This season we took a look into the stories that the designers of today have dicated as the trends for the season. What you can expect to find on the racks this Winter 2013 is more of recent seasons ladylike silhouettes with a sense of ease from a pleated skirt, with a sweatshirt tossed over it, to slim ankle pants and sleek, linear gowns. There is little fear of opulence, as long as it is elegant and not cheesy. Camouflage made fresh with non battle-fatigue colors continues to work its way up from the streets for women. Drop waist 20s-style dresses mixed with ‘20s Mondrian-esque painterly patterns paired with a ‘70s neckline will bring vintage elements in a youthful, yet sexy silohuette. Funnel neck overcoats, knee-high boots and capped-sleeve shift dresses are the very silhouettes of simplicity. The ‘60s mod phase that has been building for a while will add feminine and functional components that will demonstrate that understated girly finishes can in fact blend well with the return of boyish pop-culture fashion. Knee-high go-go boots, silver ankle boots, white pump shoes and the remake of ‘80s jewel-tone Chanel handbags with a chain-link strap are a few bare-bones fashion statements that don’t so much as reminisce about days gone by, but set the pace for a fantastic future in fashion. Overall, we are returning to the fun side of fashion this fall with bold colors and open, less restrictive silhouettes. It’s time to have fun building a wardrobe once again with as many bangles and beads that a woman could possibly desire. Style is personality, your personality.
