DRESSING GROOM z
As well as looking good, the groom needs to feel comfortable on his wedding day. A well fitted suit will provide both - style and comfort.
Consider the cut, colour, size and style when suit shopping for your wedding - and accessorise! It’s the attention to detail that will really shine through on the day.
CHOOSING YOUR SUIT
Before you race out to buy a suit, it’s worthwhile to consider your options. While your upcoming wedding is the perfect opportunity to introduce something new into the wardrobe, hiring is also a viable option.
A well-fitted suit is a must for your special day, whether you’re considering hiring, purchasing off the rack, tailor made or bespoke.
STYLE:
Will it be a formal, classic, modern, rustic or casual beach styled wedding? Knowing this will influence your dress code and the style of suit you wear.
Formal black-tie: A well tailored, fitted and minimalistic black tuxedo with a classic crisp white shirt, black leather shoes and a black bowtie will have you looking the part.
While usually worn for formal style weddings, a black tuxedo, when coupled with more casual accessories can also look just as at home in a less formal setting.
CUT:
A slim fit suit is popular with the young modern male. It has a neat fit, and is flattering for a slimmer built physique.
A tailored fit is a timeless style of suit. It allows a more generous fit than a slim fit suit, but is not as roomy as a regular fit. It features clean lines and a stylish silhouette.
Tip: A double breasted suit works wonders if you want to camouflage a larger waistline.
COLOUR:
You don’t want to clash with the bridal party, but you don’t need to match perfectly either. It’s best to try to subtly complement colours rather than match. Focus on matching the accessories instead which will help to tie everything together.
SIZE:
A poorly fitted suit just won’t do on your wedding day.
When trying on a suit jacket, the first thing to note is how the shoulders fit. If it’s too tight (shoulder bite) or too loose (shoulder sag), it’s best to try on a different size. Some sizing problems can be easily altered, while other corrections aren’t so easy. There are plenty of styles available, so with a bit of perseverance, you’re sure to find the perfect fit.
Semi-formal: A well tailored suit is a focal point of semi-formal attire. A little subdued, It’s not so much about the accessories as it is about an exceptionally tailored suit. A dark blue or dark grey suit would work well here. Narrow cut styles look modern and classic, and with the addition of a slim tie and black or brown leather shoes, this look retains a certain amount of formality without the ‘stuffiness’ of a formal tuxedo.
Cocktail: Cocktail attire is a little more about the individual details such as a stylish tie or textured/checkered shirt. Perfect for a modern styled wedding.
Smart casual: A smart casual style is usually achieved with less structured, softer textured materials. Think waistcoats without a jacket or suspenders to add a casual rustic charm. Perfect for beach or country weddings.
Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.
DRESSING THE BRIDAL PARTY
Choosing and co-ordinating the outfits for the entire wedding party is usually one of the most enjoyable aspects of planning a wedding. As well as dressing for the occasion, comfort (especially for the children in your wedding party), is a necessity.
The best way to keep your bridesmaids happy is by ensuring they feel comfortable and confident in their chosen dresses. It’s a good idea to start looking early, particularly for shoes and accessories, as it can be a time consuming task if you have a number of bridesmaids. When it comes to the groomsmen’s attire, it’s important to have a basic idea of the style of the bridesmaids’ dresses to ensure they will complement each other. The groomsmen usually differ from the groom by wearing a different coloured vest, tie or other accessories.
motherof the bride & groom
MOTHER OF THE BRIDE & GROOM
The Mother of the Bride & Groom dress code is generally a little more formal and a little more outstanding than that of other guests. The colour should complement your bridesmaids and be a colour that she is comfortable wearing. Your wedding will be one of the highlights of her life as well, so it’s important that she looks and feels fabulous too!

When Yandell finally decided to come back to the Gold Coast after years of professionally dancing her way around the world, she met the love of her life, Pete, who hailed from Innisfail, a small country town in far north Queensland.
