Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival / Bunzlauer Keramikfest
Pierwsze Targi Ceramiki Bolesławieckiej odbyły się w trakcie obchodów Dni Bolesławca w maju 1994 roku. Kontynuowano je pod różnymi nazwami: „Targi Ceramiki i Szkła w Bolesławcu”, „Bolesławiecki Kiermasz Ceramiki” przez cztery kolejne lata, a w roku 1999 stały się częścią ogromnej, plenerowej imprezy, która pod nazwą „Bolesławieckie Święto Ceramiki” funkcjonuje do dziś. Początkowo organizację targów ceramiki w „mieście dobrej gliny” powierzono Wydziałowi Rozwoju Gospodarczego i Promocji Urzędu Miasta Bolesławiec. Do współpracy zapraszano instytucje, zakłady pracy, stowarzyszenia, media, artystów różnych dziedzin, organizacje, osoby prywatne, przede wszystkim zaś producentów ceramiki. Zorganizowano wystawy promujące „bolesławieckie złoto” w miastach partnerskich: Pirnie, Hobro, Libercu oraz w Görlitz. Ogromny wkład w rozwój i promocję Święta Ceramiki miał i ma odbywający się cyklicznie od 1964 roku prestiżowy Międzynarodowy Plener Ceramiczno – Rzeźbiarski, który skupia artystów plastyków z różnych stron świata. Od roku 2004 organizacją Bolesławieckiego Święta Ceramiki zajmuje się Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury (obecna nazwa - Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury - Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki). Impreza rozrasta się z roku na rok. Przybywa pomysłów, ludzi, wystawców, imprez towarzyszących, jednak pewne elementy tego wielkiego świętowania 4
pozostają niezmienne. Trudno wyobrazić sobie rozpoczęcie święta bez przepięknej, widowiskowej, wielobarwnej Parady Ceramicznej wędrującej ulicami miasta, prowadzonej przez Starszego Mistrza Bolesławieckiego Bractwa Ceramicznego. To właśnie on odbiera z rąk Prezydenta Miasta symboliczne klucze do bram miasta. Nieodzownym elementem Święta Ceramiki jest Ceramiczny Kiermasz, podczas którego producenci z Bolesławca oraz innych miast Polski i Europy prezentują i sprzedają swoje wyroby. Inne, stałe atrakcje to: Giełda Staroci, Plener Ceramiczno – Rzeźbiarski, piec ceramiczny, Miasteczko Animacji Ceramicznych, Wesołe Miasteczko, wystawy towarzyszące oraz trwające trzy dni występy i koncerty największych artystów estrady polskiej i zagranicznej. Obecnie, trwające 5 dni targi ceramiczne, są największym tego typu wydarzeniem w Polsce oraz jednym z największych w Europie. Skupiają ponad 100 wystawców – producentów ceramiki, sprzedających swoje piękne, ręcznie malowane wyroby w bardzo korzystnych cenach. Z przebogatej oferty Bolesławieckiego Święta Ceramiki korzysta ok. 200 tys. ludzi, a najliczniejszą grupą turystów odwiedzających Bolesławiec podczas święta są goście z Japonii. Patronat honorowy nad tegoroczną 25. edycją Bolesławieckiego Święta Ceramiki objął Prezydent RP Andrzej Duda.
