Month of The No.1 wave sailor YEAH!!!! Super Stoked.. I finally won again after a couple year drought of seconds, thirds, and fourths. To be able to win the 2006 PWA Wave World Title on Maui Sails and Starboard!! I am so stoked you can’t believe it!! I still can’t believe it. The month of November was filled with stress for me. I had the world title on the line, I was sitting in first place for over two months, and here it was just sitting on the platter waiting for me to take the title. I put so much pressure on myself to win it was incredible, and to come out on top... what a relief. Svein, the Starboard boss, was on Maui, and that made it even more difficult to maintain composure knowing that my next year’s contract was on the line as well. But you know the rest and I put my MauiSails Legends in the top spot. I am pretty stoked with the way the season went this year. I think it shows how much Maui Sails has progressed, and has proven that our product are ready for people to use and enjoy. Taty was second in Freestyle on the Locos. Sarah was second in freestyle riding the Globals. I was third in slalom on the TR-2’s, second in SuperX with the Switchs, and winning the waves on the Legends, making all our high performance sails finish top three in the world. All of these sails were straight out of our factory with no changes, exactly what you can get from a local dealer.

That’s all for this month. I have had a couple weeks to celebrate the victory, and then I need to get back at it. The wind and waves are finally starting to come in and hit us with normal winter power. I’ll be out there this afternoon, for sure. To all the MauiSails fans and supporters, thanks for your continued interest. It means a lot to me to win the World Title, but it also means a lot for me to see you guys out on the water enjoying the stuff that we make. Thanks for all your support, and without you guys I might just not be where I am today! Thanks and Aloha! Kevin.

That’s pretty crazy for a team with only three riders doing the world tour. Now we just need to have some recreational tournaments and I’m sure that the MS-2, Pursuit, and Aloha could take top honors in that as well. My suggestion is that you go out and try a MauiSails rig this season and I am sure you will be satisfied. Thanks to Sarah and Taty for great performances all year!

The Queen meets the Queen. Hellooooo Everyone!! So what have I done this month?? I met Queen Beatrix! from Holland, she came to visit The Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. Her Majesty had the honor of meeting Aruba’s outstanding athletes. My sport was chosen (windsurfing), together with 10 other sports. Every sport had 1 person that got to talk to the Queen, and I was that one WOHOOO. You had to send her a CV, so she already knew a bunch of stuff about you when she speaks to you.

She told me to train hard for next year if I want to become World Champion. Somehow I managed to squeeze in the subject of hotel construction of the Ritz Carlton. hmmmmm Will it help? I don’t know but we’ll see. I also gave her a windsurfing picture of me. So ! that was about it. Afterwards I went sailing. AWESOME session! With my bro and my homies Phillip and Astor ! haha. At school... I got my report card which came out pretty good actually, no insufficient marks at all. Oh! It rained so much 1 day this month that the school had flood! YAHOOOO!!! hahahha a day off. You could barely drive in the streets with all of the water. For November it has been a pretty windy month I think. These days I’m practicing chachos and as well some other moves too. Now we’re waiting for some waves!! A few days ago I went surfing. Some good stuff! I can’t wait till there’s enough wind so I can also go wave sailing. ALOHA Sarah-Quita

Time flies for Taty.

New Stuff on the website.

It’s another end of a month and slowly comes the time that we say goodbye to 2006.

There are lots of new things on the website for MauiSails.

Well, November was really warm here on Bonaire as the wind was really light there wasn’t much to do. So I started working on my house, due that I haven’t work on it for almost 8 months. I also check the PWA site daily to see how Kevin was doing on the wave event in Maui, and also checking the Maui forecast to see how the wind would be the next day. I am really happy that Kevin is the 2006 Wave World Champion and this was a great year for MauiSails and myself with 2nd position in PWA freestyle. I also received the second prototype flare from Starboard but the wind is to light to test it so I hope the wind kicks in soon, Tiesda is really pulling on my neck for test results. Well I don’t have much to say, I really would like the wind to come back so that I can go out on the water and train.

