August was hang on a minute... The month of August was... hang on a minute, it’s November 1st already!... Wow. How time flies when you’re having fun. So let me start again, the month of October was amazing Maui conditions. We had some epic Hookipa days that just don’t get any better. Mast high, ripping down the line, adrenaline pumping, heart pounding in fear of what that huge wall of whitewater is going to do to you, this is what Maui dreams are made of. To top it off, it wasn’t even that crowded. I’ve been sailing nearly every day, getting ready for the world famous Aloha Classic. For me this event is ever so important, since a World Title is on the line. I am currently sitting in first position on the PWA Wave rankings, and I’m pretty happy about that. We have one event left, and this is it! This is the barn burner of all events, the one that makes you or breaks you. Hookipa is a tough venue and anything can happen. Kauli Saudi has been here training a bit. He’s is currently second in the rankings and looking very solid out on the water. Victor Fernandez is also ready to stab at Hookipa stardom, and Josh Angulo is always a threat on his home turf. Barry has been helping me out on my mental game to just envision the victory... so as I type I can see it, I’m standing on top of the winners box. it just gives me goose bumps thinking about coming out on top! Time will tell so just wait and see.

I did have one magic session, just me and two other friends on Maui’s Westside. It sticks out in my mind only because the waves were so clean and glassy, and they were just peeling forever. I had some insane rides, having the time of my life. It was almost like a kid at Christmas the waves were so good! I had an aerial off the lip that was the biggest, highest one of my life, and I have had quite a collection of big aerial’s. This one was so big and high I was up in the air and looking down thinking, "What the heck am I going to do now?" It was an all time memory in my windsurfing career. Guess you had to be there. I have also been working on the website www.islandstylevacations.com. This has been a project of mine and I finally got it up and running and looking pretty good. If you interested in coming to Maui and finding some killer deals on vacation rental homes you should check out this site! That’s all for now, wish me luck in the Aloha and see you on the water! Aloha, Kevin.

Not much Wind this Month for Sarah. This month I have sailed about 2 times. There was absolutely no wind. While I was in Sylt the wind was blowing like crazy in Aruba. So when I went home I was eager to go sailing.. Guess what I came too late! Now the wind was blowing in Sylt and not in Aruba. Right now I’m practicing Gozzada, flat water shaka’s oh I forgot.still practicing loops. Anyway Since I haven’t done much this month, and you guys haven’t read my Monthly article from last month This is what I did last month. We had a full moon "party" at the beach with the kids to whom we give lessons every saturday, we made pancakes, and ate them haha. The kids were sailing till dark which was cool to see how they are into windsurfing. After this my dad and I were off to Sylt!! (Colgate World Cup) I was going to try myself out in the waves. So the day before I left to Sylt (which was way too late) I went practicing jumps on the other side of the island, Especially my loops, I think I’ve made some progress with them, I spin all the way around only now I land on the side of my board which hurts a little. But one good thing! I landed some shakas that day YYAHOOOOOO. Anyway back to my trip to Sylt. First we flew to Amsterdam, then we borrowed a car and a caravan and drove to Sylt. Before you get to Sylt though you have to get on a car train. We arrived at night. "Bertha" our GPS had done a good job!

So next day it was time to register. I did, and was excited because I’d have to wear a long wetsuit and surf in real cold water. Right off the first day the forecast didn’t look good for the week. The locals say it has to be bad weather for it too be windy.personally I didn’t mind the sun shining. But then on the other hand.I had only brought winter clothes, so I wasn’t prepared at all for this warm weather. Anyway it turned out to be a week of sitting and waiting for wind. What made it fun for me was that the people were very interested in the riders and they’d ask you for Autographs.(which was fun!) Basically what I did every day was chilling in the sailors lounge, or at the starboard tent, and sign autographs. And I did some interviews. I tried to sail 3 times, with my 5.0 I was planing a little bit on one day. The last day there was an expression session of freestyle. I was the only girl in between all the guys.I wanted to sail so bad hahaha. So the last day was the award ceremony. Congrats To Kev with his 3rd overall place in slalom and Taty 2nd place overall in freestyle. As for me I’m so happy that I finished second in freestyle this year. Also a lot of good luck to Kevin in the wave comp at Ho’okipa! CIAO GUYS!!!!!!! Sarah-Quita