The first Bolesławiec Ceramics Fair was held during the celebration of Bolesławiec Days in May 1994. They were continued under different names: The „Ceramics and Glass Fair in Bolesławiec”, „Bolesławiec Ceramics Fair” for four consecutive years, and in 1999 they became part of a huge outdoor event, which is still functioning today under the name „Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival”. Initially, the organization of the ceramics fair in the „city of good clay” was entrusted to the Department of Economic Development and Promotion of the Bolesławiec City Hall. Institutions, workplaces, associations, media, artists from various fields, organizations, private individuals, and above all ceramic producers, were invited to cooperate. Exhibitions promoting „Boleslawiec gold” were organized in partner cities: Pirnie, Hobro, Liberec and Görlitz. A huge contribution to the development and promotion of the Ceramics Festival has been made by the prestigious International Ceramics and Sculpture Plein-Air event, held regularly since 1964, which brings together artists from all over the world. Since 2004 the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival has been organized by the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre (the current name is Bolesławiec Cultural Centre - International Ceramics Centre). The event grows every year. There are more and more ideas, people, exhibitors and accompanying events, but
some elements of this great celebration remain unchanged. It is hard to imagine the beginning of the holiday without a beautiful, spectacular, multicoloured Ceramic Parade, wandering through the streets of the city, led by the Senior Master of the Bolesławiec Ceramic Brotherhood. It is he who receives the symbolic keys to the city gates from the Mayor of the City. An indispensable element of the Ceramics Festival is the Ceramic Fair, during which producers from Bolesławiec, other Polish and European cities present and sell their products. Other permanent attractions are: Antiques Trade Exchange, Ceramic and Sculptural Outdoor Exhibition, ceramic furnace, Ceramic Animation Town, amusement park, accompanying exhibitions and three-day performances and concerts of the greatest Polish and foreign artists. Currently, the 5-day ceramic trade fair is the largest event of its kind in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. It gather more than 100 exhibitors - ceramics producers, selling their beautiful hand-painted products at very favorable prices. The rich offer of Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival is used by about 200 thousand people, and the most numerous group of tourists visiting Bolesławiec during the festival are guests from Japan. Honorary patronage over this year’s 25th edition of Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival was taken by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.
Die erste Targi Ceramiki Bolesławieckiej [dt. Bunzlauer Keramik-Messe] fand im Mai 1994 anlässlich der Tage der Stadt Bolesławiec statt. Sie wurden unter verschiedenen Namen fortgesetzt: „Targi Ceramiki i Szkła w Bolesławcu” [dt. Keramikund Glasmesse in Bolesławiec], „Bolesławiecki Kiermasz Ceramiki” [dt. Bunzlauer Keramik-Markt] über die nächsten vier Jahre und wurde 1999 schließlich ein Teil einer großen Freilicht-Veranstaltung, die unter dem Namen „Bolesławieckie Święto Ceramiki” [dt. Bunzlauer Keramikfest] noch heute funktioniert. Die Organisation der Keramik-Messe in der „Stadt des guten Tons” wurde zunächst der Abteilung für wirtschaftliche Entwicklung und Förderung des Rathauses von Bolesławiec übertragen. Es wurden Institutionen, Arbeitsstätten, Verbände, Medien, Künstler aus verschiedenen Bereichen, Organisationen, Privatpersonen und vor allem Keramikproduzenten zum Mitmachen eingeladen.
