Earth’s the right place for love:
I don’t know where it’s likely to go better.
I’d like to go by climbing a birch tree
And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk
Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good both going and coming back.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.

behind the work: I love the impressionists for the emotions that the light, color and motion in their work evoke. I did not, however, seek to imitate them. I was on a different creative path. Photo-impressionism grew out of my experiments using digital imaging technology to manipulate my personal photographs to serve as “digital sketches” for a series of paintings I had envisioned. But soon these “sketches” took on a life of their own.
