Project 1 09/14-10/01 Folding Space

8cm

When summer vacation ended, I came to TKU department of Arch. With passion and desire, I encouraged myself to do the best in the first subject : Folding Space.

8cm

Teachers gave us a small piece of “circuit diagram”, Announcing us to define the lines and spots on it. It was tough in the beginning, Hard to draw the first line on the paper.

Link﹒Axis I defined the diffierent circuit into two kinds of lines. After this action, I found two main areas. These two separate areas initiated me to think “What will happen if I make the two areas communicated and connected to each other? ”

“ The process was hard,

You have to keep thinking, running with time, revicing the error.

Slowly, Your effort ,your design, is geing more and more delicate.”

“ Link﹒Axis ”is the main idea I want to tell everyone about my design. As I fold the two areas together, I link them and uses many other part of the paper to keep my model in a radian shape. I follow two rules while folding space : Visually clear and Axis.

Aggregation in Woods

Form 1 Utilizing the difference between splint and solid wood, fiing natural paerns in my design. Surrounding on the top of the figure desk, form 1 model created a new sensation by aggregating different woods together.

Form 2 Begin with the space between two pieces of woods, extend another parallel object as a hanger. Finding an interesting place for design, ďŹ t in and ďŹ ll in my design .

X-site of Organics

What is the inner space mean to you? As I observed my plant, lili, I found that the most moving moment isn’t the blooming flowers, is when it’s still a bud, with vitality and motivation.

Liďš’Live I was searching for the tender feeling, so I did lots of tests for reaching my goal. Irrigate wax, making the surface of casting model looks uneven but smooth.

After I ďŹ nished dealing with the surface, I kept thinking of what is the inner space mean to me? I cast the ice into the hot wax. Due to the natural phenomenon, it will creat a space by the mealting ice. The water inside the wax simbolize the vitality of lili bud.

Material Cube Cubic Materiality

I choose a base outside the studio. Observe it in the rain and sunny days, I found out that the fraction is very interesting. As I decided to make my cube regarding ‘force’ and ‘fraction’, I drew my imagination down into my concept.

Force & Fraction When I observed the base, I found out that the fraction can be trace back into three stage. The ďŹ rst stage of the cause of fraction is the unsmooth surface. Then, the bubble inside the concrete is the second reason that makes concrete fragile. The last straw which cause the fraction is the outside force. The connection between force and fraction is very interesting.

I use the iron to symbolize the path of force. The breach of the cube is symbolize the ratio of fraction. The iron use tacks to connect with the concrete. This two dierent object are put together harmony.

Project 5 12/11-01/10 Automata

Automata, the space that develop from the organic maers. I choose swan as the topic. I observe the movement of swan’s wings, and use the movement to create the structure of my model.

I observe the wing’s movement, found out that the form of its shape is triangular pyramid. I use transparency ďŹ lm to create soft tender, added sturcture into the model, and create the soft and strong space.
