LS6 believes strongly in the ideologies of community, quality and honesty and is committed to serving fresh, healthy and homemade food, all sourced from ethical and sustainable farms.

As the students of Leeds become more liberal and focused on the importance of sustainability, so too does LS6. The cafÊ provides a place where people can still indulge in and enjoy food and drink in a way that is in keeping with their own ideologies and beliefs. LS6 also serves as a platform for creative outlets in the community. With artists visiting and working at the cafÊ it has always been a great environment to talk about creative current affairs. LS6 has transformed it’s upstairs room into a multi-discipline event space, now being used for a variety of events that showcases both up-andcoming and established artists in the local area.

History

Originally a retro clothes shop called The Sugar Shack, it changed owners 19 years ago and was transformed into The Clock Café. Having been kitted out with furniture from the retro furniture shop two doors down, The Clock Café quickly built up a reputation as the quirky and relaxed place to visit for food. As Hyde Park started to become more student- centric, it brought with it new customers and new people and soon the café expanded further, benefiting from the creative talents that the nearby universities attracted. Leeds locals The Kaiser Chiefs were known to frequent, Corrine Bailey-Rae worked as a front of house member during the early noughties and Julian Barratt used to visit and used the café as a place to write. Rumour has it some of the Mighty Boosh was created within these very walls. Today the café still stands as one of the most popular outlets for the Leeds community. Committed to providing the highest quality food in an open and inviting environment. LS6 is still building on its successful past to further cement itself in the history of Hyde Park as the number one café in the area.

The new bar was built using sustainable and reclaimed material in an attempt to further sustainable approach to business. We use recycled paper for our napkins and paper towels and where possible, we recycle our waste. Our coffee comes from responsibly minded importers to ensure that the people and land growing the coffee are respected. The meat, eggs and bread that LS6 uses are all from Yorkshire businesses. All of the ingredients that involve livestock are ethically and locally sourced from Sykes House Farm which operates to the RSPCA’s freedom Food standard. Sykes also supply the chicken which is entirely free-range and reared on the Yorkshire Wolds. The eggs are free- range and locally sourced from Ian Taylor’s farm in Burton Leonard. The bread is delivered daily from Bondgate Bakery in Otley.
