1994 erkundeten wir die Trails des Gardasees – unser Bike Mekka. Den Führerschein frisch in der Tasche, den Bully voll mit Campingkram, Bikes und Freunden. Wir schliefen nachts am Kiesstrand, tagsüber kurbelten wir Höhenmeter um Höhenmeter, auf der Suche nach dem perfekten Flow. 601 und Sentiero della Pace hießen die Trails, an denen wir uns die Zähne unserer Kettenblätter ausschlugen und die Schienbeine blutig stießen. Was uns fehlte war Flow – bis wir in einer Pizzeria den entscheidenden Tipp bekamen.
In 1994, we wanted to explore Lake Garda - our Bike Mecca. I had only just passed my drivers license and set off with my camper van, my bikes and my mates. At night we slept on pebble beaches, during the day we cycled up summits, looking for the perfect flow. 601 and Sentiero della Pace were the names of trails where we had to really put our bikes and our stamina to the test. Yet what we were missing was flow. At a local pizza place we received the crucial tip.
Am nächsten Tag nehmen wir 1600 Höhenmeter Anstieg in Kauf und konnten unser Glück kaum fassen. Am Ende einer Almwiese taucht ein Trail auf. Die Nummer: 222. Nadeln auf weichem Waldboden wechseln sich mit technischen Passagen in perfektem Rhythmus ab. Jubel begleitet das Meistern ausgesetzter Stellen, während wir uns von der Schwerkraft ins Tal treiben lassen. Der Trail hat uns beeindruck. Selten haben wir die perfekte Symbiose aus der Schönheit der Natur und der technischen Herausforderung des Trails so intensiv erlebt wie hier.
The next day we biked up to an altitude of 1600 meters and could hardly believe our luck. At the end of an alpine meadow, a trail emerged. The number: 222. The soft forest floor alternate with difficult technical passages. Cheers accompany the ride while we drift into the valley. The trail had impressed us. What a perfect combination out of natures beauty and technical challenges. Never had we experienced a trail as intense as here.
Those days we spent our time in cut off army trousers and baggy T-shirts – our style was important to us. Neon polyester outfits were no alternative. With our “street” clothes we felt most comfortable on the bike. Yet these were not functional. This we wanted to change. We combine in our products timeless design with clever functions, sustainable materials and a fair production.
Den ganzen Tag haben wir damals in unseren abgeschnittenen Bundeswehrhosen und ausgeleierten T-Shirts verbracht – Hauptsache der Style stimmte. Neon-Polyester-Outfits kamen für uns nicht in Frage. Mit unseren Lieblings–Klamotten haben wir uns auf dem Bike am wohlsten gefühlt. Funktionell waren diese nicht. Das wollten wir ändern.

Es geht über den Col de la Schlucht in Richtung Freiburg. Die zahllosen Wellen durch die Vogesen haben schon häufig die Profis der Tour de France gepiesackt – heute sind wir dran. At the first set of daylight, we strap on our bike shoes and grab our helmets. We have a beautiful but tough stage ahead of us. Across the Col de Schlucht towards Freiburg. The countless wavy roads through the Vosges have often plagued the Tour de France pro’s - today it is our turn.

Heute ist Rennradtag. Von Gerardmer zirkeln wir die ersten 15 km hinauf zum Col de la Schlucht. Eisige GutenMorgen-Kälte spannt unsere Wangen und zerrt an unseren Windjacken. We are Ani and Paul from Dresden. Our agenda for this weekend is Freiburg and the exciting Vosges. Today is our racing day. From Gerardmer we cycle the first 15 km up to the Col de la Schlucht. The cold frosty morning lets our cheeks freeze and strains our wind jackets.

rolling down Aber der Anstieg heizt uns ordentlich ein, und der Blick entschädigt für die zähen Höhenmeter. Nach jeder Kehre entdecken wir neue Aussichten. Mal liegt glitzernd der Lac de Longemer vor uns, mal können wir die weißen Gipfel der Alpen erspähen. Die Sonne bricht durch die Wolken und wir verstauen die Windjacken im Trikot. Es geht bergab. Cycling up the hill gets us warmed up and the tremendous view compensates for the tough ascent. After each turn we discover new scenery. On one turn the glistening of Lac de Longemer lies before us, another turn reveals the white snow peaks of the Alps. The sun breaks through the clouds and we stow the wind jackets away into our jerseys. Our next turn will take us downhill.

