Master Builders of Iowa strives to be the essential resource for Iowa’s construction industry and a valuable component of that effort are those companies who support MBI’s programs and events. Through the exclusive “Essential Partners” recognition program, MBI strives to recognize our industry supporters, while adding value to those companies’ sponsorship dollars who take leadership roles in sponsoring MBI events and educational opportunities. The company listed has contributed over $3,000 in sponsorships to the Master Builders of Iowa in the past year. These companies are an important part of MBI’s success and we couldn’t do it without them! For more information on becoming an MBI “Essential Partner,” please contact Chad Kleppe at CKleppe@MBI.Build / (515) 657-4382 or visit www.mbi.build/essential-partners. Connecting Future Employees to MBI Members

BY ADAM DOBRASKA MEMBER SERVICES ASSOCIATE

At MBI, we pride ourselves in making sure that the future is bright and plentiful in terms of workforce and talent development. Our members deserve the best employees, and it is our focus to help them to be able to recruit ready and reliable people. One way of ensuring our commitment to driving the workforce initiative is to host our Build Iowa Career Fairs. Each year we look forward to building on the success from the previous years regarding the overall impact that the Build Iowa Career Fairs has had on not only the students, but also our members that hire them.

By the time this article is published, we will have hosted three of our Build Iowa Career Fairs. Many students were unaware of the amazing opportunities that the trades are able to provide them, so it is very rewarding both personally and professionally to see that they reach their full potential by making the transition into the industry. The Build Iowa Career Fairs are so popular amongst members, that vendor space fills up very shortly after we post about it. These Career Fairs show students, parents, and educators just how vital the construction industry is, and the great opportunities it provides. A brief rundown of how we conduct the Career Fairs is that we start with a short opening program to highlight the information and resources available to them. After the short opening, they are free to interact with MBI member companies and ask questions, followed up with a lunch that we will provide. Connecting these companies with students is a great passion of ours that we don’t take

Members have had the FREE opportunity to show these 11th, 12th, and community college age students why they might be a good fit for their company. These Career Fairs are the perfect time for members to showcase their company culture. Members have always been interested in marketing their company to future employees, especially in a time where workforce is the number one issue throughout the state. MBI is the bridge that helps fill the gap between members/employers and future employees, and we take that responsibility in stride and we are extremely happy to do so. At the end of the day, our overall goal is to further move the needle on the commercial construction industry, and the Build Iowa Career Fairs does that in such a positive way!

For future reference, if you are interested in the Build Iowa Career Fairs, please don’t hesitate to contact Adam DoBraska at ADoBraska@MBI.Build, or 515-777-5054.