How fast the days go by for Taty. It’s funny how fast the days go by. I remember just arriving home and immediately had to participate in the 2006 39th Bonaire international regatta. When I arrived home (Bonaire) from Sylt the wind was great I sailed with my new 4.5 global for 4 days straight, and it was fun because usually the wind is never so good this time of the year, so getting back home and sailing on small stuff was sweet. The Bonaire regatta was fun, I was on the Starboard 161 formula and on the Tr2 9.5 that I got from Kevin Pritchard. The sail is the best I ever sailed yet the handling is easy. There were 8 races so that was 2 races everyday due to the many categories of classes: many yachts, sunfish, catamarans, optimist etc etc. I won all of the 8 races in formula. I also competed and won in the RSX class but it was by close with another Bonaire. We had four races and I won two races by far and placed second on the two other races, but I still won with a one point difference. In the light wind freestyle: it was Kiri who won the elimination with his gecko flaka, with me in 2nd place and jeager sint Jago in third. UHHU, I also am working on the prototype flare board for starboard, so i have some pretty nice ideas for the near future and I am hoping the wind pick up so that I can test it. writing the report the wind is not good for freestyle, but good to do formula sailing so I might end this here and go out and sail. Later dudes...Taty.

Barry. What a wonderful month. What a wonderful month it has been. Kevin is back on island and getting lots of practice in good surf and people stop me and tell me how good he looks in the waves. That has made me all pumped to see the Aloha Classic go off, and to have him fulfill his destiny without problems. The 2007 sails are getting lots of use, and the feedback is satisfying. Magazines, dealers, and sailors continue to motivate with their positive reactions. My story this month has to be the resurrection of the Hula Girl. September saw her getting her bottom dry for the first time in three years. Life on the roadstead is tough for an old girl. When we really got under her skin, there was a lot more than we already knew was in jeopardy. So September was the month of tearing apart, and October became the month of putting back together. We started by having a huge wildfire that burned 10% of the island threaten the boats and the harbor structures for days, helicopters flying buckets of water over our heads, ashes raining. Then just days after the fire, a huge storm system moved through, dumping inches of rain and flooding the yard, and most of the island. During all of this we were grinding and ripping and tearing. Cracked bulkheads, broken hatches, lifeline stanchions torn off by collision with a larger yacht,
Phil. Wave Sailing Month. Wave sailing was a big number this month as well as more race sail testing. When we had swell, Hookipa has been "going off". Recently we even had a mast and half day with light winds, but a few of us were able to creep out through the channel and pick up a some big one’s. Kev and I have been chasing some light wind to get up to date on the race sail testing, progress is good so we are excited to finish off the range as we move towards the end of the year.

rotten cockpit sole, seriously damaged rudders, and major structures cracked and failing, all screamed at us every day. But we persisted, three guys who love the girl. And then came the next curve ball from Mother Nature. Fortuitously, on a Saturday afternoon, we lowered her off the jackstands under the hulls onto the launching trailer so we could move her to the area where she would be painted. That Sunday morning, Hawaii experienced the strongest earthquake (6.7) in many years, and I’m sure if we hadn’t done that, she would have fallen over. My house shook till the water was sloshing out of the fish tank and ceramics were falling and crashing on the floor. Lucky? Nope. Hula Girl. Aloha, Barry.
On the business side of things we have seen an increase in volume compared to 2005. The new 2007 wave sails have been selling out of stock and especially the Legends seem to be a big hit. We are now delivering the new MS2, Pursuit and Aloha’s to all importers. The carbon booms have all sold through and we have started more production on those, same goes for the Aluminium booms.