In den Partnerstädten Pirna, Hobro, Liberec und in Görlitz wurden Ausstellungen für „Gold von Bolesławiec” organisiert. Einen großen Beitrag zur Entwicklung und Förderung des Keramikfestes leiste und immer noch leistet das seit 1964 regelmäßig stattfindende renommierte Internationale Freilicht-Treffen für Keramik und Bildhauerei, in dem Künstler aus verschiedenen Teilen der Welt zusammenkommen. Seit 2004 ist für die Veranstaltung des Bunzlauer Keramikfestes das Kulturzentrum Bolesławiec verantwortlich (heutiger Name - Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury - Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki [dt. Kulturzentrum Bolesławiec - Internationales Keramikzentrum]). Die Veranstaltung wächst von Jahr zu Jahr. Es gibt immer mehr Ideen, Menschen, Aussteller und Begleitveranstaltungen, aber einige Elemente dieser großen Feier bleiben unverändert. Es ist kaum vorstellbar, dass das Fest ohne der wunderschönen, spektakulären, bunten 5
Keramikparade, die durch die Straßen der Stadt zieht, geführt vom Obermeister der Bruderschaft Bunzlauer Keramik, beginnen könnte. Er ist es, der vom Präsidenten der Stadt symbolische Schlüssel für die Stadttore erhält. Ein unverzichtbares Element des Keramikfestivals ist die Keramik-Messe, auf der Produzenten aus Bolesławiec, anderen polnischen und europäischen Städten ihre Produkte präsentieren und verkaufen. Andere, feste Attrakti-

onen sind: Antiquitäten-Börse, Freilicht-Treffen für Keramik und Bildhauerei, Keramikofen, Festplatz für Keramik-Animationen, Rummelplatz, begleitende Ausstellungen und drei Tage andauernde Auftritte und Konzerte der größten polnischen und ausländischen Unterhaltungskünstler. Die derzeit fünf Tage andauernde Keramik-Messe ist die größte Veranstaltung dieser Art in Polen und eine der größten in Europa. Sie ver-
sammelt über 100 Aussteller - Keramikhersteller, die ihre schönen, handbemalten Produkte zu sehr guten Preisen verkaufen. Das sehr reiche Angebot des Bunzlazer Keramikfestes wird von ca. 200.000 Menschen in Anspruch genommen. Die meisten Touristen, die in den Ferien nach Bolesławiec kommen, sind Gäste aus Japan. Die Ehren-Schirmherrschaft für die diesjährige 25. Ausgabe des Bunzlauer Keramikfestes übernahm der Staatspräsident von Polen Andrzej Duda.

The unusual color of Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival is enhanced by various artistic undertakings: street theatre performances, happenings, Glina Show, Festival of Colors, performances and concerts of Polish and foreign stage artists. On the stages in Bolesławiec there were presented, among others: Zakopower, Bajm, Perfect, Genesis, Sonique, Kombii, Ewa Farna, Piersi, Michał Szpak, Lombard, Poparzeni Kawą Trzy, Electric Light Orchestra, Pectus, Kate Ryan and other well-known performers.
Der einzigartige, bunte Charakter des Bunzlauer Keramikfestes wird durch verschiedene künstlerische Unternehmungen ergänzt: Straßentheateraufführungen, Happenings, Clay Show, Farbenfestival, Aufführungen und Konzerte polnischer und ausländischer Unterhaltungskünstler. Die Bolesławiec-Szenen zeigten unter anderem: Zakopower, Bajm, Perfect, Genesis, Sonique, Kombii, Ewa Farna, Piersi, Michał Szpak, Lombard, Poparzeni Kawą Trzy, Electric Light Orchestra, Pectus, Kate Ryan sowie andere bekannten Entertainer.

Święto bolesławieckiej ceramiki rokrocznie otwiera barwna, widowiskowa, przyciągająca rzesze uczestników oraz obserwatorów… parada ceramiczna. Wędrujący ulicami miasta kolorowy korowód, tworzący atmosferę radosnego karnawału to ogromne przedsięwzięcie mające na celu podkreślenie tradycji ceramicznych Bolesławca. Parada przemierza Rynek i kieruje się do sceny głównej, na której symboliczne przekazanie kluczy do bram miasta przez Prezydenta Bolesławca na ręce Starszego Mistrza Bractwa Ceramicznego oficjalnie inauguruje największą plenerową imprezę regionu. Dodatkową atrakcją parady jest konkurs na najciekawszą prezentację artystycznie nawiązującą do bolesławieckich symboli ceramicznych. Jego uczestnicy rywalizują w pomysłach na stroje, piosenki oraz inne formy ekspresji odnoszące się do tematyki Bolesławieckiego Święta Ceramiki.
