The Kusintha Collection Kusintha means change or transformation in Chichewa, the main language of Malawi. In a time when our lives have had to close up and in, we chose to look inward and consider what world we .want to continue building for the women who make Mayamiko pieces, and for those who wear them. The Kusintha Collection is designed for women ready to go out in the world and act to change it into one we treasure, respect and celebrate as the great common it is, and that we share we those who came before and will come after us. As ever, each Mayamiko piece is made for joy and with love and care. We hope you’ll feel joyful and empowered wearing the Kusintha Collection
Joyful collections, responsibly made. Born out of a desire to bring joy to the wearer and the maker , Mayamiko produces clothing , accessories and home-ware made by talented artisans all over the globe. With social and environmental responsibility at our core, we design for the global modern citizen who wants a joyful and lasting wardrobe. Garments in this collection are crafted in our zero-waste, solar powered workshop in Malawi, where we invest in training and empowering disadvantaged women in the community through the work of our charity, Mayamiko Trust. Textiles are sourced from the local market , from a group of women . traders, and while this year we have not been able to bring in certified textiles because of the pandemic, we have invested to support the local communities even further, with a Covid 19 awareness programme and large donations of masks to the community. Off-cuts are transformed in reusable sanitary pads and masks.
