TAPING A WIRE
Materials: ▪ Wire ▪ Floral Tape
Instructions: ▪ Hold wire in one hand and tape in the other ▪ Place tape at the top of the wire and stretch tape down as you roll the wire through your fingers
MAKING A BOW Materials: ▪ Wire ▪ Floral Tape ▪ Acetate Satin Ribbon Instructions: ▪ Tape Wire ▪ Cut 6-7” streamer; set aside ▪ Make small loop around thumb and half twist ▪ Make 3” long loop up, crunch together, half twist ▪ Alternate from top to bottom until there are 5-6 loops on each side ▪ Add streamer to bottom and crunch ribbon together ▪ Place wire through center loop and to the back, pull and twist tightly ▪Fluff
FLOWERS TO WEAR (SINGLE FLOWER CORSAGE) Materials: ▪ 1 Standard Rose ▪ #24 Gauge Wire ▪ Pittosporum Foliage ▪ #28 Gauge Wire ▪ #3 Satin Ribbon ▪ Floral Tape Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Cut 24” wire in half and set aside ▪ Make 3” across bow and fluff using satin ribbon (angle cut ribbon) ▪ Cut stem of rose, leave 1” natural stem ▪ Use the other half of the 24” wire to pierce the ovary of the rose (Pierce Method), fold arms of wire up, mist flower, and set aside ▪ Cut pittosporum, leave 1” natural stem ▪ Use 28” wire (lightest possible) bring through leaves, fold wire down, and wrap one side around twice (Wrap Around Method) ▪ Use floral tape to wrap rose and foliage to cover pierce points and wire (about 3” down) ▪ Inspect guard petals ▪ Bend flower to 45 degree angle to face out ▪ Add corsage pin parallel to stem ▪ Pin on shoulder (bring pin through or around stem/through fabric and back through top)
FLOWERS TO WEAR (WRIST CORSAGE) Materials: ▪ 3’ 12 Gauge Decorative Wire ▪ #9 Sheer Ribbon ▪ 1 Stem Spray Roses ▪ Cold, Oasis Glue Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Twist 12 gauge wire into a spiral on both ends ▪ Wrap the wire around your finger tips to make spirals (make sure there are a lot of curls in the center) ▪ Pound down the wire ▪ Take a yard and a half of the sheer ribbon and tie the center of the ribbon to the center of the wire ▪ Make a puff a quarter down the wire and tie again (repeat at the end of the wire and on the other side) ▪ Cut 3 spray roses (cut the ovary off) ▪ Put adhesive on sepals of the flower (the base) and the base of the ovary ▪ Let the glue set for a few seconds, then nestle roses together on the wire in the center of the wristlet and let dry ▪ Suggestion: Make a focal for spray rose placement rather than placing roses all the way around the cuff. Centralized design. ▪ Lightly mist ▪ Bend around wrist
FLOWERS TO WEAR (BOUTONN I È RE) Materials: ▪ Nest Made of 4’ of Bullion ▪ 1 Bells of Ireland Bract ▪ 1 Corsage Pin ▪ 2’ of 24 Gauge Decorative Wire Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Take bullion and roll into sphere, flatten, and form into a nest ▪ Cut 6” of decorative wire and fold into a bobby pin shape ▪ Place through nest then take the elf cap of bells of Ireland and place it in the center of the nest ▪ Put corsage pin through the middle of the bells of Ireland ▪ Form decorative wire into an L, hold parallel to the pin and wrap it around the base all the way to the bottom ▪ Wrap bottom of pin carefully and cut at the base
FLOWERS TO CARRY Materials: ▪ 5 Midollino Sticks (Armature) ▪ 5 Lilly Grass Blades ▪ 1 Fatsia Leaf ▪ 1 Stem Mimosa ▪ 2 Gerbera ▪ #24 Gauge Decorative Wire ▪ Bullion Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Take bullion and wrap the base of the blades of grass 4x, wrap up the blade with 1/2” space, wrap once at top and reverse back down the blade. Repeat x4 ▪ Tie 2 sticks into a knot (make middle loop 5”) ▪ Take 8” of wire and wrap middle around the middle on both sides ▪ Cut remaining 3 sticks in half, use remaining wire to hold sticks in place perpendicular to hoop (use wire cutters to make tight) ▪ Use 5yds of wire to make webbing across hoop, twist on end, bring across, and thread 3x repeat 6x, ball up remaining wire and thread into place ▪ Put daisy through wiring (one above and one below) ▪ Place mimosa, grass blades, and leaf below ▪ Wad 8yds of bullion to make band to hold together ▪ Weave Lilly grass through webbing (in orbits, not bunny ears) ▪ Mist, and deliver
VASE ARRANGEMENT (INTERLACED STEM METHOD) Materials: ▪ Vase ▪ Mixed Foliages (Salal & Pittosphorum) ▪ 6 Roses ▪ Babies Breath (Gypsophila) Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Fill vase with flower food ▪ Remove foliage below waterline ▪ Add greenery to vase in a low mound using interlaced stem method (network of stems to hold roses in place) ▪ Place first triangle of roses on the rim of the container (full arrangement should be 1 1/2 to 2x the height of the container) ▪ Place second triangle in-between the other triangle ▪ Cloud-like placement of babies breath as filler ▪ Pick up arrangement, remove foliage below waterline, replace in new vase ▪ Mist, and deliver
VASE ARRANGEMENT (TAPED GRID METHOD) Materials: ▪ Vase or Low Bowl ▪ Waterproof Tape ▪ Mixed Foliages (Salal & Pittosphorum) ▪ 6 Roses ▪ Oriental Lilly ▪ Babies Breath (Gypsophila) Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Fill vase with flower food and make a grid around the top with waterproof tape (add an extra band around the perimeter as an “insurance policy” ▪ Put fresh flower food in the container ▪ Start at the rim and add foliage (at an angle) ▪ Add yellow roses in triangular placement ▪ Create mound of foliage (to look like a plant) ▪ Add oriental Lilly (4) (remove anthers) ▪ Add more roses ▪ Add babies breath in sprigs ▪ Mist, and deliver (this arrangement can be made ahead of time)
MOUND CENTERPIECE Materials: ▪ Floral Knife ▪ 1/3 Brick Fresh Floral Foam ▪ 5 Stems Leather Leaf Fern ▪ 3 Roses ▪ 3 Stems Miniature Carnations ▪1 Stem Spray Chrysanthemums

Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Place 1/3 hydrated fresh floral foam in center of container (to hydrate foam fill bin with flower food solution, drop foam in solution and leave it for 30 seconds) ▪ Cut 4 corners off and use waterproof tape to tape mechanic into container. Wrap tightly around edges in 2 parallel bands and add extra around the rim (as insurance) ▪ Think of a 5 pointed star for leather-leaf placement (one at rim of container, angled downward (2 inches of stem in foam), 1 in the middle straight up, and make a triangle around the center) ▪ Fill gaps (be sure to cover foam and tape) ▪ Add pittosphorum (repeat process) ▪ Use roses to make a middle triangle (4” rose stem) ▪ Carnations (1 as tall as container is long in center, other 2” shorter beside it) ▪ Spray Chrysanthemums (use triangular placement and avoid letting flowers touch) ▪ Go back and add foliage in void spots ▪ Miniature carnations (triangular placement) ▪ Add babies breath (it needs to float among the plain of the flowers) ▪ Make sure all mechanics are covered (remember the lower part of the design) ▪ Mist, and deliver

Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Place 1/3 hydrated fresh floral foam in center of container (to hydrate foam fill bin with flower food solution, drop foam in solution and leave it for 30 seconds) ▪ Cut 4 corners off (if it fits snug then there is no need for tape) ▪ Rosemary (1 1/2x length of container) break and widdle, place in side and angle downward ▪ Red Huck (1 1/2x) on the opposite side of the foam ▪ Galax (directly in the center near the bottom on both sides) ▪ Leather leaf (2x height of container) place in center straight up (4”) ▪ Fill 4 corners (group materials, stay within diamond geometry, long and low) ▪ Group salal with rosemary and leather leaf with red huck (fill in the gaps, stay clustered) ▪ Roll galax leaf like a rose and place towards the center using triangular placement ▪ Fill in transition points with scraps ▪ Use eucalyptus berries near the center of the design ▪ Use plumosa as an asymmetrical accent ▪ Make sure all mechanics are covered (remember the lower part of the design) ▪ Mist, and deliver

Instructions: ▪ Get wet paper towel to keep plant material moist ▪ Place 1/3 hydrated fresh floral foam in center of container (to hydrate foam fill bin with flower food solution, drop foam in solution and leave it for 30 seconds) ▪ Myrtle (remove small branches to create a prominent stem) (2 1/2x length) place in the back center of the foam) ▪ 3” myrtle in the very front resting on the rim and work in remaining myrtle ▪ Use red huckleberry to fill in the gaps, keep in the pyramid and work forward in design ▪ Use pittosphorum as the center front focal point ▪ Larkspur (1- least open, 2x length, mirror first placement, 2- downward to left (halfway), 3- downward to right, most open, shorter) ▪ Spider chrysanthemums (largest at lower in focal area, facing towards viewer), (smaller above it, leave foliage if possible, 1 1/2x length, between larkspur placements) ▪ Austromeria (same length at sides (low), 3- triangular placement between spiders) ▪ Use salal to cover foam ▪ Hypericum (sprigs in lower parts of design, 2-a little higher) ▪ Use immature buds as a filler ▪ Make sure all mechanics are covered (remember the lower part of the design) ▪ Mist, and deliver

HELPFUL HINTS ▪ Everything must be “On Time, and Perfect” ▪ Bad things happen to good people all the time, don’t let it be you ▪ Line, Mass, Filler ▪ When in doubt, Use Triangular Placement ▪ Oasis Floral Foam is the best ▪ Always use a floral knife... (blade down, thumb under, pull material away from you) ▪ You should be able to remove all materials except for the filler and still be able to see the geometric shape ▪ Never have foliage below the water line (make stems as long as possible in vase design) ▪ Don’t let moss sit in water (it takes up all the water and makes a huge mess) ▪ Group like materials ▪ Let the material show you how it wants to be used ▪ The focal area should be the area with the greatest concentration of plant materials ▪ Remember and apply the Principles and Elements of design!