Every year the celebration of Bolesławiec ceramics opens with a colorful, spectacular, attracting crowds of participants and observers... a ceramic parade. A colorful procession wandering through the streets of the city creating the atmosphere of a joyful carnival is a huge undertaking aimed at emphasizing the ceramic traditions of Bolesławiec. The parade crosses the Market Square and heads towards the main stage, where the symbolic handing over of the keys to the city gates by the President of Bolesławiec to the Senior Master of the Ceramic Brotherhood officially inaugurates the largest outdoor event in the region. An additional attraction of the parade is a competition for the most interesting presentation referring artistically to the symbols of Bolesławiec ceramics. Its participants compete in ideas for costumes, songs and other forms of expression related to the theme of Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival.
Das Bunzlauer Keramikfest wird jedes Jahr mit einer farbenfrohen, spektakulären Keramikparade eröffnet, die zahlreiche Teilnehmer und Beobachter anzieht ... Keramikparade. Der bunte Umzug durch die Straßen der Stadt, der die Atmosphäre eines fröhlichen Karnevals schafft, ist ein großes Unterfangen, das darauf abzielt, die Keramiktradition von Bolesławiec herauszustellen. Die Parade überquert den Marktplatz und geht zur Hauptbühne, wo die symbolische Übergabe der Schlüssel zu den Stadttoren durch den Präsidenten von Bolesławiec an den Obermeister der Bruderschaft Bunzlauer Keramik offiziell die größte Freiluftveranstaltung der Region eröffnet. Eine weitere Attraktion der Parade ist der Wettbewerb für die interessanteste Präsentation, die sich künstlerisch auf die Bunzlauer Keramiksymbole bezieht. Die Teilnehmer konkurrieren in Ideen für Kostüme, Lieder und andere Formen des Ausdrucks, rund um das Thema des Bunzlauer Keramikfestes.

Jedną z ciekawszych atrakcji Bolesławieckiego Święta Ceramiki, gromadzącą tłumy ludzi i wywołującą niezwykłe emocje, jest tzw. piec plenerowy. Symbolika pieca wiąże się z wizytówką Bolesławca, którą jest ceramika, a jego twórca za pomocą artystycznych środków przekazu (światło, dźwięk, forma) wprowadza widza w proces wypału. Po zapadnięciu zmroku, piece prezentują swoje niezwykłe piękno w pełnej krasie i od wielu lat stanowią niezwykłą, świetlistą kulminację wieczoru. Pomysłów na nie było wiele. Instalacje wykonywano m.in. z papieru, ze szkła i ze stali. Był piec węgierski, którego kształt oraz wielkość dostosowane są do wielkości wypalanej formy, piec rzymski, raku wywodzący się z Japonii i wiele innych. Twórcy tego niezwykłego widowiska to m.in.: Maria Kędzierska, Jacek Tratkiewicz, Normunds Langis, Wojciech Tężycki. Do historii przeszedł piec z 2010 roku nawiązujący swym kształtem do słynnego, najdłuższego w Europie bolesławieckiego wiaduktu kolejowego, zaprojektowany i wykonany przez Mateusza Grobelnego – znanego bolesławieckiego artystę ceramika. Najnowszym dziełem artysty są ceramiczne ławki zdobiące Rynek miejskiej starówki.
One of the most interesting attractions of Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival, gathering crowds of people and evoking unusual emotions, is the so-called outdoor furnace. The symbolism of the furnace is connected with Bolesławiec’s showcase, which is ceramics, and its creator introduces the viewer to the firing process through artistic means (light, sound, form). After dark, the furnaces present their extraordinary beauty in full glory and for many years have been an extraordinary, luminous culmination of the evening. There were many ideas for them. The installations were made, among others, of paper, glass, and steel. There was a Hungarian furnace, the shape and size of which are adapted to the size of the fired form, a Roman furnace, “raku” originating from Japan and many others. The creators of this extraordinary spectacle are, among others: Maria Kędzierska, Jacek Tratkiewicz, Normunds Langis, Wojciech Tężycki. The furnace from 2010, referring in its shape to the famous, the longest railway viaduct in Europe, designed and made by Mateusz Grobelny - a well-known Bolesławiec ceramics artist, has become a part of history. The artist’s latest work are ceramic benches decorating the Old Town Market Square.
