Wazzup everyone! So this month I have been chilling a lot. Fishing, surfing with friends (again a lot of BIG waves). I tried windsurfing, but I have only sailed about 3or 4 times. There was no wind... Light wind action though! I had 2 big parties! Here on Aruba when you turn 15 they celebrate it in a fancy way it’s another version of sweet sixteen. It’s in a Ballroom and then you have maids of honor and guys who dance waltz for you. At 1st of the parties I got to be a maid of honor what was a lot of fun. It took about 2 months to train the dance! and then we all had these very nice dresses to wear, fancy! haha nobody ever saw me like that. haha... On the fifth of December we celebrate Sinterklaas is’s almost the same as Santa Claus only Sinterklaas is from Spain and he has helpers who we call Zwarte Pieten. So at night you put your shoe outside with a carrot for his white horse and if you are a good kid you get a present and if you are a bad girl or boy, you will be put in their big bag and go to Spain with them! In any case I can’t wait for the wind to start blowing again. I want to give my Maui Sails a good beating so I will be fully prepared for coming events. The first one is the London Boat Show!!! Surfs up everyone! Sarah-Quita

Amazing Month for Kevin. My month of November has been amazing. I had one of the best months ever. I got to stay on Maui the entire month and we have had incredible wind, waves, and fun. I have been sailing nearly everyday testing all of the new gear and putting it to the test. We have been testing the new booms, masts, harnesses, harness lines, footstraps, board bags, all the gooodies to finish out the Maui Sails lineup. I have also been testing with Dennis Littel on the formula board and there getting ready for Melbourne Formula worlds. Dennis is going quite good and he could be a big threat for the world title. I also caught a nice day at Jaws riding some big waves and having a lot of fun. Phil was supposed to go out and take some photos but he was on the water same time. The last week has been very little wind which is rare for Maui. This is nice to recharge the batteries, have some great surfing action and get ready for another year on tour.

Busy November for Phil. Plenty to do in November. It started with a short trip to Japan to compete in the Baien Cup. Unfortunately the wind didn’t blow until the day after the event. During the event there was plenty time for doing interviews with the Japanese magazines and holding small technical clinics about the new sails and racing tactics. The Japanese are such technical people and love all the new equipment, and are entertained for hours with small discussions.
Back to Maui and it was full on testing, tuning and making new sails. The TR2 was due at the end of November, so we got a lot of quality time on the water. Luckily Maui was perfect in November for wind, ranging from 10 to 35 knots. We were able to meet all the deadlines on delivering the new designs with good progress on the performance, quality and graphics for the TR2. As well as testing the proto’s, some time was spent with our new International teamrider for 2006 Dennis Littel from Holland, getting him tuned up for the Worlds. Kev and Dennis will be heading down to Melbourne, the first week of December to meet up with Dorota, and compete in the Formula World Championships. Unfortunately I’m not able to make it this year due but hopefully I was able to pass some experience onto Dennis for him to be up there in the top with Kev and Dorota. Right now I’m off to China for a week and then onto Sri Lanka to inspect all the final samples of the TR2. Life is moving fast, but I’m looking forward getting back to Maui for some easy sailing before Christmas.
Go shopping. In November we also improved our website. Finally we’ve launched on-line store. You can find there plenty of promo stuff like T-shirts, caps , stickers and a lot more. What is more you can buy there our high end boom front-end. MauiSails front end is a results of work of our development team and experience gathered in many years racing. The checkout in our store works in cooperation with PayPal so you can be sure about the safety of transaction. Just click it and buy it.

Worlds and will meet up with Dorota, Kevin and Dennis to see how we did in the development.
November and Thanksgiving. What a wonderful holiday. Lots of friends and food and no gifts. And it’s a particularly good time for all of us here at MauiSails, just because we are getting ready to finish off the year with a round of new race sail designs based on our steady work during the month of November. We have been able to try a lot of new ideas and some of the results of the testing have been very encouraging. Both Phil and I are leaving for several weeks of Asian travel. He goes to China and then will meet me in Sri Lanka later to finalize everything. Then I go to Melbourne for the Formula
I have been very lucky this month to have my Mom visit from San Francisco. She is ninety years old and still going strong. You can see from the photo that she is having a ball steering the Hula Girl off Lahaina. And my son, Zeppo, and his girlfriend, Sarah are enjoying themselves as well. Barry’s Tip of the Month: When you are rolling your sail, if you have a problem with the head area getting odd folds in it, then you should experiment with laying the sail back on itself (don’t make a fold though), at the second or third batten. Then roll around that batten and the head will roll in flat with no creases. Experiment with which batten to roll around and don’t make a crease there. I think you’ll find it’s just as easy to roll the sail, and it will stay smoother in the head. Aloha, Barry www.mauisails.com | 0

Littel news. Her back is back. November was a cold month for Dorota who spent it in Poland getting in shape for World Championships in Australia next month. After another two months of rehabilitation she finally managed to get her back to proper condition, which suffered disk injury back in May. "This year first time in my life I had to stop treat my body like it was a robot, but give it full attention and extraordinary care instead" - said Dorota. ...for years I wasn’t aware of special attention my back required, which should include daily stretching and certain type of exercise, and a series of physiotherapy treatment at least 4 weeks in the end of each racing season. Now I see the importance of it, but it happened only after I earned myself a very serious damage. Using extra big sails, pumping or even carrying stuff around the beach is literally killing racer’s back. Add wrong sitting habits, uhh even brushing your teeth over the sink every morning and you accelerate the process without noticing it...
Maui...the windsurf Mecca. I’m here for almost 2 months now, and I’m enjoying every single minute I’m here. The first month if did a lot of slalom training, and I really learned a lot in this period. And also got the first rides with the new TR-2 sails and they rock! In November the wind was less then the month before, but still enough to do some formula testing and training. Testing the new TR-2 sails was a total new experience for me, and I liked it a lot. There is no better training for the new season then doing it like this! And thanks to all of this I feel confident to sail a good result at the worlds in Melbourne. Lets see what the next month brings! Aloha, Dennis Littel.
It is funny how having all the fun windsurfing and getting into winning drive I forgot about whole world and believed I was immortal. That was me for almost 16 years going full speed... Finally it got me and the worst thing those last few months was the fear the injury comes back. But today, I can feel my abdominals and all little muscles around my back being much stronger and no back pain even after whole day of sailing. This gives me the confidence I need to perform. I was so afraid I wouldn’t be ready for the Championships but today I am certain I will be fine" Dorota’s ambition is enormous. She will fight hard in Melbourne to defend the Formula World Champion title, which she won already four times in last five years. www.mauisails.com | 0