They may not have met each other had it not been for Yandell’s previous dance teacher, who also happened to be Pete’s sisterin-law. Playing cupid, she mentioned to Yandell one day that she had the perfect man to introduce her to, now that she was living back on the Gold Coast. After a few messages back and forth via Instagram, Yandell and Pete went on a blind date, and they never looked back! Both found that they loved talking about Europe, so much so, that Yandell refers to it as their “love language”. Pete’s sister-in-law was right, he was indeed the perfect man for Yandell. Yandell admits that she knew when Pete was planning to propose to her. One Monday, Pete asked her not to organise anything for the coming Sunday morning as he wanted to take her on a picnic. She laughs and says it was a dead giveaway, as men never organise a picnic a week in advance! When the Sunday morning arrived, they rugged up, got blankets out and watched the sunrise on the beach. “It was so perfect” she remembers.
reallife weddings
Excited to get married, Yandell says Pete let her choose and organise what she wanted. “It was a dream team” she laughs. Excited as she was to get married, she didn’t expect however, to have to organise two weddings spanning over almost two years! But as they were planning their dream wedding in Malta, COVID hit! And just like that their dream European wedding was cancelled. They had to start all over again from scratch to plan a wedding closer to home. Pete and Yandell found their new perfect wedding venue in The Valley Estate.
Yandell loved the excitement in the lead up to their wedding, and they both enjoyed the hens and bucks parties organised by their bridal party. “They sure know how to throw a party”, she says. Yandell had two beautiful wedding gowns, a Pronovias gown and a Mila Nova gown. Pete and his groomsmen wore suits from Jack London, and Yandell’s bridesmaids wore dresses from Billy J Boutique. “I loved my bridesmaid’s Billy J dresses” she says, “they were the perfect colour I was looking for to make my bridal party a neutral tone palette.”
Ordering online, she had all her bridesmaids over to try on the dress and then ordered their correct sizes online. “It was a very easy and cost-effective way to do it”, she says. To this day, she still has girls messaging her on social media to ask where she got the bridesmaid’s gorgeous dresses from.
reallife weddings
Some guests travelled from Cairns and Sydney to attend their wedding, but most were Gold Coast locals. The weather was perfect, the venue was amazing, and they received a lot of positive feedback from their guests about the stunning venue which worked hard to ensure everyone was looked after on the day. Their photographer, Dani from Danielle Webster Photography was incredible. Yandell knew Dani prior to their wedding, so she and her bridal party felt comfortable in her presence, making for great wedding photos. At the end of the night after 4 hours of non-stop dancing to the best tunes from their band, Elevation Band, they finally retired to the guest house with a bottle of Moet from The Valley Estate team and enjoyed some of their wedding cake together. With COVID still circulating, they could only travel within Queensland, so they headed up north to Cairns and Port Douglas for a relaxing honeymoon.
Married life is amazing
“Married life is amazing” says Yandell, “and even though we didn’t get our original dream wedding, our wedding at The Valley Estate was a dream come true, and still the best day of our lives that we always talk about.”
Yandell and Pete’s wedding advice:
“Do your research for everything. Stay calm through the process, and if you really want something, put the endless hours of research in to make it happen. Use local suppliers and support local businesses as they are so friendly to work with compared to the big guys. It’s the best day of your life and you only do it once, so enjoy the journey.”
A shared passion for fashion and footwear was the spark that first united Olivia and Minh.
It was 2015, at the Railway Hotel in Melbourne, where Minh and his mate were happily queue hopping, that he first noticed Olivia. Stopping him dead in his tracks, he complimented Olivia’s jumper and through further chatting, managed to impress her with his sneaker count. Olivia had met her match - a guy with more sneakers than her!