Eine der interessantesten Attraktionen des Bunzlauer Keramikfestes, die Menschenmassen versammelt und außergewöhnliche Emotionen hervorruft, ist der sogenannte Freiluft-Ofen. Die Symbolik des Ofens ist mit dem Markenzeichen von Bolesławiec verbunden, der aus Keramik besteht, und sein Schöpfer verwendet die künstlerischen Vermittlungswege (Licht, Ton, Form), um den Betrachter in den Brennprozess einzuführen. Nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit präsentieren die Öfen ihre einzigartige Schönheit in all ihrer Pracht und sind seit vielen Jahren ein bemerkenswerter, leuchtender Höhepunkt des Abends. Es gab viele Ideen für sie. Unter anderem wurden Installationen aus Papier, Glas und Stahl vorgenommen. Es gab einen ungarischen Ofen, dessen Form und Größe an die Größe der gebackenen Form angepasst werden, einen römischen Ofen, einen Raku-Ofen aus Japan und viele andere. Die Autoren dieses außergewöhnlichen Spektakels sind: Maria Kędzierska, Jacek Tratkiewicz, Normunds Langis, Wojciech Tężycki. Zur Geschichte wurde ein Ofen vom 2010, der mit seiner Form an die berühmte, längste in Europa Bahnüberführung von Bolesławiec anknüpfte, der von Mateusz Grobelny - den bekannten Keramikkünstler aus Bolesławiec – entworfen und hergestellt wurde. Das neueste Werk des Künstlers sind Keramikbänke, die den Altstädter Marktplatz schmücken. 38

Miasteczko to miejsce, w którym dorośli, jak i dzieci, w atmosferze dobrej zabawy mogą samodzielnie spróbować swoich sił w tworzeniu prostych form ceramicznych pod życzliwym okiem instruktorów. Można tu własnoręcznie ulepić ceramiczne naczynia, pomalować biskwity, zmierzyć się z kołem garncarskim, uczestniczyć w grach, zabawach, pokazach, warsztatach i happeningach skierowanych głównie do dzieci i młodzieży. Każdy, kto bierze udział w Bolesławieckim Święcie Ceramiki, powinien odwiedzić to magiczne, pełne śmiechu i twórczej pasji miejsce. Bez wątpienia jest to doskonały pomysł na wspólne spędzanie czasu dla całych rodzin, bo każdy, niezależnie od wieku, znajdzie tu coś dla siebie.
The town is a place where adults and children can try their hand at creating simple ceramic forms under the friendly guidance of instructors. Here you can make your own ceramic dishes, paint biscuit porcelain, face the potter’s wheel, participate in games, games, shows, workshops and happenings addressed mainly to children and teenagers. Everyone who takes part in the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival should visit this magical place, full of laughter and creative passion. Undoubtedly, this is a great idea for spending time together for whole families, because everyone, regardless of age, will find something for themselves.
Der Festplatz ist ein Ort, an dem sowohl Erwachsene als auch Kinder in einer Atmosphäre voller Spaß versuchen können, einfache Keramikformen unter Anleitung von freundlichen Lehrern herzustellen. Sie können hier eigenhändig Keramikgeschirr basteln, Biskuitporzellan malen, Arbeit an einer Töpferscheibe ausprobieren, an Spielen, Vorführungen, Workshops und Veranstaltungen teilnehmen, die sich hauptsächlich an Kinder und Jugendliche richten. Jeder, der an dem Bunzlauer Keramikfest teilnimmt, sollte diesen magischen Ort voller Lachen und kreativer Leidenschaft besuchen. Ohne Zweifel ist es eine großartige Idee, die Zeit für ganze Familien zu verbringen, denn jeder, unabhängig von seinem Alter, wird hier etwas für sich finden. 44

Bolesławieckie Bractwo Ceramiczne zostało powołane 17 sierpnia 2009 roku przez Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury. Obecnie należą do niego 23 firmy z terenu powiatu bolesławieckiego, które zajmują się produkcją wyrobów ceramicznych. Organizacja sygnuje swoje produkty wspólnym znakiem towarowym „Ceramika Bolesławiecka” umieszczanym obok własnego logo. Symboliczne przekazanie kluczy do bram miasta przez Prezydenta Miasta Bolesławiec na ręce Starszego Mistrza Bractwa oznacza oficjalne rozpoczęcie Bolesławieckiego Święta Ceramiki. W tym roku Bolesławieckie Bractwo Ceramiczne obchodzi dziesiątą rocznicę powstania.
