I am concerned with the way in which we engage space; How we mediate our climate, traverse building and city thresholds, where we gather with friends, where we raise and teach our children and how we develop our sense of community (both a physical & psychological sense). I revel in the discovery of new ideas and ways of thinking and embrace the opportunity to learn invaluable architectural lessons. As such, I am considering for research topics which are steeped in sociology and tectonics, with each option having a focus on the development of physical space through either of these channels.

PROPOSED MUSIC MUSEUM
The proposed music museum will be a link on the chain of icons located along North Parade, slotted in between the newly constructed Bolivar Centre and the historic Theatre Bar. The proposed structure will draw passersby onto the continuum where they will experience a series of themed spaces as they journey along. SITE PLAN LINEAGE Jamaica Music Museum 2013|2014
Ground Fl. Plan
Music in generative design In keeping with steel pan’s festive history, music for the instrument tended to be composed in a major key. With ‘Pan in A-minor (Am)’, Kitchener boldly challenged his contemporaries to experiment with the music of their beloved steel pan. Today ‘Pan in A-minor’ is the foundation of steel pan musical education and has been covered thousands of times by steel pan bands across the world. It is only fitting that it would be one of those chosen as the genesis of a monument to Caribbean music. The piece is an exiting and tumultuous one rife with the tingly sounds of the steel pan and counteracted by the undulating regularity of the bass. Excitement, conflict, layering, undulation, repetition, continuity and lightness are all themes identified from the music Initially, the repetitive and reverberative qualities of the music manifested in a series of solid and planar iterations. This however did not take into account to lightness of sound produced by the steel pan. Gradually moving away from solid masses, the forms became more skeletal and open. The implied forms and spaces would become the main influencers of the movement and experience of the user, surrounding them without entrapping them. The resulting installation was a series of repeated translucent pipes intended to be placed on a greenfield site; carving the earth it is nestled in to fit its precise undulations. This strong ground plane creating an additional layer of movement and rhythm. Explorations of forms done through a series of aluminium wire models, final piece (in orange) done at 1:50.