With their combined love of fashion, top quality sneakers, good coffee, food and travel, they set up a life together in London. It was during the Covid lockdown, on Olivia’s birthday, that Minh proposed to her. They decided on a mixture of conventional and non-conventional ideas for their wedding. So instead of visiting traditional wedding shops for their wedding outfits, they chose outfits by their favourite designers in “wedding colours”. They settled on a traditional church ceremony; however, their reception was less conventional, opting for a daytime cocktail party along the banks of the Brisbane river. Planning their wedding from London came with some issues, especially in choosing a venue. However, with the help of Olivia’s mother and sisters, who inspected prospective venues on their behalf, they soon settled on Bougainvillea House at Howard Smith Wharves.
reallife weddings
The couple returned to Australia ahead of their Brisbane wedding for their pre-wedding celebrations, which comprised of a weekend at Hamilton Island for Olivia’s Hens and Melbourne for Minh’s Bucks party. The day of their wedding was stunning; clear skies and 21 degrees. Their special day got underway with a traditional ceremony at St Pauls Orthodox Church, followed by a casual daytime cocktail party with canapes and wine, accompanied by the sounds of a jazz band. Guests from Lebanon, Vietnam, London, Melbourne, Sydney and Cairns enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and were able to move around and chat with other guests freely, just as Olivia and Minh had planned. Minh’s favourite part of the wedding was the moment he saw Olivia in the church. Olivia? Well, she loved it all! It surprised them both that they enjoyed their wedding day as much as they did.
reallife weddings
Their photographer, EKP Studios was a last-minute step in due to their original photographer cancelling on them. They captured their special day perfectly. Topping off their wedding with a romantic honeymoon in France, Nice, Monaco, Cannes and Paris, Olivia and Minh’s best advice to other couples is to “enjoy the day, it goes so quick!”

As a wedding planner herself, Brianna had an intimate understanding of weddings – the planning side of them at least. But now it was finally her turn to experience it as a bride!
Brianna and Ben, both Toowoomba locals, met soon after she finished high school when she started working at the Café where Ben also worked.
On their 8th year anniversary, when Ben planned a weekend away together, Brianna had an inkling something was up. Her intuition was spot on, and though she wasn’t surprised by Ben’s proposal that weekend, she says “it was still a surprise how he’d organised an afternoon wine and cheese board at the lake view deck at Spicers Clovelly, where we were staying.”
He had also organised a photographer to capture the proposal, which she admits was “so incredibly special that we have the moment forever!” Though she worked in the wedding industry, Brianna wanted to enjoy and partake in the whole wedding planning experience as a bride-to-be, so she spent time doing her research to see what she really wanted for her own wedding.
They booked Preston Peak Winery soon after getting engaged, and then set about organising their photographer and videographer, flowers and styling, food and beverages, and their wedding attire. They focussed on these elements as they added to the atmosphere of their wedding and would be remembered through their photos many years later. With their date set for just over a year away, Brianna says it was a “really nice amount of time as it wasn’t too long to wait, but also gave us plenty of time to book and organise everything.”
reallife weddings
While Ben was happy most of the time to go along with whatever Brianna said she liked, he was not too fussed on some of the smaller details. Funnily enough, it’s often those little details which can sometimes make all the difference, whether to the overall atmosphere of the wedding or to the couple themselves. The place cards, menus and signage that Ben wasn’t too keen on to begin with, ended up being incredibly special to him as they used his late grandfather’s business cards to make the place cards.
“It was so special to feel like he was a part of our day” says Brianna, who also attached to her bouquet, brooches from both sides of her family, one of which was worn by her mother on her wedding day. Leading up to their wedding they had their hens and bucks weekends with their bridal parties, closest friends and cousins, and Brianna also had a bridal shower the week before the wedding. And then their special day finally arrived! The weather had been fine all week leading up to the day, but became overcast and started to lightly rain, just before and during their ceremony. However, it was during their pre-reception photos that it really started to bucket down!
“We braved it for the stunning photos and video we now have” Brianna recalls, adding that the rain added a winter wedding feel to the day.
