Isabella’s Kitchen Not only is the golf-course setting absolutely sublime, but this Italian eatery in Grayhawk has a killer patio for drinks or dining. Make sure to arrive in time to catch a famous Scottsdale sunset while settling in on their large al fresco terrace. You’ll find generously sized tables with a fire pit in the middle, smaller vignettes for more intimate seating, comfy couches, and a roomy grassy area for the little ones to run around while you enjoy the adult camaraderie.
Preston’s Steakhouse Head upstairs to their expansive outdoor patio where you’ll delight in panoramic Pinnacle Peak views and vast, starry night skies. You’ll find plush seating, space heaters, a fireplace, and a fire pit to make your cocktail hour all the happier. Plus, their full dinner menu is available upstairs as well. Why not make a meal of it?
IT’S A BIT CHILLY OUT THERE. That’s fine with us, as we love cozying up to a crackling fire with friends and family this time of the year. Unlike back East or the Midwest, our Scottsdale winters are chilly enough to make us reach for a furry throw blanket but still nice enough that we can lounge in comfort outdoor by a fire pit. With that in mind, we came up with a few of our favorite patio/fire pit dining options in North Scottsdale. Perhaps we’ll see you there!
The Plaza Bar at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Just steps from the hotel lobby, the outdoor Plaza Bar offers comfortable sofa-style seating with multiple fire pits strategically situated throughout. If you’re a fan of “mixology,” you’ll enjoy their inventive, hand-crafted signature cocktails, and if you’re so inclined, a selection of fine cigars. This is where you come when you need a little “vacation” in your evening.
The Vig McDowell Mountain Sometimes you want a little fun & games to go with your evening, right? We love the huge patio here accented with retro strung lights, lowslung Adirondack chairs, fire pits, and plenty of large-group or small-group seating. With views of the McDowell Mountains looming up-close, you can take in a friendly game of cornhole or bocce ball while you sip and dine.

NORTH SCOTTSDALE REAL ESTATE:
What to Expect in 2020 Two words come to mind when we analyze today’s North Scottsdale real estate market: healthy and energetic. Home sales in 2019 started with a slow 1st quarter followed by an average 2nd quarter, with sales really heating up in the 3rd and 4th quarters. We saw a very active market for homes priced $2 million and under – with those priced between $1 million and $2 million selling briskly and homes priced under $1 million moving downright vigorously. Now that we find ourselves in 2020 (happy New Year!), we are expecting to see the same uptick in momentum for at least the first half of the year. We predict that homes will be on the market for less time and motivated buyers will seek out the more in-demand listings such as homes that are new builds or newly renovated. However, today’s buyer is still very price-sensitive, so we’ve observed overpriced listings languishing on the market while their appropriately priced counterparts sell quickly. Last year, we found that nearly 50% of the buyers in our area are relocating from California. We are expecting a strong ratio like that to continue, if not increase, in 2020. We are keeping close tabs on how the upcoming presidential election may impact the housing market. We found that many prospective buyers and sellers “hit the pause button” near the end of the year during 2016’s election cycle, waiting to see what the political climate may mean for the economy, the markets, and their wealth portfolio which caused an overall slowdown in activity.

WHAT THEY DO: Around the world, hunger causes nearly half the deaths in children under five years old. With a goal to help as many children as they can from dying of starvation, Feed My Starving Children packs nonperishable meals and works with food distribution partners all over the world to supply meals in schools, orphanages, clinics, and feeding programs every day. Financial donations allow the organization to purchase the meals that are developed by nutrition professionals to help children grow and thrive. It’s the New Year and many of us have thoughts of fresh, clean, new beginnings on our minds. While you’re working on your health, fitness, career or relationship resolutions, how about making some simple changes that can provide a healthier environment in your home? Here, we present some stress-free solutions you can implement right away.
YOUR HOME
Shoes Be Banned If you’ve ever been one to roll your eyes at your friends that don’t allow shoes in the house, maybe they’re not so wacky after all! The germs, grime, dirt, chemicals, pesticides, and overall “yuck” you’ve got on the bottom of your shoes are the last things you want circulating all over your home. If you don’t want to leave them outdoors, at least provide a bin to place them in when you walk in the door.
Our advice for 2020? If you’re considering buying or selling, just keep moving forward while the market is moving forward. As of now, it’s an excellent, vibrant, healthy market.
If you’re in the market to buy, your timing is excellent. With unexpected low interest rates, 2020 is your year!

such as toluene and benzene into the air. That’s not what you had in mind for your home, is it? Try soy wax or beeswax instead.
Simple is Best The smell of Lysol, Febreze, and 409 may signal to your brain that your home is clean, yet in lieu of dirt, now you have a slew of chemicals permeating your home’s surfaces, textiles, and air. A simple Google search will help you find all-natural cleaning solutions instead, using household staples such as vinegar, baking soda, and lemon. Put a Filter On It Block allergens, bacteria, and pathogens with a HEPA filter integrated into your vacuum. Install purifying filters in your air handlers to capture dust, allergens, pet dander, mold spores, and plant pollens. Some are enhanced not only with HEPA but with a pre-filter and charcoal layer to further improve air quality. Lastly, install water filtration systems for your kitchen and bath faucets, showerheads, and drinking water to keep harmful chemicals and particulates from permeating your skin or contaminating your food or beverages.
Get Picky with Your Flame Most of us love the smell of a richly scented candle wafting through the house but be sure the candle you’re burning is made of “clean” wax rather than chemicalladen paraffin. Heating paraffin candles releases toxins
