A panoramic and a cross sectional tomography view may be used to determine the accurate insertion point desired for the placement of the implant.

Marking Point for Placement & Entry point

Entry points for each ORTHO are marked on the patients tissue using the surgical skin marker.

Use of Pilot Drill and Insertion using the Ortho Driver

The 1.5mm tissue punch removes soft tissue and exposes the bone for visual purposes and eliminates the risk of trauma to the adjacent soft tissue

The pilot drill is delicately placed over the entry point and lightly pumped up and down until the cortical plate is penetrated. Sterile irrigation is utilized throughout the drilling procedure. The desired depth is one-third the threaded length of the implant. This completes the drilling phase.

Open the ORTHO vial. Grasp the abutment portion of the implant by using the titanium Ortho Driver. The Ortho Driver has a friction grip and is used to carry the implant to the patients’ mouth, as well as a beginning for the surgical process. After inserting the implant into the pilot opening, rotate clockwise in a slow steady motion while exerting inward pressure, pausing between turns to avoid excessive heat build up.

Alternative Methods of Insertion

Alternative methods of insertion my be used if the proposed site is in an area that cannot accommodate the size of the Ortho Driver. These methods include:

1. The Ratchet Wrench 2. The Winged Thumb Wrench

3. Finger Driver

The method of insertion is left to the clinician's preference since all are able to seat the implant in the same fashion as the Ortho Driver.

Post Operative

Suggested post operative views are a lateral ceph and periapical view of each implant.
