District Ten
Connee Sullivan Deceased: 11-30-13 Altrusan: 17 years Charter Member of the Palisade, CO A good heart and concern for others pushed Connee to live her life helping others in spite of her own serious health problems. Connee’s courage shined as she recovered from a serious stroke in the early 1990’s. She had to re-learn how to speak, read and write. Her sense of humor comforted those around her during this learning process; when she could not verbally express herself, she would just laugh and say, “It won’t come out”.
Her intelligence did not fail as she not only “again” mastered the English Language, but, Spanish as well and she put these skills to use as she volunteered at the Hospice of Western Colorado. She continued with hospice until her health prevented it at age 85. Her courage and dedication to volunteerism made her a prime candidate for Altrusa. She continued her service, as her health allowed, until her passing. Her sense of community kept her going and inspired her fellow Altrusans.
