The now-approved resort subdivision sits on a 220-acre site on the south side of east Rio Verde Drive between 128th and 136th streets in north Scottsdale.
AZHelpingHands.org
Scottsdale City Council in February 2012 approved, by a vote of 6 to 1, the rezoning of 220 acres of land from a rural distinction to one allowing higher density and resort operations. That action is what is allowing the western-themed, 320-unit Reata Ranch resort community to come to fruition.
WHAT THEY DO:
Source: Scottsdale Independent
PROGRAMS:
They assist foster families who have stepped up to provide a safe, loving environment for children in the Department of Child Safety system. Programs are designed to provide many basic needs for these boys and girls.
HELPING HANDS FOR FOSTER KIDS Their largest program provides twin beds, cribs, clothing, diapers, high chairs, books and other items to help boys and girls in foster care. Boys and girls in foster care are frequently placed in care with NOTHING but the clothes on their backs. Foster families, especially kinship placements are often not adequately prepared to fill the needs of the kids who arrive at their doorstep. So many kids sleep on the floor of DCS offices, or on Grandma’s sofa until they learn of our services.
K. HOVNANIAN AT SILVERSTONE AT PINNACLE PEAK Silverstone is the former site of the Rawhide western theme park, which was sold for development several years ago. The community now is comprised of a mixed-use of office, residential and retail. Recently approved Parcel F is located at the southwest corner of Pinnacle Peak Road and 74th Street and sits adjacent to the reconstructed Rawhide Wash corridor. Homebuilder K. Hovnanian has gained approval to build 98 townhomes and 76 duplex units on this parcel.

Using Home Automation to Beat the Heat
With the amount of time we spend indoors during the warm months in Arizona, it is important to have the most up-todate equipment and features in our homes to ensure that adults, kids and furry friends are beating the heat in their Smart Home! By: Buzz Jensen
One of the most important indoor features in Arizona is the air conditioner. Nothing is worse than coming out of 112-degree heat into a house that’s 85 plus. Smart thermostats are becoming increasingly more popular due to their energy efficiency and cost effectiveness. Instead of just kicking on and off at specified times, smart thermostats monitor the temperature of your home, ensuring it is the perfect temperature at all times. By adding greater control of your HVAC system, you can substantially curb your home’s energy usage. Paradise Home Entertainment recommends HVAC automation products from Control4, and Elan Home Systems. Another great way to stay cool in your home is by making sure all the windows are covered. Sure, natural lighting is great, but windows without shades are a great heat conductor and you might be surprised at just how much hotter a room without curtains or blinds can be. Automatic and motorized shades are the newest in window dressing technology and are extremely convenient. You can have the shades automatically open or close when needed or with just the touch of a button. You can lower the temperature and protect your furnishings. And, there are also security benefits! Not only do windows emit a lot of heat, but so do lights. Obviously you can’t sit in the dark, but reducing the strength of your lighting could be the key to keeping your home cool. Want complete wireless supremacy over the lights in your home? Program the automated lighting systems so the lights are brightest at night, instead of right in the middle of the day. Using light dimmers throughout each room will also help to control the amount of heat emitted. There’s no question that keeping cool in this blistering heat is sometimes difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. We’ve still got plenty of heat to battle so make sure your home is as “smart” as it can be. Visit Paradise Home Entertainment at www.Paradise-HE.com to learn more about how you can beat the heat in your Smart Home.