The whole experience was absolutely amazing!
reallife weddings
Luckily they decided to brave the weather conditions, otherwise they would not have been able to enjoy the surprise Same Day Edit Video that their videographer and some of Brianna’s friends from work had organised!
“This was absolutely amazing watching our day back during the night with all of our guests!” she recalls.
Their guests who travelled from as far as Mount Isa and Newcastle, and from the Gold Coast and Brisbane commented on the abundant food and beverages, and the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere of their Preston Peak wedding.
“Preston Peak was beautiful, they just look after you!” says Brianna. “Everything is taken care of for you on the day, so there is no need to stress or keep an eye on timelines or anything.”
Brianna states that all their vendors went above and beyond for them.
“The whole experience was absolutely amazing!” she says. “We cannot recommend them all enough!”
After their wedding, Brianna and Ben spent their first night as a married couple at their home. Having purchased their home the week that they became engaged, they admit it was so nice to just go home after such a big day. They then enjoyed their honeymoon week, visiting wineries and eating amazing food at the Hunter Valley, staying at Spicers Vineyards Estate which they report was amazing!
Brianna’s wedding advice:
“Enjoy the planning process and spend time with just the two of you on the day. It was the best thing we did!”
“The most memorable thing about our day was just having everyone, family and friends who we love, in the same place at the same time, having the best time together” she says. “Oh, and marrying the man I love!”

An anniversary picnic planned by Adam turned out to be so much more than Naina had anticipated. Adam had been secretly planning this day for some time, having bought an engagement ring months earlier, gaining permission and approval from Naina’s family, and even organising for a photographer to secretly capture the surprise proposal. And surprise it was! For Naina, it was an unexpected moment of joy when she turned to see Adam on his knee with a ring, proposing to her!
By the time they started planning for their wedding, it left them with only five months, so decisiveness was key. For Naina, choosing a wedding dress in such a short timeframe was not easy. Like most brides-to-be, she wanted her dress to be perfect. They both had an idea of what they wanted for their special day though, and once they found Bracknell Lodge, everything else started to fall into place. The venue was ideal as it provided a chapel, accommodation, a fantastic setting for photoshoot opportunities, decorations, plus use of their kitchen. This was perfect for Naina and Adam as they were keen to provide food which integrated their Indian and German cultures.
reallife weddings
As guests from Sydney and India prepared to attend their wedding, Naina and Adam started their day by writing a touching letter to each other. It was a cloudy day that greeted them, and a bit cold and windy, but once their reception started, the heaters in the barn warmed everyone up! “Guests were surprised and in awe of how beautiful it was” says Naina. Their photographer, Paul from Studio SW19 captured their spectacular photos. Having originally found Studio SW19 at a Your Local Wedding Guide expo, Naina and Adam were very thankful that they hired Paul. Giving him a rating of 10/10, they appreciated that he inspired confidence, and that they were able to simply enjoy themselves, trusting that he would choreograph and capture their day perfectly.

Guests were surprised and in awe of how beautiful it was
Their host Bek, from Bracknell Lodge made their perfect day even more perfect, and the flowers from Flowers by Helena, “just looked beautiful”, Naina recalls. Asked if anything surprised them at their wedding, and like most couples, they replied that they were most surprised at how quickly the day went!
Naina and Adam’s wedding advice:
“Definitely ask your bridal party to help you with the loose ends.”
After feeling a little stressed and nervous on their wedding day, Naina and Adam headed to the Sunshine Coast for a few days to relax, unwind and just enjoy being newlyweds.
Telia was on a mission, and that mission was for them to buy a house together before getting married.
“I had told Keith we couldn’t afford a ring or to get married until we bought a house”, Telia recalls.
So Keith (and the ring he had already bought), waited patiently, but when they finally bought their house in 2019, he seized the opportunity and proposed –in the kitchen while they were cooking dinner!
