Dear Theatregoer A very big welcome to the brand-new autumn season here at St Helens Theatre Royal! Expect the very best in first class entertainment as our wide-ranging programme takes you through the autumn and winter months. We have an electrifying selection of live music acts including The Drifters and Showaddywaddy, as well as some of the finest tribute acts paying tribute to some of the world’s greatest artists including Queen, Elvis, ABBA, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Madonna and Whitney Houston to name but a few. Strictly favourites Ian Waite and Vincent Simone are back for more Ballroom fun as well as ex-Strictly alum Kristina Rihanoff who returns with her sensational Dance To The Music tour, and Vienna Festival Ballet present the magical Snow White – a trio of highlights for fans of sensational dance productions. We are delighted to welcome back Bill Kenwright’s brilliant production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webbers smash-hit musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Union J’s Jaymi Hensley.
There of course will be an abundance of family fun this season, with wait for it…FOUR fabulous panto productions from Regal Entertainments – the spellbinding Sleeping Beauty will awaken your October half-term; all your wishes will be granted in Aladdin this Christmas, starring Strictly Come Dancing’s Robin Windsor as Aladdin; head back over the rainbow in February with The Wizard of Oz; and the circus comes to town in Goldilocks and the Three Bears at Easter. A stunning period drama set in the 1930s. After Helen’s father went bankrupt, the Forrester’s chose Liverpool as the place to re-build their shattered lives. They were in for a terrible shock. Taken out of school to look after her younger siblings, Helen is sick of being treated as an unpaid slave and so begins a bitter fight with her parents for the right to go to work and make her own way in life. By 1939, Helen, now aged 20, has still never been kissed by a man. However, things start looking up for her when she meets a tall strong seaman and falls in love.
