PERMITS, ZONING PLANS
Viewing the development plan
A development plan contains the rules of the municipality about building and renovation, the use of buildings and the (land) area of the municipality. You can view the development plans of the municipality of Amsterdam online at www.ruimtelijkeplannen.nl. You fill in the address of which you want to know what it may be used for according to the development plan. For example for living, business activities, traffic or recreation.
Act on General Provisions for Environmental Law (Wabo)
Do you want to build or renovate? Repair the foundation, build a roof terrace, build a new houseboat, cut a tree in your garden? Or change something else to your environment? You may need an environmental permit. The environmental permit is a permit for, for example, building, changing a monument or cutting down a tree. The environmental permit replaces several separate permits, such as the building permit. It is possible to include several activities in a single application. For example, for building and cutting a tree.
Permit check
Not all activities require a permit. Do you want to know whether you need a permit? Do the permit check on www.vergunningcheck.amsterdam.nl. You can apply for an environmental permit online or in writing Both options are available via the central system “Omgevingsloket online” (www.omgevingsloket.nl). You can indicate the activities for which you wish to submit the application at the Environmental Desk.
Online application
For an online application, you will need either DigiD or eHerkenning. DigiD is for individuals, eHerkenning for companies. For foreigners with a European logon, eIDAS is required. Go to www.omgevingsloket.nl. Complete the questionnaire and add the appendices. You can follow the status of your application via Environmental Desk online.
