WALL COVERING SHOWROOM

This showroom is located on the first floor of Uptown Apartments in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The design concept for this wall covering showroom was to give a beautiful and elegant space for the wall coverings. This space was enhanced with brass inlaid in the concrete making a unique yet clean look. It also creates a gridded system that defines different spaces throughout the showroom.

Shoe studied

assemblage

This project is based off the design and construction of a shoe. The shoe chosen had a glossy black heel which inspired the reflectivity in the assemblage using a mirror. The movement of the assemblage was inspired from the curvature of the heel. After the shoe was dismantled I discovered a gridded structure and mixed fabric within the shoe which inspired a square pattern that was used throughout. The wood was inspired by the different pieces of fabric found inside the shoe.

SHOE COMPANY HEADQUARTERS This project called to transform the basement and first floor of the Mill Building in central Fayetteville, Arkansas into an office building for an eco-friendly shoe company called Authentic. The vision was to make the employees feel at home while also bringing them inspiration at work. Another goal was to integrate the brand throughout the design.

SAKU SPA Saku Spa is located within the Caddo Resort in Fayetteville, AR. This is an 11,000 square foot spa that celebrates the rituals of the Caddo tribe. Saku provides separate spas for men and woman with a co-ed lounge and services for couples to enjoy together. The concept of the spa has been developed from the Caddos new Fire Ritual, this occurs during the fall where everyone will get together and burn worn out items they no longer needed. After the burning was over all the fires would be put out throughout the entire village. Later on, the high priest would then light a new fire and would share this fire with everyone. The design solution should embody the feeling of transition of turning off and on a fire. Materials and colors relevant to the Caddos rituals are used to create a feeling of warmth.

mixed use GROUP PROJECT

This site is located in the Eastern Market of Detroit, Michigan. The building used to be a truck maintenance facility. The Eastern Market is an area of Detroit that is famously known for their Farmers Market that are located in 6 different sheds and for their murals that are done by local artists. A priority of this project is to provide a space where people of all ages and groups can populate the Eastern Market 7 days a week instead of mainly on the weekends. To do this, the proposal for this mixed use building calls for a residential sector, a hotel, a coffee and beer shop, food incubators, bowling lounge and courtyards.

27

28

The Eastern Market District is largely only used weekends. The goal for this proposal is to create a space that draws people in all 7 days of the week.

THE LOOM CHAIR

The inspiration for this chair was derived from a loom which is meant to weave tapestries. The concept was to turn the chair into a loom where the back side would be woven for a comfortable feel. This is accomplished by drilling holes into the top of the chair where the macramĂŠ rope would go through. Plywood was used to make the seat and top of the chair while Ash was used for the legs of the chair.

LAMP Geometry and transparency were used as an inspiration for this lamp. This began by using a square frame and turning it onto its side to make a diamond shape. This was then set into a rectangular stand with an exposed bulb is to give an organic transparent feel.
