Rule (IV): Solve the expression as define by the operators as in above example it solved as subtract the 4 form 5 and denominator will remain same as (5 – 4) / 2 = 1 / 2 (answer). When we talk about subtraction of the fractions with different denominator then it will also be solved as using the above rules we can understand it by taking an example of fractions with different denominators as an expression 1 / 2 – 1 / 4 in this given expression two fractions 1 / 2 and 1 / 4 have different denominator 2 and 4 respectively then it is solved as: Rule (I): First write them in form of fractions that is already in that format and calculate the LCM of denominators of fraction that means LCM of 2 and 4 is 4.
