired by a horse in a summer’s field. Below Left: an abstraction of a microscopic look at moss. Below Center: an abstraction of a horse’s ear. Below Right: an abstraction of a flock of crows; this was later used to create a sculptural piece in the cafeteria.

The Modern Roman The objectives of this project were to produce a spa that would promote health and well-being through space planning, color selection, and overall design. This project was inspired by my studies abroad to the Roman baths just a few months earlier. Golden and purple hues were chosen to represent royalty and elegance to promote the clients self image to a higher sense of living. The space plan was designed to make it easy to transition from the public lobby to the locker room, to the massage and steam rooms. It also allows

the staff to move around without having too much hassle. The Modern Roman was chosen as the name to promote the power and luxury that the Roman empire brought to their time, today. Seen below is a Revit rendering of the lobby area. To the right in the top right corner is a rendered floor plan of the space. Next to it is a cabinet detail, and below that are more details from the massage rooms as well as restroom elevations and ADA requirements.

a vertical experience Under the direction of New York designer Benjamin Noriega Ortiz, I was challenged to design a two story Puerto Rican apartment for one of his private clients.

j

just to the right is a hand marker rendering of the entry in this Puerto Rican residence. The clients requested the staircase create a vertical experience for visitors when the first enter the apartment. Highlighting the Moon System sofa from Zaha Hadid, lacquered ceiling, and Physilia Chandelier from Bespoke Global draws your eyes forward and upward away from the private section of the residence and towards the public section on the second floor. This addresses one of the many challenges faced while designing this project. The clients requested that the private areas of the residence be located on the first floor and the public areas be located on the second floor where they could have access to the outdoor patio.

The bar of the Puerto Rican residence creates a light and happy environment for the clients to entertain their guests in. Right: A marker rendering of the bar in the Puerto Rican residence. The painting on the right is from artist Andrew Atroshenko, a romantic impressionistic Russian artist. This painting was chosen as a tribute to Russia, the country that the wife is from. The stools are Ghost barstools with images of the couples favorite drinks on the backs.

While only permitted 1000 sqft, this home contains a living room, kitchen, guest bathroom, and master suite. Right: A CAD site plan of the home near Park City, Utah. Below: Axonometric 2D drawing of the home done in CAD. This drawing displays the living room, kitchen, and guest bedroom on the first floor; and on the second floor the master suite.

TRAVEL & SKETCHING While studying abroad in Europe, we were assigned to keep a sketch book of the places we had been and things that inspired us. These are a few of the places that inspired me.

T

raveling is one of my favorite things to do, and I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel with the Interior Design Program here at Utah State University to Europe. The trip was modeled after the Grand Tour.

Queens Walk is one of my favorite places in London, it has a great view of the London Bridge and is constantly bustling with people.