Everyday we are closer to 2007 so it’s the right time to present the next round of sails that we prepared for you. Go to Products >> Sails, and check out what gear you will want to use soon. In addition, we released our accessories line. This full set of extra toys will make your life easier on the water, and on the road. Go to Products >> Accessories and see quivers, bags, harnesses, footstraps, and a lot more. Also we just published our 2007 brochure in PDF format. On the top of every web page you will find a yellow tab that sends you to the fifty-six page complete catalog. Barry finally got off his butt and updated his corner with new stories after a little break. Also, in the gallery you will find photos from PWA Aloha Wave Classic and some new cool desktop wallpapers. Don’t miss the action, click it!

Phil still pushing him self. November started with a Bang! Aloha Classic was on everyone’s mind, including mine because I wanted to qualify for the main event and have a chance to sail against the best wave sailors in the World one more time, at the best location in the World, Hookipa Beach Park, which has been my home break for the past 21 years. I first competed in the Mens Masters and ended up a credible second place to Josh Stone. This gave me a enough “notice points” from the powers which decided on the slots for the main event and I got in. Game on! Unfortunately the wind and waves didn’t cooperate the first few days of the event and I ended up sailing in some shitty conditions, which was light and small waves. Not the usual Big surf which I was hoping for, but I had fun and made the most of the conditions. Obviously the big news for us here at MauiSails was Kevin’s performance, which boasted him into another World title for Wave Performance. Another very consistent year from Kevin and a testament to our new sails. All our customers love them, but it’s even more convincing when they win a World Championship, then nobody can argue against that. Game over!

After the event finished we had some ok wave sailing and got stuck back into the TR-3 testing. We finally figured out how to make the sleeves fit very snug and still have great rotation on the cams. So we are well and truly down the road to finishing the designs and Barry and Art have done a great job making all the changes necessary to put together another race winning set of sails. A new challenge for me the past few months has been to compete in the Honolulu Marathon in December, so I’ve been doing a bunch of running and getting my long runs up to about 20 miles (3hours) in preparation for the event. Running is certainly challenging and much harder than windsurfing, but I love it. Going sailing for a few hours then putting on the shoes and heading into the night sky for a few hours on the pavement is something that doesn’t come easy, but I like to push myself and I’m always up for a new challenge. “Life is good, it’s there for the taking”. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and we’ll report back in early January. Aloha Phil.

Barry’s November. November was good to us. At least in the beginning. Who can complain about winning the big one for the year, having a good contest with so many sailing days, and seeing lots of MauiSails on all the podiums. I had a visit from my ninetyone year old Mom, and did my best not to eat too much of her great little taste treats over the holiday. And we got her out to the Hula Girl, which is her favorite thing to do when she comes here. If she only windsurfed too! And the race sail development has continued to be rewarding us with better and better performance from the new TR-3s. As we figured out what it takes to get the nice balance while keeping the kind of rig tension we like, the whole thing started to make more sense. Now we are going through the range and refining the basic shaping and twist that we worked through in October and November. Kevin has been feeling good about testing these new sails, so that makes a month that has had all the good stuff in one package. I am so happy for him, as he is not only making a personal statement, he is also helping to define his business investment and drive it to the top. Can’t really ask for a better November than that (especially the Mom visit).

With the delivery of our accessories this month, we now have a complete suite of products we can offer and deliver for the first time. With almost exactly two years passing from the time we were set adrift by our former partners, I feel we have finally gotten all the parts of the picture in place to live up to the success we have had in the realm of competition. I look forward to seeing it be easier and easier for anyone who wants to enjoy the MauiSails experience to be able to do so. Isn’t it time for getting into those Christmas gifts? Aloha, Barry "This was last year before Christmas in Australia. He’s the airport bomb sniffer."
