The story so far… Like many young racing drivers, Luke Browning had a passion for speed from a young age and started his racing career at the age of just ten years old. At first, it was for purely for fun but it soon became apparent that Luke wasn’t just another youngster who wanted to race, but was a potential star of the future with genuine talent to make it to the very top. The competitive urge and the desire to succeed became ever more apparent as Luke made the move from karting into car racing in the Junior Saloon Car Championship. Despite facing his fair share of challenges, Luke’s undoubted speed shone through as he secured race wins and a place in the record books with some of the fastest laps the series had ever seen. That opened to the door for a move into the premier series for junior drivers in British motorsport; the Ginetta Junior Championship. Undeterred by suddenly racing in front of tens of thousands of people as part of the support package for the British Touring Car Championship, Luke’s reputation continued to grow as more and more people became aware of his undoubted talent behind the wheel. 3
A two-year spell in the series resulted in an impressive tally of 18 podium finishes - including eight wins - as Luke launched a bid for title honours, drawing plenty of plaudits for his battling performances on track. A third place championship finish was enough to earn the chance to move to the F4 British Championship; the first step on the ladder for any driver with aspirations of making a career in single-seaters. Despite his rookie credentials, Luke made an astonishing start to his open-wheel career at Brands Hatch, despite a tough qualifying session that left him to start his first race from close to the rear of the grid.
became a regular challenger at the sharp end of the grid.
In wet conditions that allowed his talent to shine through, Luke put in one of the drives of the year as he stormed through the field to win.
Alongside that Thruxton win, there would be a further seven podium finishes - including a run of four-in-arow as the season drew to a close and the rookie looked to end his year on a high.

and performances on track allowing Luke to become a finalist in the annual Porsche GB Scholarship and be nominated for the prestigious Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year. The knowledge and experience gained there, and on track across 2019, will only serve to boost his chances of success in 2020.
The new challenge For the 2020 F4 British Championship season, Luke has his sights firmly fixed on the title having agreed a deal to join the Fortec Motorsports team. Winners of more than 20 championships and 300 races, Fortec has a rich history in single-seater competition and counts the likes of Charles Leclerc, Juan Pablo Montoya and Daniel Ricciardo amongst an impressive list of past drivers. Luke’s deal sees him as part of a three-car assault on the British F4 in 2020 as the team looks to try and add to its already impressive record - with the 18-year-old confident about his chances of launching a championship bid. "I’m pleased to be able to announce I’ll be heading into my second year in British F4 with Fortec Motorsport," he says. "The objective, of course, is to ultimately compete for the championship. I proved myself as a race winner and regular podium finisher last season, so there’s no reason we can’t build on that this time around." Luke would waste little time in getting up to speed and less than 24 hours after his deal was announced, took to the track at Donington Park for official testing alongside the rest of the Class of 2020.

There were no signs of being rusty as Luke was quickly up to speed with his new team, spending time on top of the standings before ending the morning running with the third quickest time. Lowering his benchmark time by two-tenths of a second during the afternoon session, Luke ended up setting the fastest lap of the day with a personal best of 1:07.354 allowing him to edge fellow Fortec driver Roberto Faria out of stop spot. It also meant Luke was able to go three-tenths of a second quicker than the existing qualifying lap record held by double Macau GP winner Dan Ticktum; and was a feat made all the more impressive given that it was the first time Luke had got behind the wheel of a car since October. That speed out of the box points towards Luke being a front-runner once again when the true action gets underway, with the talented teenager undoubtedly one of the favourites to follow in the footsteps of McLaren F1 racer Lando Norris in lifting the coveted championship title.
