Sound Lab is a skill share music hall. Divided into three distinct programs, the space contains merchandise (market hall), talent (concert hall), and skill (music hall) after the three byproducts of a musician. Dedicated to the production and distribution of music, Sound Lab offers the community of Benson a creative environment at the threshold of downtown. Additionally, there is a strong focus on balancing public and private spaces, while also negotiating views down Benson’s commercial corridor and Radial Highway. Programmatic efficiency offers the Sound Lab a diverse way of interacting with the space including a performance stair, as well as hinged and sliding area expansions. Lastly, the two floors of this music hall are united through large public spaces, continually stressing a skill share mentality.
