Launching Maslen Estate Agents in 1999, his vision was to be the agent of choice in Brighton and Hove. A business built on integrity, he’d put the customer first every time. Fast-forward 21 years and the company has three branches across the city. With an independent approach, they all champion David’s commitment to customer care. How do they do it? It’s simple. 7 tips to prepare for the 2020 property market Have a good clear-out

Give your garden a groom

Take the time to declutter and, importantly, de-personalise. Essentially, buyers want to see themselves in your home - so put away any personal items that could shatter the illusion.

This can often get neglected - especially in the winter. So remember to mow the lawns - front and back - and pull out those pesky weeds. Give the shed a quick varnish if it’s looking a bit tired and jet-wash the decking or patio. Even small touches like hiding away the bins can make a big difference. Speaking of which...

Hire a professional cleaner Although you can do this yourself, it’s a good idea to hire a professional to help. Imagine you’re renting the property and looking to get your deposit back. Shower doors, ovens and all those nooks and crannies - you want your property looking at its absolute best.

Try a fresh coat of paint Unfortunately, this isn’t a small job - we know. However, painting the walls in a nice neutral colour will, again, help a potential buyer visualise themselves living there. It will also make the place feel brighter and cleaner. Which leads us to our next point...

Take some time for DIY It’s time to complete all of those DIY projects you’ve been putting off – especially in the bathroom and kitchen. However, if you’re thinking of carrying out major work, have a chat with us first. First impressions checklist In all of the commotion, it can be easy to forget those little things. With that in mind, here are some handy tips to make sure you make the right impression at viewings: • Ensure your front garden is neat and tidy