Bolesławiec Ceramics Brotherhood was established on 17 August 2009 by the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre. At present, 23 companies from the Bolesławiec district, which manufacture ceramic products, belong to it. The organization signs its products with a common trademark „Ceramika Bolesławiecka” placed next to its own logo. The symbolic handing over of the keys to the city gates by the Mayor of Bolesławiec to the Senior Master of the Brotherhood marks the official beginning of the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival. This year the Bolesławiec Ceramic Brotherhood celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Bruderschaft Bunzlauer Keramik wurde am 17. August 2009 vom Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury [dt. Kulturzentrum Bolesławiec] gegründet. Derzeit gehören dazu 23 Unternehmen aus dem Kreis Bolesławiec [dt. Bunzlau], die sich mit der Herstellung von keramischen Erzeugnissen befassen. Die Organisation kennzeichnet ihre Produkte mit dem gemeinsamen Markenzeichen „Ceramika Bolesławiecka” [dt. Bunzlauer Keramik], das neben dem eigenen Firmenlogo gesetzt wird. Die symbolische Übergabe der Schlüssel zu den Stadttoren durch den Präsidenten der Stadt Bolesławiec an die Hände des Obermeisters der Bruderschaft markiert den offiziellen Beginn des Bolesławieckie Święto Ceramiki [dt. Bunzlauer Keramikfest]. In diesem Jahr feiert die Bruderschaft Bunzlauer Keramik ihr zehnjähriges Bestehen. 48

Pierwsze nieformalne spotkanie ceramiczno – rzeźbiarskie w Bolesławcu odbyło się w 1963 r. Jego pomysłodawcą był artysta rzeźbiarz, Jerzy Boroń. Początkowo akcja plenerowa odbywała się w kilku miastach Dolnego Śląska (Chocianów, Ziębice, Strzegom i Oleśnica), stąd nazwa Plenery Dolnośląskie, lecz w roku 1975 prymat przejmuje Bolesławiec i odtąd Ogólnopolskie Plenery Ceramiczne odbywają się już tylko tutaj. Pojawiają się pierwsi twórcy z zagranicy (Jugosławia, Czechosłowacja, USA, Bułgaria). Wieloletnim komisarzem plenerów (1990 - 2004) była znana bolesławiecka artystka, Krystyna Gay - Kutschenreiter. Pod jej kierownictwem nabierają one rozmachu i od 1996 roku zyskują rangę międzynarodową. Odbywają się imprezy towarzyszące, m.in.: wystawy, happeningi, pokazy twórczości artystów, spotkania z wybitnymi twórcami, wypały w piecach plenerowych. Wraz ze zmianami politycznymi i otwarciem granic przybywa uczestników pleneru, a jego renoma systematycznie rośnie. Dziś Międzynarodowe Plenery Ceramiczno-Rzeźbiarskie skupiają artystów ceramików z całego świata, m.in: z Polski, Czech, Słowacji, Niemiec, krajów skandynawskich, Izraela, Stanów Zjednoczonych, Kanady, Indii, Japonii i Australii, chcących wziąć udział w działaniach artystyczno - happeningowych. Swoje prace wykonują w miejscowych zakładach ceramicznych, a zwieńczeniem i podsumowaniem artystycznych zmagań są wystawy poplenerowe organizowane w kraju i za granicą. W tym roku odbędzie się jubileuszowy 55. Międzynarodowy Plener Ceramiczno-Rzeźbiarski. 50