Originally meeting each other at the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival in 2015, they now looked forward to planning their wedding, with the date set for August 2020. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite go to plan, with COVID forcing a lockdown the week of their wedding! Telia and Keith were so upset but could do nothing other than postpone their wedding. The new date was set for April 2021. That wasn’t the end of it though. To turn their situation into a positive one, they decided to go ahead and get married on their original date anyway – just in their own backyard.
reallife weddings
“We are so glad we did” says Telia, “it was awesome being able to get married all over again in April.”
The lead up to their wedding had the boys enjoying a trip to the Gold Coast for a bucks party involving golf, VR and partying, while the girls hens night included a life drawing class, followed by a limo ride and dinner. When their “second wedding” day finally arrived, it rained in the morning, but the afternoon was all clear skies. They were both looking forward to having their family and friends join them at their outdoor wedding venue, Walkabout Creek, chosen by Keith for its lovely rainforest vibe. Their celebrant, Ted Johnson was back again to marry them for a second time, having married them eight months ago in their backyard.
“He is the most charismatic person and so much fun” says Telia, “he ordered a ceremonial certificate for our second wedding, so we had something to sign for the photos, but also as a memento for the day.”
They also wrote their own vows that were special to them, and her father’s speech was particularly meaningful to her.
Unfortunately, COVID was not done with messing up their plans just yet, as the magician they had booked came down with COVID just before their wedding. Luckily for Telia (who loves magic), his colleague, Nick Kay was flown in from Victoria to replace him. “And he was fantastic!” she says.
best part was marrying Keith twice
reallife weddings
Apart from their magician, their photographer and videographer were also prioritised. They saved on costs by going to the flower market and making their own beautiful bouquets the night before, and they also saved on transport costs by using cabs, as no-one saw them arrive or leave from the venue on the day.
“We spent the most on photography and videography because they are the memories to keep” she says, adding that Say Milk were fantastic!
“They tick all the boxes with brilliant communication and happy, personable staff. Richard listened to everything we asked for and worked with us to capture all the beautiful memories from the day.”
All of their guests loved their wedding, and commented on how much fun Ted was, both as their celebrant and MC. And Telia says their reception venue was amazing, adding that Jaya and the team at Walkabout Creek helped them with planning, set up everything perfectly, and provided great food! Rather than retiring as their wedding reception drew to a close, Telia and Keith partied on with family and friends at a massive house they hired through Airbnb.
On their honeymoon, they took in the sights of South Australia, flying into Adelaide and then hiring a car for two weeks. Driving to Mt.Gambier, they followed the coastline, visiting the small towns along the way up to Kangaroo Island, then to the Barossa Valley, before heading back to Adelaide. Being 20 weeks pregnant at the time, Telia couldn’t enjoy the boutique beers that Keith enjoyed at the Robe town brewery, nor could she do wine tasting at the Barossa Valley, however she enjoyed many other aspects. “There were so many highlights about the trip” she says. Her favourite was visiting Mt.Gambier. “It has some fantastic tourist locations around and the caves are awesome” she recalls.
Telia and Keith’s wedding advice:
“Don’t compromise on your must haves, just work out what’s not so important and make the cuts there to have the bits you want. Don’t listen to other people’s opinions about your day; if spending heaps of money on the flowers or the dress is important to you, go for it!” “We would do it all again! Honestly, the best part was marrying Keith twice.”
The tradition of not seeing your partner before the wedding may seem old-fashioned to some couples, but others find it adds excitement and anticipation to the occasion. Victoria and Brendan wanted to keep it traditional, so chose not to stay with each other the night before, nor did they have a first look. Victoria says it felt very special.
“I really enjoyed the first moment of walking down the aisle and seeing Brendan, knowing I was about to marry him” she adds.
Originating from Melbourne, Victoria and Brendan first met at high school in year 10. They became best friends, and by the end of year 12 their relationship status was official. Victoria recalls Brendan’s proposal which was very romantic and unexpected.