back again soo n Kurve um Kurve schießen wir aus den Vogesen hinab ins Rheintal. Schade, dass wir keinen Stopp in Munster eingeplant haben. Das kleine, uralte Dorf im Elsass ist berühmt für seinen Käse. Also weiter. Weinberge rauschen an uns vorbei, während wir uns das Abendessen bei Freunden verdienen. Morgen kehren wir zurück in die Weite der Vogesen – in Trail-Running-Schuhen. From stage to stage, we cycle our way from the Vosges down into the Rhine valley. Too bad we did not plan a stop in Munster. The small, ancient village in Alsace is famous for its cheese. Let’s ride on. Vineyards rush past us as we ride on to a welldeserved dinner with our friends. Tomorrow we will return to the beautiful Vosges – in trail running shoes.

lets go with the flow Hügel an Hügel, See an See und Trail an Trail. Das Gebiet um Hohneck in den Vogesen, an der Grenze zum Haut-Rhin Gebiet, bietet Bike-Vergnügen par excellence. Klar, dass wir uns das nicht entgehen lassen. Kaum sitzen wir auf dem Bike, tauchen wir in einen märchenhaften Trail ein. Vorbei an urigen Steinhütten und über geschorenes Grün, geht es mit Flow, Sprung, Kehre in den ersten Waldabschnitt. Es wird nicht der Letzte gewesen sein. What excitement awaits us. The area around Hohneck in the Vosges, bordering the Haut-Rhin area, offers bike pleasure par excellence. We don’t want to miss out on this. As soon as we are on the bike, we dive into fairy tale trails. Past ancient stone huts and overgrown greenery, the trail continues with flow, a jump, into a great forest passage. It won’t be the last.

Up and away Mit 1363 Metern ist der Hohneck der dritthöchste Berg in den Vogesen. Ein Haufen Dreck und schroffen Fels, wie fallen gelassen in der Nähe des Rheins und ein Paradies für Mountainbiker und Fernsicht-Süchtige. Nur die Beschilderung ist, typisch französisch, etwas undurchsichtig. Also Karte raus und den richtigen Stich suchen. Sonst heißt es kurbeln! Aber einmal oben, kann man immer ein Sonnen- und Trailschnäppchen machen. With 1363 meters, Hohneck is the third-highest mountain in the Vosges. It seems like a bump that has been dropped near the Rhine and yet a paradise for mountain bikers and long-distance viewers. Only the French signage is typically unclear. Time to get out our maps to find the right path. Once you have made it to the top you can be lucky and be rewarded with sun and great trails.

Und dann kommt er doch noch – der Regen. Bindfäden. Heute Morgen hatten wir eine Eishaut auf unserem Zelt, die der Regen nun verwischt. Trotzdem quälen wir uns aus unseren Schlafsäcken. Kaum stecken unsere Füße in klammen Wanderschuhen, wabert Nebel um unsere Knöchel. Und es ist mal wieder kalt – sehr kalt. Eigentlich wollten wir heute den Felsenweg am Col de la Schlucht gehen. Ob uns das gelingt? Just when you think it is gone. The rain, It’s back – its chucking it down. Cold fog surrounds our ankles. It’s cold - very cold. This morning we had frost on our tent, which the rain is now sweeping away. Today we want to walk the path at the Col de la Gorge. So, we creep out of our sleeping bags.

We are at the beginning of the trail. Let’s see how far we’ll come. The rope-line path is not the most secure when fog and dampness are on their way. Our path leads us through a mossy, ancient forests. Warmth can only be felt underneath our jackets. The sun is hiding behind clouds and the rain just won’t stop. Point of no return – we want to climb to the summit, hoping for sun.

Die Sicht ist immer noch null. Regen hatten wir in den letzten Stunden in allen möglichen Formen: Waagerecht von der Seite, dick und fett von oben und kriechend, feucht in den Schuhen. Bei einer heißen Tasse Kaffee besprechen wir, wie es weitergehen soll. Danke Eric, dass du immer deinen Kocher dabei hast! Nach kurzer Beratung beschließen wir den Abbruch und versuchen stattdessen ein wenig Sonne auf dem Kybfelsen in Freiburg zu erhaschen. Zurück marsch, marsch! We cannot see much but fog and rain. In the past hours, we have had rain in all sorts of forms: from side to side, thick and fat, from above – our shoes are damp. After a hot cup of coffee, we discuss how to move on. Thanks Eric that you always carry your stove with you! After a short consultation, we decide to stop and try to catch a little sun on the Kybfelsen in Freiburg. Off we go!

