ave you been noticing (I’m sure you have) that Slipstream has some new Advertisers? The UPS Store joined us a couple months before Christmas. James was full of bills because he also received the bill for the MAVPCA website of $95.52. Christy made a motion that this be a paid expense by the club each year. All agreed. The last item on James’ agenda was to discuss the book he had in his hands 2008 RPM – Regions Procedure Manual. This has all of the appropriate procedures that need to be followed for each event in the Porsche Club. The Pres would like for each Chairman in the club to read over their part to make sure all rules and regulations are being followed. This manual is on-line on the PCA website. Who is “Nationalâ€? by Wendy ShofďŹ t

ho do you complain to about the new seatbelt rule at Driver Education events? Who do you talk to if you want to change the rule to allow your 16-year old niece to participate in an autocross? National, of course. I say that with complete ease DQG FRQĂ€GHQFH EHFDXVH , NQRZ ZKDW LW PHDQV 'R \RX" ,I you don’t, I’ll explain it simply. “Nationalâ€? is our way of grouping all the people within PCA who have accepted a national chairmanship. These positions include Insurance Chair, Zone Representatives, Club Race Chair, DE Chair, Sponsorship Chair, Parade Chair, etc. It also includes our elected President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, and Past PresPCA Vice President ident. I can’t even tell you Kurt Gibson how many people there are, but they’re listed in Panorama and on the pca.org website. These people live all over the country and are giving their time and energy to make our club great.

Sandra Mayr comes from Germany as Porsche Club Coordinator Team Leader

Diego’s in Solana, right next to the Marriott hotel where most of everyone was staying. Diego’s, as you might guess from the name, is a delightful Mexican food restaurant. They seemed to handle our large group well. In total we were around 100, including a good number of local region members. The food was outstanding and the conversation was even better! National staffers love getting to know the locals.

I’ve been to seven Parades (and counting) and during that time I’ve gotten to know many people on the national staff. I used to think that they would all be stuffed shirts and be hard to talk to. The good news is‌ that is far from the truth. These people are really and truly just like us (unless you’re a stuffed shirt). Most are very down to earth and just plain fun to talk to. They’re happy to talk to you about what’s going on and are even happy to hear your complaints. They might not AGREE with you, but then what

You might not be aware that there is a national board meeting twice a year, one in the summer and one in the winter. The summer meeting is held in conjunction with Parade, the weeklong national convention. In the winter it’s usually held somewhere in the south, hoping it will be warmer and easier travel than to those northern regions. Anyway, this year the board meeting was held here in Solana (near TMS) from February 1-2. National board members came from far and wide to discuss the current state of the club and ways to improve areas that need help. People just like you and me talk about good and bad goings on in our local regions and ZD\V WR À[ WKH EDG DQG VSUHDG WKH JRRG Meetings go on for two days, the biggest of which happens on the 2nd day. Come join the fun, either at Parade or maybe even the next winter board meeting location. They’re good people who have stepped up to make our club the best in the world!

A

I see you report 82,000 miles on the car. It is possible you have a torn oil separator boot, forward left on the engine, or an intake air leak somewhere else, perhaps in the brake vacuum booster. Since you noted rainwater, check the previous Q&A about the rain drains clogging in these cars when run high miles without someone checking them every few years. Rainwater pools under the brake booster, it rusts, then has a puncture. That amounts to an intake system air leak, plus, bonus, you can be getting water in there now, in addition to air that ZDV QRW PHDVXUHG E\ WKH PDVV DLUà RZ PHWHU /HW XV NQRZ ZKDW \RX ÀQG

A

Jim, over the years I have seen rust, old plastic cable sheathing, sheet metal screws from accessory mountings and overly long seat belt mounting bolts that push against the housing and bend it. For rust and old cable parts that were jammed in the tube, I have had to buy a 4ft. section of solid steel rod, grind a point on the tip, and force it through the obstruction by twisting or hammering. First make sure it isn’t the belt anchor or something sheet metal screwed to the tunnel that pierced the cable tube.
