THE BOURBON CELLAR
THE LIVING ROOM
The location at Hayden and Frank Lloyd Wright is a favorite for their all-around “Fido friendliness.” You’ll find lots of other dogs and their owners kicking back and relaxing on the lively, spacious patio. The picnic-bench-style wooden seating can serve as a cozy little pet nook right under the table – perfect if your pooch is a bit shy. Just ask, and your server can bring over a water bowl and house-made dog treats (made from spent grains from the on-site brewing process). OHSOBrewery.com
At Scottsdale Road and Pinnacle Peak, this fine-dining establishment manages to wow with the upscale menu yet keeps the vibe casual and approachable. It’s perfect for when you’re craving fresh seafood or USDA prime beef steaks, but you don’t want the muss and fuss of an ultra-fancy steakhouse. You’ll also find gourmet burgers, salads, plenty of delicious starters, and the largest bourbon selection in the Valley. Even better, their pooch-friendly patio allows you to bring your fur baby along for your night out. TheBourbonCellar.com
With a North Scottsdale location at Market Street at DC Ranch, the relaxed ambiance here offers a casual place to put your feet up and unwind – perhaps, as the name implies, as comfortable as your living room! Maybe that’s why the patio must feel like home to the four-legged patrons. The contemporary bistro-style cuisine, a massive list of wines from around the world, and a menu with varied options such as sushi rolls, prime rib sliders, flatbreads, bruschettas, and more; make it one of our favorite places to bring our furry companions. Last month we discussed the value of owning income-producing investment properties – rentals – as a means to fund your retirement or simply as another revenue stream for homeowners. Now, WalletHub.com, a financial resources site, has ranked Scottsdale, Arizona as the 10th best place to rent among 180 rental markets across the country. The rankings are based on 24 key measures of rental attractiveness and quality of life. Among those 24 key metrics studied are Rental Vacancy Rate, Share of Newer Homes, Rental Affordability, Cost of Living, Weather, Recreation-Friendliness, Job Market, and City Satisfaction Ranking. While Scottsdale is considered a top-ten destination for renters, it’s also been named the No. 1 city in the nation for Highest Median Rent Growth Forecast. That’s certainly good news for investors purchasing rental properties. And of course, it comes as no surprise to us that Scottsdale was ranked No. 3 for the Quality of Life metric in this study. Earlier this year WalletHub.com named Scottsdale as the No. 1 best city to find a job, the No. 8 best city for recreation, and the No. 5 best city for our traffic and infrastructure.
SPOTLIGHT ON: Duet WHAT THEY DO: Serving older adults in the Valley since 1981, Duet’s mission is to promote health and well-being through vitally needed services to homebound adults, family caregivers, faith communities, and grandfamilies. Volunteers work on a one-on-one basis with their senior partner and may also help with reading the mail, bill pay, tech assistance, and minor handyman needs.

& NOTEWORTHY
If you’re like us, you’ve been dreaming of this time of the year. Sipping hot apple cider, cozying up with a blanket and a good book, and filling the house with the delicious aromas of caramel, pumpkin spice, and cinnamon apples. What better way to embrace the season, than with a front porch that welcomes guests with an enthusiastic nod to fall? With so many different ways to spruce up your front door, we thought we’d highlight just a few of our favorite themes that have us melting with inspiration and anticipation of that first night when a real chill hits the air. Can’t wait!
Elegant Neutrals
Vintage Farmhouse
Yes, autumn is all about the rich colors of turning leaves. Crimsons, oranges, browns, and yellows. However, we’ve fallen in love with a front door décor comprised of a palette of whites, creams, and beiges. Think varying textures and varying tones of this classic monochromatic look. Use white and cream pumpkins and gourds, neutral-colored foliage and flowers planted in bleached driftwood planters, a nubby cream-colored throw, and textured accent pillows in tones of natural beiges.
While this look has made its way into many, many homes recently; we still love this relaxed, homey, and comfortable style. Think classic lanterns filled with twinkling candles, hay bales, milk jugs filled with the quintessential autumn flower – mums, galvanized tin accessories, and of course, the iconic chalkboard sign.
Southwest Style
No matter how you ring in the new season, use your imagination (and some Pinterest inspiration never hurts!) to create just the ambiance that you’re looking for. Happy fall!
From adobe walls and earthy hues to carved wood accessories and a brightly colored front door; the Santa Fe style works well for homes in our Arizona desert too. Even if your home isn’t crafted with authentic adobe architecture, it doesn’t mean you can’t bring a little of that flavor to your front porch décor. Decorate lavishly with dried chile ristras, Mexican blankets and pottery, and dried corn cobs resting among your array of pumpkins and gourds.

FLYING HIGH When it comes to air travel, more and more people are turning to private jet charter options. Set Jet, a membership-based flight program, has recently launched its first international flight route between Scottsdale and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Passengers will fly in luxury aboard a 13- to 15-seat Challenger 850 aircraft. Not heading south of the border? Set Jet also transports its members to the West Coast and Las Vegas and will be adding additional routes to New York, Aspen, Chicago, and Washington D.C. in 2021. SetJet.com
THE RESORT LIFE Marriott International’s Autograph Collection of fine and unique guest properties has recently added Adero Scottsdale resort to their list of modern luxury lodging options. Formerly the CopperWynd resort, the six-story, newly developed resort offers nearly 200 rooms and suites, a boutique spa, wellness studio, two heated pools and a sundeck, their signature restaurant Cielo, a large event lawn, and nearly 17,000 square feet of event space. Add in a sustainability trail featuring indigenous desert plants and a stunning art installation and you’ll see why a sunny staycation may be in order. AderoScottsdale.com
