Indira Bailey, Essex County Teacher of the Year and New Jersey Teacher of the Year Finalist will be exhibiting her new artwork “Out of Africa” based on her two Fulbright-Hayes Scholarships to Morocco (2011) and South Africa (2004). Ms. Bailey teaches Commercial Illustration for Essex County Vocational Schools in Bloomfield, NJ. Indira received her BFA in Illustration/ Communication Design from Pratt Institute and MA in Educational Leadership from Kean University. Bailey’s work demonstrates her pride, talent and her genuine interest in showing her experience as an African American woman and her travels abroad in a positive light. Indira’s body of work covers several mediums: graphite, charcoal, acrylic but mainly oil on canvas. Even as a child, Indira knew she wanted to be a successful artist. Her goal was to illustrate the experience and daily life scenes of African Americans in a realistic and enjoyable venue. Ms. Bailey’s has exhibited artwork throughout the tri-state area.
