Objective My objective is to obtain an internship in an architectural firm that will further push my knowledge in computerbased software and renderings. Obtaining an internship would give me the experience of working in the field at a fast-paced reality where results are demanded and failure/delays are not options. Being an ambitious person has always pushed me to exceed people’s expectations and to always push myself forward and further away from my comfort zone.

Experience M.Mata’s Painting

Summer 2011- Current

Handyman at my father’s remodeling company. My job specifications at this company were to be a helper at the beginning (aiding the handyman with tools, small jobs, things needed to complete the job). Afterwards, I was promoted to handyman were I would be at a job and my father would be at another job. This gave me a sense of responsibility was I had to get the job done on time and with accuracy. Wann Construction

Handyman at Wann Construction, another remodeling company. My job specifications were the same as M.Mata’s Painting and the only difference is that I had a different boss. The jobs were very similar as well as the pay. Hobby Lobby Stockman

My job specifications at this facility is to maintain the store products in order, maintain the sales floor clean, answer calls to stockman- related customer support and maintain the restroom facilities clean for customer use.

Education Prairie View A&M University

June 2014-Current

I am currently studying at PVAMU and I plan to mayor in Architecture and minor in Construction Science. I am a junior by classification with 75 college hours. During the summer of 2014, I was able to enroll in the Architecture Concepts Institute Program, which advanced me 2 full college semesters in 2 months. While taking this course, we emphasized our work using AutoCAD and Sketch UP. During the fall semester of 2014, I was able to enroll in a CAD class taught by Professor William Batson in which he reinstated my knowledge that I already had in AutoCAD, which keyboard shortcuts to work smarter and faster than before. I enrolled in the architecture studio of Professor Juanita Jimenez. During this course, I was able to practice my skills on AutoCAD and Sketch UP. Eisenhower High School

August 2010-June 2014

Eisenhower was my high school for the 4 years. During my freshman year, I enrolled in an engineerbased class on which we used a program to make bridges. Afterwards, we built the bridges out of balsa wood and wood glue with structural supports. During my sophomore year, I was able to take an engineering class on which I was introduced to AutoCAD. At the beginning of my junior year there, I enrolled in an architecture class, taught by a Mr. Cody Arkadie, a PVAMU alumni, who was able to help me familiarize me better with AutoCAD and introduced me to Google Sketch UP. I continued the course into “Advanced Architectural Design”. A Mr. Raymond Steath, PVAMU alumni, taught the continuation of the course after Mr. Arkadie took a

job offer at Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, Engineers, and Planers firm located at Orlando, Florida. The course taught by Mr. Steath emphasized the profound use of AutoCAD in which I was introduced to layers, line weights, plotting and 3D modeling.

Martin Puryear Gallery Architecture Design 6, Spring 2016 Instructor: Ross Weinert Houston, TX, US

For this project, we were tasked to create a building that would house 12 pieces of art by Martin Puryear. The site was located near the Menial Collection and Rothko Chapel in Houston, Texas. My design revolved around the 9- square grid. Using the precedent such as the “Neue Staatsgalerie” and the “Red Trilogy” by James Stirling, I focused on designing similar features to the natural lighting and gallery spaces to my building. The grid concept helped me greatly when deciding how the floor plan would come together with the art pieces. For this project, I focused my design greatly on the aspect that it would be situated within a neighborhood. I aimed to not make it stand out but to look more like a modernized house instead of a concrete block. We were tasked to focus greatly on the aspect of natural light and to reduce the amount of artificial light as much as possible.

A Twisting Tower Advanced CAD, Spring 2016 Instructor: Rania Labib Dallas, TX, US

During this project, I was tasked to develop, illustrate, and present a conceptual design proposal using Rhino as the core modeling and illustration tool. Rhino Modeling software, Grasshopper, and Lumion 6.0 rendering software were used in the conceptual design of this project. I decided to do a tower and twist it. I wanted to design something that would defy the laws of physics but would display the fact that I knew how to manipulate objects in Rhino. It was a very fun process with Grasshopper as well. I really enjoyed the interactive factors that Grasshopper add that allows people to use the keyboard more than using the interface.

Farmer’s Market Architecture Design 5, Fall 2015 Instructor: Ross Weinert Prairie View, TX, US

The Farmer’s Market project was a a project in which I was commissioned to design a business space at the site of 711 University Dr, Prairie View, Texas. The main aspects of the design was to have a roofing system that would capture rainwater to later be used as gray water. It was a design that required us to only focus on the design of the roof and the structure on which it would be sitting on. I had the idea of bringing together a minimalistic design that would’ve focus to much on aesthetics as it would do on the function. One of the ideas I wanted to bring into this project was to kinetic architecture. I wanted to develop a system that would allow individual roof panels to move up and down with a system of steel cables and pulleys. The roof panels would have to be strong enough to support the weight of the rainwater but also light enough to be able to move up and down. My ideas were developed in a couple of sketches to figure out the correct angle of inclination and aversion. The system would be able to incline to capture rainwater but also decline to provide more shade to the employees and customers of the Farmer’s Market.

Ind. Heights Library Architecture Design 5, Fall 2015 Instructor: Ross Weinert Houston , TX, US

The Independence Heights Library was a project in which I was tasked to design a building that would occupy an outdoor plaza, gallery space, kitchen, quiet space, book stacks, periodicals, archives, children’s space and computer labs. It also required me to have “monumental” stairs that would go through all 3 floors. The purpose was to make a building accessible to the students of Burrus elementary and the elderly of the community. With gang affiliation so strong and dense in the community, if the kids are not given something to keep them off the streets, then they run the possibility of being influenced in a negative way. The site chosen is near Burrus Elementary. Located where a condemned house stands at the moment, the site was split into 2 lots, one larger than the other. One of my concept ideas was to develop the building into 2 spaces and reshaping the road into the required plaza space. I integrated a skybridge that would connect the two building together but would allow for people to enjoy the 1st floor outdoor plaza without disruptions. For this project, the ultimate goal was to comprehend how to develop a building that would house everything, yet retain a reference to the history of the site. It was a space that would appeal to all ages.

Parametric BIM Advcanced CAD, Spring 2016 Instructor: Rania Labib International locations

For this project, we were asked to develop 4 things using Revit Architecture. Create a parametric, conceptual mass family for your building Create a parametric envelope (facade) family for your building Create a BIM project Create 2 photo realistic renders We were given a series of buildings to choose from as sample studies. However, if we didn’t find one we liked, we were able to choose our own building as long as it was based off an existing building. We were also able to modify the building in any way we wanted. I was familiar with making custom curtain wall patterns and therefore, I went in that particular direction for my project. Having extra time, I was able to do multiple projects to understand the Revit interface until I could make something to my standards.