BÄM! Fünfhundert Höhenmeter auf fünf Kilometer in einer Stunde. Zugegeben, nach einem verregneten Start in den Tag, hätten wir auch nicht gedacht, noch so schnell auf den Gipfel des Kybfelsen zu kommen. Aber wir wollen endlich Sonne! Und es sieht gut aus. Ein Abendessen mit Aussicht auf Schauinsland, Breisgauer Bucht und Feldberg – we love it!

BÄM! In five kilometres we made the five hundred meters above ground level in one hour. After such a foggy and rainy start to the day, we couldn’t imagine hiking up the Kybfelsen in this speed. But we wanted sun! And that’s what we got. A beautiful sunset dinner with a view of Schauinsland, Breisgau Bay and Feldberg – Yeahh!

Wir schwingen uns auf die Bikes und nutzen eine der zahlreichen Fahrradstraßen. Kein Auto, keine Tram, kein Bus. Dafür Bikes, Kinderanhänger und Fahrrad-Rikschas. Sogar manche Brücke wird in Freiburg als reine Fahrradstraße genutzt – so wie die blaue Brücke am Hauptbahnhof. Use one of the numerous cycling paths. No car, no tram, no bus. Therefore, you have plenty of bikes, children’s trailers and bicycle rickshaws. Even bridges are used in Freiburg as pure cycling roads – the blue bridge at the main station is a great example.
Schöne Plätze mit Aussicht gibt es in Freiburg viele. Besonders gut gefällt uns die Wiwili Brücke am frühen Morgen. Places with a beautiful view in Freiburg are numerous. We especially like the Wiwili Bridge in the early morning.

Wenn die Sonne in die Gassen brennt, ist es in mancher Stadt nicht zum Aushalten. In Freiburg locken allerdings reichlich Gelegenheiten zur Abkühlung. Kaum um die Ecke gebogen, taucht entweder ein Brunnen oder eines der Bächle auf, die die ganze Stadt durchziehen. Früher wurden die Bächle, die Wasser aus der Dreisam durch die Stadt leiten, zur Trinkwasserversorgung und zur Entwässerung genutzt. Heute freut man sich auch als Radfahrer über die Erfrischung. When the sun is burning down onto the streets, you very often cannot stand it in a city. In Freiburg, however, there are plenty of opportunities to cool off. Every corner awaits either a fountain or one of the famous water streams, which pass through the whole town. In the past, the streams, which gain their water from the river Dreisam, were used as drinking water supply or drainage. Today you are more than thankful for the refreshment.

