PERSONAL WORK
THE FUTURA SERIES
HQ
(1)
MEDIUM | Copic markers, pencil, and pen on paper, 6½”x 8½” CONTEXT | One piece from a series exploring the idea of sprouted buildings as they take on natural forms.
MODERN SKY SCRAPERS (2, 3) MEDIUM | Copic markers, pencil, and pen on paper, 6½”x 8½” CONTEXT | The shape of modern sky scrapers. These pieces are part of my exploration of what the future of cities might look like. I experimented with ways to soften the edges of buildings—as if they sprouted from the city scape.
OLD TREE
(4)
MEDIUM | Pencil on paper, 8½”x 11” CONTEXT | The old tree with its bends and sharp angles, reflects the same design language of my buildings.

THE FAVELAS
MEDIUM | Trimble SketchUp, matboard hot-glue and cardboard SCALE | SketchUp model units–675 square feet, physical model 6”x 8” CONTEXT | During sophomore year I pursued an independent study that explored how to improve living conditions in the Favelas of Rio. I developed concept housing that maintained the character of the Favelas while improving living standards. I created a Trimble SketchUp model and a physical model to represent my designs for presentation to the independent study panel at school. The SketchUp model also accompanied my article on Medium.

MONUMENTALS MUSEUM
(1)
MEDIUM | Copic markers, pen and pencil on paper CONTEXT | A rural, concrete, modern home, designed with the environment in mind.
SEASIDE TOWER
(2)
MEDIUM | Copic markers, pen and pencil on paper CONTEXT | An imagined urban seaside apartment building, with shared green space every two levels. I also wanted to give the entry the feeling of weightlessness even though it is massive.
SECLUDED HOUSE
(3)
MEDIUM | Copic markers, pen and pencil on paper CONTEXT | This is a simple concrete home in the forest aimed at providing a small family with seclusion from the city.
CULTURAL CENTER
(4)
MEDIUM | Copic markers, pen and pencil on paper CONTEXT | The idea behind this building was to create a multi-use space that could be used for performances, social events, or conventions.
ORIGINAL SIZE | All pieces–8½”x11” cropped for portfolio

MOUNTAIN HOME MEDIUM | Copic markers, pencil, and pen on paper, 8½” x 11” CONTEXT | The idea behind this rendering was to meld the house with the side of the mountain. The two interlock like a jigsaw puzzle, while juxtaposing each other.
12

THE URBAN COMMUNITY CENTER MEDIUM | Copic markers, pen and pencil on paper, 6½”x 8½”
VOLVO V60 NOSE MEDIUM | Pencil and white pencil on paper, 6½”x 8½” CONTEXT | Two pieces in my sketchbook that reflect a similar style and form. Both the car and the building evoke the sense that they are moving. The car reflects the alertness and athletic stance of a cheetah, as it was designed with spirited driving in mind.
14
STOOL & MID-CENTURY CHAIR MEDIUM | Colored pencil on paper, 8½”x 11” CONTEXT | The challenge with both pieces of furniture was to bring the metallic reflection to paper. The stool was inspired by a field trip to Boston, in my art class. The chair was inspired by midcentury pieces I had seen at the MFA, and by seats in cars from the 70s.
15
A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD MEDIUM | Copic markers, and pen on paper, 8½”x 11” CONTEXT | I did a short study on cubist homes as I was learning the basics of two-point perspective.

ARTWORK & CERAMICS
SELF PORTRAIT MEDIUM | Paper, pencil, charcoal on paper, 17x 11 CONTEXT | As a Massachusetts Art All-State participant, I was asked to create a self-portrait. I considered drawing a picture of something that represented my essence like a building, for example. Having never created a self portrait, the challenge was intriguing. The beginning was daunting, but by the end I had a deeper understanding of light, form, and most of all myself.
20
21
MEDIUM | Clay Green Vase: 2”tall x 2½”wide Unglazed Vase: 3½”tall x 2¼”wide Bowl: 1½”tall x 4”wide CONTEXT | While my schedule did not allow for a clay class, it is a medium I wanted to learn. We are fortunate at school to have clay resources, so after checking in with my art teacher, I learned how to throw on the potting wheel during my few free blocks. These pieces are the result of my exploration.
22
22
PEONY IN PITCHER MEDIUM | Canvas and acrylic paint, 15x 20 CONTEXT | Our assignment in art class was to do a fall inspired piece. Rather than doing the typical pumpkin, I decided to do a flower. To reinforce the autumn vibe, I used a warm pallet and started with a yellow base, working in a few cool colors in the metal pitcher. 23
INTERNSHIP TSOI KOBUS DESIGN 60 STATE STREET, BOSTON MA
CAPE COD HOSPITAL MEDIUM | Matboard, prepared in Rhino, laser cutter CONTEXT | Two physical models for a new Cape Cod Hospital made during my internship at Tsoi Kobus Design. The challenge was to simplify the Revit model by bringing it into Rhino, to convey the important points of the design language to our clients. SCALE | The model is in 1"= 50' scale and it is ~6"x 5"
26
THE MENINO LOBBY MEDIUM | Trimble SketchUp CONTEXT | During my internship at Tsoi Kobus Design, I was asked to model the existing conditions of the soon to be renovated Menino Lobby at Boston Medical Center. This model was created from plans and site visit photos. The rafters were rendered by a colleague using Grasshopper in Rhino. I modeled the X-braces detail on the mezzanine floor in SketchUp.
