Taking student success higher! Best friends off to University It was a double celebration for best friends Holly Kidger and Jessica Darby, who both achieved an A* in Childcare and Education and secured top spots at two York Universities.

Holly & Jessica The pair have been inseparable since their first day at Middlesbrough College, and bonded over their shared love of education. Holly is heading to University of York on an Education Studies degree and Jessica is off to York St John to study Primary Education.

“We didn’t tell each other where we applied, so it was a total shock and such a coincidence when it turned out we’d chosen the same city to study in,” said Jessica. The two already have plans to house share once they’ve completed their first year in halls.

The right course for you

Apprenticeships A Levels Vocational Courses Vocational courses are more practical and hands on and will equip you with skills in a specific sector area which leads to a job or to University.

A Levels allow you to keep your options open with focused study of three or four subjects across two years. A Levels are a good option if you are looking to progress to University.

T Levels

T Levels are a new qualification which are an alternative to A Levels. This 2-year qualification will help you to build the future that you want.

10

www.mbro.ac.uk

You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% of your time in the workplace, putting the skills you’ve learnt into action.

Apprenticeships allow you to earn whilst you learn! You will come to College alongside your job. An apprenticeship is a great choice if you are eager to earn money straight away and build your skills alongside experienced staff.

Every T Level student will take an industry placement that lasts at least 45 days, helping you to gain valuable experience in the workplace and allowing employers to meet the new talent in their industry. T Levels provide the skills, knowledge and experience you need to open the door to highly skilled employment, higher level study or an apprenticeship.

Cameron Cameron Hawkes, a T Level Digital student has been working at Tascomp, an Industrial Automation Software & Systems company based in Billingham. Cameron has impressed his employer and has been offered a higher apprenticeship with the company. “My T Level has definitely opened doors for me and helped to kick-start my career.” Cameron Hawkes - T Level Digital Previous school: Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth

Don’t worry if you don’t have the entry requirements for a T Level programme, our team at enrolment can help you progress onto a T Level through our T Level Transition courses!
