Dear Matters Magazine Readers - A letter from the CEO
Dear Matters Magazine Readers,
There is something special about picking up a magazine and getting immersed in its stories. The tactile feeling of the luxurious paper between your fingertips and that novel smell of printed paper. The absolute satisfaction of flicking through articles for the following headline to capture your attention. The experience of reading a magazine feels elegant and sophisticated and is a call back to simpler times when algorithms did not generate or optimise articles, they were curated and crafted by professionals.
The content is elevated and prestigious. Honour is evoked when you are featured in a magazine. When you share the page with the legends before you, you share your story and advice among true business and entrepreneurship leaders.
No other medium provides that exclusivity of recognition. It still means something to be on a cover and featured in a magazine.
My role is simple. Invite business leaders to contribute to the magazine and share their prestigious content with the Sunshine Coast community. We have an incredible team to partner with our contributors and advertisers to craft exceptional, must-read content. Distribution and promotion of that content are essential. In 2024, we will publish three issues of Matters Magazine. We will hand-deliver 12,000 copies to over 5,000 locations across the Sunshine Coast, from Beerwah to Pomona. We have launched a new mobile app, redefined our social and email strategies, and partnered with the leading media, chambers of commerce, industry and business groups on the coast.
I have led businesses and high-performing teams throughout my career— almost 20 years in marketing. Over that time, there has been enormous change. But the fundamentals have not changed. To build trust with an audience, you must lead with value—authentic, genuine, and helpful content. The right content shared with the right audience at the right time remains the pillar of content marketing, regardless of the media or platform chosen.
To contribute or advertise in a magazine is to commit yourself to creating premium content worthy of the page. An article you are proud to frame and place on your wall. To share it among colleagues and customers as they enter your space. It is a privilege. Anyone can post on social media, but very few can publish in a magazine.
As we celebrate the magazine’s rich 17-year history, we embrace the new beginning of Matters Magazine. Settle in, grab a warm beverage and take this time to be inspired by the stories that matter from the business leaders of the Sunshine Coast.
Thank you for choosing to read Matters Magazine.
