Hello everyone! School’s finally started! I hope you’re all as excited for a new year of service as I am. I’m confident that your clubs can come back stronger than last year and ready to raise money for Eliminate and other charities. Club growth is also very important, so I hope you have been focusing on attracting new members. I’m very much looking forward to what you all are capable of, and I couldn’t have asked for a better year to start with my division. Finally, it goes without saying that you can talk to me if you need help with anything. -Matthew Gendreau mrgendreau@gmail.com

Lt. Governor’s Message

Thanks to those who came to the Division Council Meeting on the 14th! While we may have had a much smaller group than the May DCM, I’m very glad I was able to meet and share information with some of you. Look forward to another one the first weekend of November! Expect a full report of Sunday’s DCM soon.

Do not forget to send monthly reports! These are one of the most important things your club can do for me. Even if your club hasn’t done much yet, it’s better to leave it blank than to not send it at all! Make sure to send in your club’s contact information! If you are a president, I’ll also be needing your phone number so I can arrange a phone call later this month.

Please send me the contact information for all of your club’s members! This was due a long time ago, and many clubs are still very late. This is all extremely important, as I need this information to be able to include your club in division/district operations and update you on the state of the division. Forms can be found on the division website.

Have any good ideas for a service project, but lack the money? Have you or your club apply for the Youth Opportunities Fund, where you can be granted from $100$2000 for your project. Keep in mind your club will have to foot the bill and be reimbursed later, although the International Board is planning to discuss an option to be paid up front. Apply HERE, or watch Trustees Gary Cheng and Shane Meyers’ webinar on the topic HERE.

Governor Anastasia’s project for this year of service is called KOTIO, which stands for Key Club Outreach To Include Others. Her goal is to extend help to disabled individuals by participating in service projects for different organizations such as Aktion Club, KEEN, Best Buddies, Easter Seals, and Miracle League. Your club can participate by partaking in any sort of event that benefits individuals living with disabilities.

At the recent DCM, we had a wonderful speaker give a presentation on a charity organization called Patriot PAWS. I would like to hold a breakfast early next year as a division project to benefit this charity, and I also want to challenge you all to hold at least fundraiser for this organization as well. Please learn more at patriotpaws.org. Also be sure to contact me if you want any informational materials.

We have decided on a Division Mascot for D13! Our mascot will be a “Mockingcrab” (they described it as a Mockingjay from the Hunger Games combined with the Capital Crab). Look forward to division tshirts featuring this mascot soon!

With Halloween approaching very quickly, consider doing a related service project to help support UNICEF and the Eliminate Project. You and your club can collect money door-to-door, hold a themed dance or party, or other similar events. You can find more information here: http://goo.gl/ Us7cV8
