Introduction •
This was an art project where we created a poster campaign to give the youth a voice. First, we had a meeting where we discussed the whole project, what we would be doing and got to know each other. Next, we went to local schools, colleges and organisations and we created art with a message. Each participant created a poster with a picture and a slogan, expressing something they would like to change about the world in their own words. Finally, we finished with evaluation and presentation to share our work with the community. We did this because we wanted create awareness of problems that effect people around Cork city and to give us more of a voice and a new way to listen to each other. Basically to empower the youth!

This project was done as a European Youth Initiative. Did you know that any group of young Europeans (aged 15 - 30) can apply for significant project funding under the Youth In Action Programme? Youth In Action is a programme of the European Union and is administrated in Ireland by Léargas. If you’re not afraid of a challenge and you have a good idea that would benefit your community, visit this website!

“This experience for me was fun. I got to meet interesting people and also work with them. I would like to do a workshop like this again, and hopefully would be able to do it with people half as fun as the group I was in.” - Kathlynn “This was a great experience for me. I gained a lot of skills such as public speaking, listening and communication.” - Hayley “I really loved doing these workshops. Who knew work could be as fun as this?” - Ali “This experience for me was the most brilliant experience ever. I enjoyed this more than anything. The best part was meeting lots of different people and missing school. I learned a lot through this Youth Initiative Project. Before I was frightened to do public speaking but after the Youth Initiative I feel a lot more confident and comfortable. If I get another opportunity like this, I will definitely do it again.” - Tahmina “I really enjoyed the workshop and it was a good experience. I learned how to communicate better. I also enjoyed helping people with all different materials.” - Bríd
