The Mannerheim Suite Nordic Elegance, the Charm of a Legend The Mannerheim Suite takes its name from the General and later President, a frequent guest who resided at the Kämp for a year. At the summit of a majestic staircase lie 258 square meters of indisputable elegance. Tall French windows open onto a balcony overlooking the famous gardens of Esplanade Park. Inside, an enchanting mélange of styles recalls the opulence of the late nineteenth century and the richness and diversity of Finland’s heritage. High ceilings with heavily moulded cornices, sumptuous draperies, polished mahogany joinery and inlaid parquet floors reflect the luxury of the past while offering contemporary comfort. The colour scheme of deep purple and gold and the furniture is reminiscent of Swedish and Imperial Russia with early twentieth century Finnish originals. Antique or specifically commissioned paintings adorn all of the rooms and the carpets are hand-woven in a late eighteenth century design; the wall covering is a hand painted damask pattern. The dining room has a walnut table that can seat 14; the master bedroom — practically a suite in its own right — is dominated by a canopied bed in neoclassical style and has a separate dressing room and an apsidal bathroom with a private sauna and exercise area.