we love wool Nachhaltigkeit und Fairness sind für uns kein Trend, sondern ein Muss. Wir wollen es anders machen als die Anderen. Uns reicht es nicht, nur nachhaltige Materialien zu verwenden. Wir leben und lieben die Herausforderung. Deshalb setzen wir auf nachwachsende Rohstoffe und recycelte Materialien aus Europa.
Wir lieben Wolle! Nicht nur, weil es ein natürliches Material ist, sondern weil es so viele Vorteile in sich vereint, die auch im Sportbereich sinnvoll sind. Wolle ist bei feinen Garnstärken sehr komfortabel auf der Haut, reguliert die Temperatur ideal und hemmt Gerüche – und das alles ganz natürlich. Wird die Wolle zum Loden gewalkt, wird sie wasserdicht und bleibt gleichzeitig extrem atmungsaktiv. Unsere Woll-Isolierung ist zudem mit 60 Gramm extrem leicht und wärmt auch in nassem Zustand - egal ob im Schlafsack oder in unserer DUUN-Jacke. Aus diesem Grund verarbeiten wir, wo immer es geht, Wolle in unseren Produkten. Dabei verwenden wir sowohl Merino-Wolle aus Neuseeland und Australien, als auch Schurwolle aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. Wir garantieren dabei eine Behandlung der Tiere, die ohne Mulesing auskommt. Und eine natürliche Aufzucht und Haltung der Schafe, vorwiegend in höheren Bergregionen. Wenn dagegen Wasserdichtigkeit, Winddichtigkeit, hohe Elastizität, geringes Gewicht, oder Daunendichtigkeit gefordert sind, braucht es synthetische Materialien. Auch hier gehen wir so umweltfreundlich wie möglich vor. Etwa 80% unserer Materialien kommen aus Europa. Die meisten werden aus recycelten Materialien umweltfreundlich hergestellt. Wir verwenden in vielen Produkten das Nylon-Garn ECONYL®, welches aus alten Fischernetzen und Textilabfällen in Europa recycelt und zu einem neuen Stoff gestrickt wird. Können wir nicht auf recycelte Materialien zurückgreifen, verwenden wir Materialien, die nach Bluesign®-Standards hergestellt werden. Wichtig für uns ist dabei immer: so kurze Wege und so umweltfreundlich wie möglich.
Sustainability and fairness are not a trend for us, but a must. We want to do things differently. It is not enough to only make use of sustainable materials. We live and love the challenge. That is why we rely on European renewableand recycled materials.
We love wool! Not only because it is a natural material, but because it combines so many advantages, which are useful for sportive activities. Fine wool is very comfortable for the skin to wear, it regulates the body temperature perfectly and inhibits odours from arising - and all of this naturally. When wool is processed to a Loden, it becomes waterproof and at the same time remains highly breathable. Furthermore, our wool insulation is extremely light, weighing 60 grams and keeps you warm even when wet – no matter if it’s your sleeping bag or our DUUN jacket. Out of these reasons we make use of wool in many of our products. We use Merino wool from New Zealand and Australia as well as virgin wool from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We guarantee Mulesing free animal treatment and a natural breeding and farming of the sheep, mainly in higher mountain regions. However, if you are looking for materials which are waterproof, windproof, highly elastic or light-weight then synthetic materials are required. Here, too, we are as environmentally friendly as possible. About 80% of our materials come from Europe. Most are made from recycled materials in an environmentally friendly manner. In many products, we use the ECONYL® nylon yarn, which is recycled from old fishing nets and textile waste in Europe and knitted into a new fabric. If we cannot rely on recycled materials, we use materials that are manufactured according to Bluesign® standards. Important for us is always: short paths and as environmentally friendly as possible.

Wir setzen uns für faire Bezahlung und faire Arbeitsbedingungen ein – egal an welcher Stelle. Weil uns kurze Wege und faire Arbeitsbedingungen wichtig sind, produzieren wir ausschließlich in Kroatien.
Triple2 is unique – for us it is not enough to solely use sustainable materials. For this reason, we rely as much as possible on renewable and recycled materials from Europe. Sustainability and fairness is not a trend, but a must. We commit ourselves to fair wages and working conditions. Because short distances and fair working conditions are important to us, we produce exclusively in Croatia.
Bekleidung ist Handarbeit – zu 100 %. Jedes Teil, das wir am Körper tragen, ging durch zahlreiche Hände, bis es fertig verpackt unsere Shops erreicht. Dabei ist es unerheblich, ob ein einfaches T-Shirt genäht wird, für das etwa 20 Arbeitsschritte benötigt werden, oder eine Regenjacke, bei der es schon 120 Arbeitsschritte sind. Die Qualität hängt immer von der Erfahrung, dem Know-How und der Motivation der Mitarbeiter ab. Wir arbeiten schon seit Jahren mit einer kleinen Produktion im Norden Kroatiens zusammen – etwa fünf Autostunden von München entfernt. Unser Team ist mit modernstem Equipment ausgerüstet und scheut keine noch so schwere Aufgabe – egal ob es um kniffelige Verarbeitungen geht oder das Upcycling-Programm für unsere Taschen-Kollektion.
Making clothes is a real handicraft – to 100 %. Every part we wear on our body has passed through numerous hands until it reaches our stores finally packed. Having to go through 20 working steps for a T-shirt, or 120 working steps to sew a raincoat is not the challenge. The challenge is to reach high quality. This depends on the experience, the know-how and the motivation of the employees. We have been working for many years with a small production in the north of Croatia – about five hours away from Munich. Our team is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and no task can be challenging enough for them.