“I came home from work one evening and Brendan had lit candles all around the house” she says. He had made a video of all the memories they had shared over the years, which were playing on their TV, and he also made dinner which was sitting at the table with Victoria’s favourite champagne. “Our cheeky dog Lola was trying to eat the pasta off the table as he was proposing which was very funny” she recalls.
reallife weddings
Due to COVID, they ended up having ample time to plan their wedding – close to 3 years! But it was worth the wait when their wedding day finally arrived. Their 80 guests from Melbourne and Brisbane were able to join them in celebrating their special day, and they were not disappointed, with a beautiful full 3 course meal and unlimited alcohol awaiting them.
Customs House was “AMAZING!” says Victoria. “We both fell in love with the venue when we first saw it.” Customs House staff assisted with lighting for photos, made sure to put food aside for Victoria and Brendan when they were busy chatting or taking photos, and they even followed Victoria around, carrying the train of her wedding dress on the day. “I could not fault the service we received from the venue” she remarks.
Their photographer, Bex from Raw Design Media, was fantastic, says Victoria. “Bex was a pleasure to work with and made us feel extremely comfortable on the big day.” And their lovely celebrant, Genene Deakin really stood out and made them both feel excited to get married!
With every part of the day feeling special to Victoria, she says that what surprised her was how surreal the day feels. “It is like a pinch me moment when you get married, and you feel very special on the day!”
reallife weddings
She acknowledges how incredibly lucky they were to have the generous help of both of their parents, who contributed to making their dream wedding day come true.
Victoria and Brendan spent their first night at Capri by Fraser in the city and then honeymooned at Airlie Beach, exploring the islands of the Whitsundays. Staying at The Mirage and Peninsula Suites, Victoria reveals a highlight for her was snorkelling for the first time and seeing all the colourful fish up close!
Victoria’s wedding advice:
“My best advice would be to make sure you enjoy the day! Before I got married, so many people told me that the day can be so stressful and go so fast. I did not feel any stress at all, and I think that was because I had such a fantastic venue! Also, make sure you take in the moment on your wedding day of how special the day is, it goes so quick!”
“We are so excited for the future together with our beautiful dog Lola, and the potential to add some additions to our family (do not get excited yet, Mum and Dad, lol)”

PHOTOGRAPHY
Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make when planning your wedding. Whoever you choose will be in charge of creating lasting memories of your special day, so take into account the style, special effects and quality of the photographs you would like. Your photography requirements are unique, so it is important to choose a photographer that reflects your personal style and meets your wedding needs.
PHOTOGRAPHY trends
RELAXED WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Candid style shots are still popular with couples leaning towards a more authentic look to their photos - less formal, posed type shots and more relaxed, natural, free form images.
NATURAL ENVIRONMENT PHOTOGRAPHY
Taking advantage of the natural beauty surrounding them, photographers are creating some breathtaking photos for weddings. With these shots, the couple are captured within a setting that shows them to be a small part of a much larger environment. This connection with nature produces powerfully emotive images. Couples are also taking advantage of Drones to capture stunning aerial shots of them in the Natural Environment from a whole different perspective.
SAME DAY EDITS
Same day edits offer entertainment at your reception for your guests. They will love watching a slideshow of the day! Just make sure that your photographer doesn’t miss out on good photo opportunities due to being busy making the slideshow. If more than one photographer is shooting your wedding, then there will be no need for concern. It’s a great idea as long as the important stuff on the day is still being captured.
POPULAR BRIDE SHOTS
As well as the couple’s first look, a first look with the bride’s father is also popular, as are father-daughter dances, and amazing veil shots - the longer the better!
Elegant and timeless photography for modern lovers
We combine an appreciation of timeless, classic photography, with a warm and professional approach to create visual storytelling that captures your most meaningful memories. With 20 years of experience, you can count on us to tell your love story in an authentic way, intentionally capturing the best of you both.

PHOTOGRAPHY trends
THE FIRST LOOK
The first look is still a popular trend where couples meet up before their ceremony. The sense of anticipation makes for emotional, powerful and natural pre-wedding photos.
