Museum Page Talbot unsuccessfully sketched and therefore wanted to

find a way of capturing the a image with light sensitive paper that would make his sketches happen automatically.

Talbot went on to create the three primary elements of

photography; developing, fixing and printing. He discovered that although exposing the photographic paper to the light produced an image, it required a extremely long exposure time. But through pure accident William discovered that if he were to put the photographic paper a shorter exposure time, he was able to develop them into useful negatives using chemicals. The chemical solution removed the light sensitive silber and enabled him to see the pictures. Now discovering the negative he discovered that he was able to put any number of photos on to the negative for developing. He then named this the ‘ Calotype’.

The process of developing the photos goes as follows;

Prepare the paper, immerse the paper, wash the paper dry the paper. Next sensitise the paper in the dark room, Expose the paper in the camera, develop the paper using chemical solution then wash the paper, Finally ‘fix’ the image and then once again wash and dry the paper.

In 1843-44, Talbot set up the world’s First photographic

printing Facility at Reading. He did this so he could produce the photos for his work. Unfortunately the business was a complete failure, but the idea was very forth coming.

Museum Page William Henry Fox Talbot A Mathematician, astronomer and archaeologist Born 11th February 1800 Died 11th September 1877 From Melbruy Dorset Went to Cambridge university in 1817 Married Constance mundy in 1932 Became MP of Chippenham Inherited Lacock Abbey when he was 5 but didn’t live there until he was 27.

Fran Forman Fran Forman is a photographer and a artist, Who’s work was shown at Lacock Abbey. Her work is eye-catching and surreal. She takes the normal world and creates different interpretations changing the outlook of people, nature and air object. Fran studied art and sociology as a undergraduate- this may be where her illusive ideas came from.

Woodlands Page

In the two panorama’s I have tried to capture the rura tive and idyllic way. The first one captures the pond a tures some trees that were beside the

al woodland that surrounds Lacock Abbey, in a invenand the surrounding trees. In the second image it cappond overlooking onto a sheep field.

Woodlands Page

All the photos on this page were taken in the woodlands that surround Lacock Abbey, There are a range of flowers and textures throughout. I tried to capture the fragility of the area, showing the delicate flowers and wildlife.

Woodlands Page I captured these images are I thought that it captured the natural beauty of lacock Abbey, From different angles and different elements of the surrounding nature such as the lake, leaves and even ivy.

Cloisters page

Cloisters page

The cloisters were surrounding the Abbey. The space around me was highly architectural, I tried to show the space through the pictures to the left. Throughout the Cloisters the same theme was carried out- the theme of clarity and peace. There were parts where age had ruined the space but was still kept to a standard through restoration.

Abbey Page

The abbey was the home of William fox Talbot. Throughout the building you can see where he once lived and his creativeness flowed. From the type writer to the Piano. You can also see his achievements. I found the building to be extremely spacious and when walking through my first perception was completely wrong. The more you walked through the house the grander it became.

AbbeyPage

Over the double page spread I focused on mirroring each image, Mainly from black and white to normal colour. I wanted it to convey the idea of the two lives that this building has lived, one being as a busy family home to now; a museum to remember all the wonderful things that happened within it when it was a home.

Vintage Page

I did a vintage page, to convey the age of Lacock Abbey and to show how the sephia tones can change an image and add lots of emotion to the images.

Evaluation In this piece of work I particularly like the Woodlands pages, I like them due to the colours scheme throughout and also how the panoramas. The Layout shows a professional quality and therefore makes me like the aesthetics of the pages. This level helped me to work towards by final piece due to it having lots of wood and tree elements. The pages I don’t particularly like is the vintage pages, this is because of the spherized photos, I feel as though the filter effected the quality of the photo,.