The first informal ceramic and sculptural meeting in Boleslawiec took place in 1963. The originator of the idea was the sculptor Jerzy Boroń. Initially, the outdoor action took place in several towns of Lower Silesia (Chocianów, Ziębice, Strzegom and Oleśnica), hence the name of the Lower Silesian Plein-airs, but in 1975 the primacy was taken over by Bolesławiec and since then the National Ceramic Plein-airs are held only here. The first foreign artists appear (Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, USA, Bulgaria). For many years, Krystyna Gay - Kutschenreiter, a well-known artist from Bolesławiec, was the long-standing member of the open-airs committee (1990-2004). Under her management they gain momentum and since 1996 they gain the rank of the international. Accompanying events are held, such as exhibitions, happenings, shows of artists’ works, meetings with outstanding artists, firing in outdoor furnaces. Along with political changes and the opening of borders the number of participants of the plein-air event in increasing and its reputation is steadily growing. Today, the International Ceramic and Sculpture Plein-Airs bring together ceramic artists from all over the world, among others from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Scandinavian countries, Israel, the United States, Canada, India, Japan and Australia, who want to take part in artistic and happening activities. They create their works in local ceramic factories, and the culmination and summary of their artistic struggles are open-air exhibitions organized in cultural centres, museums and exhibition institutions in the country and abroad. This year the 55th International Ceramic and Sculpture Plein-Air will be held.
Das erste informelle Keramik- und Bildhauertreffen in Bolesławiec fand 1963 statt. Sein Initiator war der Künstler und Bildhauer Jerzy Boroń. Ursprünglich fand die Freilicht-Aktion in mehreren Städten Niederschlesiens statt (Chocianów, Ziębice, Strzegom und Oleśnica), daher der Name Niederschlesisches Freilicht-Treffen, aber 1975 übernahm Bolesławiec das Primat und von nun an finden die gesamtpolnischen Keramik-Freilicht-Treffen nur hier statt. Die ersten Künstler aus dem Ausland treten auf (Jugoslawien, Tschechoslowakei, USA, Bulgarien). Die langjährige Kommissarin der Freilicht-Treffen (1990-2004) war die berühmte Bolesławiec-Künstlerin Krystyna Gay – Kutschenreiter. Unter ihrer Führung kommen die Freilicht-Treffen in Schwung und ab 1996 gewinnen sie einen internationalen Rang. Es kommen begleitende Veranstaltungen zum Ausdruck, darunter: Ausstellungen, Happenings und Shows vom Schaffen der Künstler, Treffen mit prominenten Künstlern, Brennprozesse in Freiluft-Öfen. Zusammen mit politischen Veränderungen und der Öffnung der Grenzen, wachsen die Anzahl der Teilnehmer und der Ruf der Freilicht-Treffen systematisch. Heutzutage versammeln die Freilicht-Treffen für Keramik und Bildhauerei Keramikkünstler aus ganzer Welt, u.a. aus: Polen, Tschechen, der Slowakei, Deutschland, den skandinavischen Ländern, Israel, den Vereinigten Staaten, Kanada, Indien, Japan und Australien, die an künstlerischen und Happening-Aktivitäten teilnehmen möchten. Ihre Arbeiten führen sie in lokalen Keramikfabriken aus und das Finale und die Zusammenfassung des künstlerischen Wettbewerbs sind die nach den Freilicht-Veranstaltungen organisierte Ausstellungen in Kulturzentren, Museen und Ausstellungsinstitutionen im In- und Ausland. In diesem Jahr feiern die Internationalen Freilicht-Treffen für Keramik und Bildhauerei ihr 55. Jubiläum.