The father-daughter first look is also popular with those who share that special bond with their dad.
NON-TRADITIONAL WEDDING PARTIES
Uneven bridal parties e.g., where the bride may have more bridesmaids than the number of groomsmen. Also popular is the trend where brides might have a “brides man” rather than a “maid” and the same for the groom. Plus animals are becoming more popular, sometimes even replacing the bridal party altogether.
EDITING STYLES
THE FINER DETAILS
Producing memorable photos capturing those finer details. Close ups of the wedding table, flowers, rings etc add extra colour and beauty to a wedding album and can produce highly emotive images despite not having a person in the photo.
Do you like black and white, natural, moody or boho (orange toned) inspired photos? Subtle differences in editing styles can make a difference to your finished album.
LIGHTS CREATING PHOTOS
By this, we mean actual lights strung around a couple to create a photo at night.
CANDID GUEST CAPTURE
While candid shots of the couple are popular - so too are shots of the guests. Whether they are captured enjoying the wedding ceremony or reception, these candid shots highlight the atmosphere of your special day.

PRE-WEDDING CELEBRATIONS
There are a number of celebrations to enjoy before your big day comes around. Traditional events include an engagement party, a bridal shower, kitchen tea and the ever popular hens and bucks party!
There are two rules:
1. If you have an all night dusk till dawn outing, don’t hold it on the eve of the wedding.
2. Enjoy yourself!
HEALTH & BEAUTY
Your health, hair and makeup play an important role in contributing to the overall look for your wedding day. Preparation can start as soon as you’re engaged, as hair and makeup trials, health plans and treatments often take place weeks or even months prior. Take the time to look at various options so you’ll feel happy and confident on the day.
CAKES
Your wedding dress, your chosen venue, your stationery, your transport; all of these things combine to communicate the style of your wedding. The same goes for your wedding cake. A work of art, it proudly sits atop it’s pedestal revealing your unique wedding style to guests as they arrive at your reception. As well as looking amazing, your wedding cake should taste exceptional, so if possible make an appointment to sample a few different flavours to find that perfect blend.
OUR TIP
Allow your cake designer to organise the delivery of your wedding cake to ensure it gets to your reception intact.
RINGS & JEWELLERY
The exchange of rings is the most traditional expression of your love for one another.
Remember when selecting your engagement or wedding ring, they will be worn for the rest of your life, so think carefully about your investment. Make sure the ring is comfortable to wear and that the metal, style and finish fits your lifestyle and is a perfect reflection of you. When selecting the stone, particularly a diamond, the four most important characteristics to look for are the cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. While the diamond is the most traditional choice of gem, thee are lots of interesting coloured gems if you prefer, to suit and enhance your individual style.
our artistry YOUR VISION

BOMBONIERE
It is a nice idea to leave your guests something to take home as a token of appreciation for their attendance and gifts. ‘Bomboniere’ is an Italian word meaning ‘sweet favour’ (French Bonbonniere), and in Australia the word has come to represent the small gift the married couple gives to each reception guest. Traditionally a bag of five sugared almonds to signify health, wealth, happiness, long life and fertility, bomboniere now takes many forms
ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainment is the perfect ingredient to complete your wedding day and there are so many different options available.
The right entertainment will set the mood, highlight the day’s proceedings and create a special harmony to share with all those lucky enough to be celebrating with you.
Whatever form of entertainment you choose, employ experienced personnel who understand your specific needs.

CAPTURE YOUR STORY WITH VIDEOGRAPHY
Your wedding video will be the most detailed reminder of your wedding day. Most couples find it an amazing experience to look back after a few years and re-live the big day. Video captures many small things that most people forget, or don’t even see on the wedding day. As wedding videos are very popular, you will need to book a good videographer early. The best advice is as soon as you can - at least six and preferably twelve months prior to your wedding day.
