As we celebrate 17 years of ruling the skies, it is an opportune moment to reflect on IndiGo's trailblazing journey, marked by remarkable firsts and numerous achievements that have solidified its position as India's leading airline. IndiGo has consistently been at the forefront of innovation and progress, setting new benchmarks in the aviation industry. In 2005, IndiGo made history by placing a massive order of 100 Airbus A320s, signalling our intention to transform air travel in India. In 2015, we became the first airline in the country to induct the Airbus A320 NEO (New Engine Option) into our fleet. The A320 NEO's fuel efficiency and reduced carbon footprint set a new standard for ecofriendly aviation, reflecting our unwavering commitment to sustainability.
In the years that followed, IndiGo continued its journey of firsts with groundbreaking additions to our fleet. The Airbus A321 NEO allowed us to expand our capacity and enhance the flying experience for our passengers. Our pioneering spirit didn't stop there. In 2017, IndiGo ventured deep into the heart of the country with the induction of ATR aircraft - enabling us to connect remote regions and smaller cities.
IndiGo was honoured with the flag of India, a distinction typically reserved for national carriers, during the opening ceremony of the airport at Deogarh under the UDAN scheme and I had the privilege of receiving it myself on behalf of IndiGo from our honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.
With the last aircraft order, IndiGo is set to build a robust fleet of over 1,000 aircraft, a feat that translates into extensive job opportunities for a large population. IndiGo's growth not only strengthens its presence but also contributes significantly to the aviation industry's workforce.
The foundation of our success lies in our relentless focus on operational excellence. From the very beginning, we realised that being on time was a cornerstone of a great flying experience. IndiGo continues to shine in the global aviation arena, consistently securing the number one position for on-time performance (OTP) among the top 10 airlines in the world for four months this year. IndiGo's focus on punctuality ensures that passengers reach their destinations on schedule.
But our success goes beyond operational efficiency. It is the dedicated team of pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and ground staff who have steered IndiGo's success over the years. Their passion for aviation, unwavering commitment to safety, and warm welcome to every passenger on board have become the essence of our identity. I am also immensely proud to share that IndiGo holds the distinction of employing the maximum number of women pilots in the world.
However, as we celebrate these significant moments, we must also acknowledge the unprecedented challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, the resilience and commitment of the IndiGo team shone brighter than ever. Amidst various trying times, IndiGo rose to the occasion, showcasing resilience, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to its core values. Notably, Operation Ganga became a shining example of compassion and national duty as IndiGo operated 42 flights, bringing back over 9,200 Indian citizens to their homeland.
This airline has not only been my workplace; it has been a second home, a place where passion and purpose converge. To our passengers, we promise to keep soaring higher, striving to create an even better flying experience with each passing day. Your satisfaction is our ultimate reward. I thank you for being a part of our journey.

Fact
Kolhapur gets its name from a legend that says Goddess Mahalakshmi killed a demon named Kolhasur, who used to oppress the local people. But before dying, the demon made a wish that the place be named after him.
