University of Kansas Master of Architecture School of Architecture, Design & Planning - I gained my masters degree from the University of Kansas. It was an intensive program that condensed six years of work into five. The school enabled me to study in other countries and experience the cultures of the world. Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture Paris-Val de Seine - I studied for my final year of school in Paris. The first semester I participated in a regular studio at the school. The second semester I gained credit working as an intern for a Parisian firm.
HNTB Corporation Sports Architecture Kansas City, Missouri - I interned at HNTB for a summer between my last two years of school, then got a full time job with HNTB after graduation. Since, I have worked on a range of projects all involving sports facilities. I have worked on various marketing pursuits, two collegiate football stadiums, training facilities and two MLS stadiums. Jean-Paul Viguier Et Associés Architecture et Urbanisme Paris, France -I interned at Viguier’s office for three months during my final year of study. I was able to participate in two projects. The first project was a competition in Monaco. I was expected to produce presentation documents. I participated in the design of the facade and organization of spaces programmatically. The second project was a feasibility study for an office building in Paris. I produced various drawings (plans, elevations, etc.).

CREW STADIUM
Columbus, OH Role - Project Designer
The new home of the Columbus Crew Stadium will house 20,000 fans and is located in the Arena district of downtown. I worked on this project from its inception as a study for the Haslam Sports Group. They wanted a stadium that was different from any other and fit only the brand of the Columbus Crew. The dark, sharp language of the facade contrasts with the typical light and airy canopies of most soccer facilities.

SITE LOCATION PLAN CREW STADIUM The stadium will be the centerpiece COLUMBUS of the new Confluence Village development, which is located at the end of Nationwide Blvd. March 2020
Creating a connection to the community and the activity along Nationwide Blvd. was a huge goal for the owner. Our idea was to create a “stadium park” where the concourse bleeds out into the plazas and connects with the park outside. The concourse is also open at several locations allowing for view corridors in and out of the stadium. My primary role on the project was the Project Designer, where I participated in early design studies as well as the development of the final design. I helped produce design presentations by creating diagrams, exploring materials and figuring out details. In addition to my design responsibilities, during DD and CDs, I was in charge of detailing the exterior facade of the suite/press tower.

SACRAMENTO MLS STADIUM Sacramento, CA Role - Staff Architect
As soccer in Sacramento grows, their current USL team will join the MLS in 2023. As such, an upgrade to their current facilities was needed. This 20,000 seat stadium is located just North of downtown in what is known as the new Railyards District: one of the largest urban developments in the country. The iconic design was derived from the star on the state flag and the team logo. The star was abstracted and became the red PTFE shards that encase the whole stadium.
SITE LOCATION PLAN The Railyards District will be a lively addition to the city of Sacramento and the park that surrounds the stadium will be open on non-game days for locals. This stadium was designed with the intent to create a social stadium with several fan experiences. The bowl is split by tunnels at each corner creating four stands. Each stand provides a different experience: one side dedicated to premium, one for supporters, one for families and the other for general fans. My role on this project was as a staff architect and I had the opportunity to work through both the design and documentation processes before the project was put on hold at a 95% CD deadline. My scope of work contained the Main Concourse Club and the Supporter’s concourse documentation. Those spaces are highlighted in the following pages.

KU INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY Lawrence, KS Role - Staff Architect
Located just West of Memorial Stadium, this new training facility provides KU Football a space that it has never had before. The indoor building is specific for football and has a full 100 yard field, field-goal kicking space and sports medicine space.
SITE LOCATION PLAN After working with KU on the masterplan, their top priority was to get an indoor facility that was in close proximity to the training facility and stadium. The building finally ended up across the street to the West of the stadium. We were able to design a “halo of polycarbonate that traces around the entire building. This provides diffused light for practice despite the building being 30 feet underground along the West. The ancillary building that was attached at the South serves as a formal entry for recruits and families. My work on this project began at the end of the masterplan study and I was involved all the way through construction. I helped work through the massing and materiality decisions early in the design process. The ancillary building exterior facade was my scope to document during the construction document phase. Then during CA, I was out on site weekly working with the client and construction manager to solve design and construction issues.

SUN DEVIL STADIUM Tempe, AZ Role - Staff Architect
Located between two buttes, the renovated Sun Devil Stadium was designed to embrace its surroundings by opening up all corners of the stadium. The entire lower bowl was replaced, new premium amenities were built along both sidelines and the North end-zone now houses the new student athletic facility.

REPLACEMENT OF LOWER BOWL
SITE PLAN The renovations to this stadium were extensive and surgical in nature. Our scope included removing a large amount of upper bowl and adding a club level under an existing suite tower. The project was completed in three phases, with a majority of the work being done during phase two. During this phase, three new clubs were designed on one level along the West sideline. The added student athletic facility at the North is a 3-level training facility that houses the locker room, weight room, coachs’ offices and other player spaces. I worked early in the design phases, helping to layout the SAF programmatically. Training facilities can be a puzzle and I learned a lot about the process that athletes go through on a daily basis, recruiting paths and coaching office organizations. I helped to document the West tower, the scoreboard and closing room terrace at the North end-zone. I was taken off the project for the majority of CA, but did help punch the project upon its completion.