VIDEO REPLAY
Most brides and grooms spend months of planning for their special day, making sure every single little detail is perfect. Then on the day, they are usually too busy to take it all in! The day goes so fast and before you know it, it’s time to leave the reception with your new spouse. If you had a videographer though, the highlights, the things that made you laugh, the things you didn’t even see on the day, your friends and family celebrating with you, your vows, the toasts, plus all of the little things that came together so well on the day, can be watched later and relived as often as you please. Plus if you have close family that can’t make it to your wedding, what nicer way than to surprise them with highlights of your wedding so they can share your experience. While your photographer will take those all important photos for your wedding album, your videographer will be capturing everything in between.
Transport can be as simple as decorating the best cars you, your friends and family have to offer, or as unique and charming as a horse drawn carriage, fleet of vintage cars, BMW convertibles, Chrysler 300C’s or a stretch limousine. But it doesn’t end there; buses, motorbikes and even helicopters have been used to create an awe inspiring entrance.
Arrangements to and from the wedding ceremony usually only differ in that afterwards the bride and groom will travel together.
Organising wedding transport is usually a task that the groom, best man or groomsmen organise. With a number of different styles of vehicles available, you should have no trouble choosing one that reflects your overall wedding theme, however book as early as possible as they are popular and you don’t want to be disappointed.
RECEPTIONS
You’ve said your ‘I do’s’, now it’s time to celebrate! There are limitless possibilities when it comes to selecting your wedding reception venue. Regardless of whether you choose to have a traditional or modern wedding, pick a reception venue that will suit the formality, theme and ambience of your wedding

YOUR RECEPTION - order of events
The reception usually runs in a fairly set order, however you can arrange the evening’s proceedings in a way that best suits you both.
Guests arrive at the reception and are served light refreshments.
The bridal party arrives slightly later (after having photographs taken at another location) and are served canapés and drinks separately while the guests are seated.
The bridal party enters the reception. Your MC may play some upbeat music and introduce them or they may just take a seat.
The MC announces the couple’s entrance and guests are asked to stand up and cheer the newlyweds.
Entrees and Mains are served.
Toasts and speeches may be given during or after dinner, with a speech traditionally given by the father of the bride, the groom, and the best man.
After the toasts and set speeches are given, the MC asks if anyone else would like to speak.
Telegrams and messages are read by the best man.
The cake is cut by the couple after dessert.
Traditionally the bridal waltz is the first dance of the evening led by the newlyweds as they have their first dance as a married couple. The bridal party and the parents of the newlyweds then follow them with other guests finally joining in (you might like to add in a father-daughter dance and/or mother-son dance).
The rest of the night is normally spent dancing and catching up with friends and relatives.
Traditionally, before the bride leaves the reception, the MC will announce the throwing of the bouquet.
The couple then say a quick thank you and goodbye to their guests before their departure. You may like to streamline the speeches (more time for dancing), add in a fun activity, have a sparkler send off, or maybe host an after-party - the choice is yours.
HONEYMOON & ACCOMMODATION
A honeymoon has traditionally been the time when newly married couples relax and recuperate after their wedding. Often taken in exotic or romantic locations it allows the newly married couple to enjoy an intimate holiday together before returning to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Some couples with busy schedules or budget constraints may choose to just have a ‘mini moon’ which is a short trip taken to a destination relatively nearby, leaving the honeymoon to a later date when they have the time and budget. Whether a honeymoon or mini moon, reservations should be made as soon as you start planning your wedding, particularly if the destination will be experiencing it’s peak season at the time of your getaway.
Before you embark on your honeymoon, it’s a good idea to choose somewhere special to stay on your wedding night; preferably close to your reception as you may not feel like travelling too far. While that gorgeous little cottage in the woods may seem like the ideal ‘ first night’ spot; after a two- hour drive, you will probably just want to go to sleep!
Flowers, chocolates, champagne and a spa bath can make your first night together as a married couple extra special, and many accommodation venues provide these as part of their special honeymoon packages.
