Build your career in one of the biggest UK industries with a role in construction. Alongside traditional trades you will have the opportunity to pursue an apprenticeship in construction specialisms such as civil engineering.

LEVEL 2 BRICKLAYER

Length: 24-30 months

Occupational Overview Bricklayers lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures e.g. chimney stacks. They might also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects. The range of sites and projects that bricklayers will work on include large commercial developments, new builds in housing, alterations, extensions and restorations.

Entry Requirements If not already achieved, the apprentice will have to achieve Level 1 English and maths and take the test for Level 2 prior to taking their end-point assessment.

Progression On completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice will have satisfied the requirements to obtain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card at the appropriate level. LEVEL 2 CARPENTRY AND JOINERY

Length: 24-27 months

Occupational Overview This occupation involves carrying out skilled work, primarily using timber products, either on a construction site, or in a workshop, creating and installing building components.

Entry Requirements If not already achieved, the apprentice will have to achieve Level 1 English and maths and take the test for Level 2 prior to taking their end-point assessment.

Progression On completion of this standard, some apprentices may progress onto the Level 3 Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship or secure employment as a site carpenter or architectural joiner.

LEVEL 2 PROPERTY MAINTENANCE OPERATIVE

Length: 12-15 months

Occupational Overview Property maintenance operatives need to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests and team. They will understand the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment.

Entry Requirements If not already achieved, the apprentice will have to achieve Level 1 English and maths and take the test for Level 2 prior to taking their end-point assessment.

Progression Completing this apprenticeship programme with its transferable skills will enable progression into roles such as a technical specialist e.g. electrical or plumbing and supervisory and management roles e.g. facilities management, across a wide range of sectors. LEVEL 3 ADVANCED CARPENTRY AND JOINERY

Length: 12-15 months

Occupational Overview This occupation involves carrying out advanced skilled work, primarily using timber products, either on a construction site, or in a workshop, creating and installing building components. The advanced carpenter and joiner is able to undertake complex job tasks, requiring high levels of practical skills and knowledge, in addition to managing their own work and leading small teams.

Entry Requirements Apprentices must have completed Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery to progress onto the higher level.

Progression On completion of this standard, apprentice will progress to a wide range of employment opportunities, or move onto full or part-time further education.

The achievement of this standard will meet the requirement of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) ‘Advanced Skilled Worker’ standard, which is widely recognised as a ‘licence to operate’ in a skilled construction trade.

LEVEL 3 CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

36 months (+3 months EPA)

Occupational Overview This Level 3 Civil Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard is suitable for those who are going to work for clients, consultancies, and contractors to support in the design, creation and connecting of the world around us, making the villages, towns and cities work for the people that live in them, and are playing an ever-increasing role in safeguarding and improving the environment into our future. All candidates should have a creative and analytical outlook that can be applied to the workplace.

Entry Requirements Applicants are required to have gained a Level 2 English and maths (GCSE Grades 9-4 / A-C). Certificates will need to be produced at enrolment.

Progression This apprenticeship can progress to a number of apprenticeships including construction design, site supervisor and quantity surveying technician. LEVEL 3 BUILDING SERVICES DESIGN TECHNICIAN

36 months (+3 months EPA)

Occupational Overview A Building Services Design Technician provides assistance to engineers and other construction professionals in the development of cost effective technical and sustainable design solutions involving the production of threedimensional models, calculations, specifications, reports and drawings taking into account, where appropriate, prefabrication techniques. All candidates should have a creative and analytical outlook that can be applied to the workplace.

Entry Requirements Applicants are required to have gained a Level 2 English and maths (GCSE Grades 9-4 / A-C). Certificates will need to be produced at enrolment.

Progression Upon completion you will be able to progress in your career as a Building Services Design Technician.

LEVEL 4 BUILDING SERVICES DESIGN TECHNICIAN

36 months (+3 months EPA)

Occupational Overview Building Services Design Technicians are associated with the supervision of the installation’ commissioning or servicing of environmental technologies on construction projects and are based on construction sites with occasional time in offices. All candidates should have a creative and analytical outlook that can be applied to the workplace.

Entry Requirements Applicants are required to have gained a Level 2 English and maths (GCSE Grades 9-4 / A-C). Certificates will need to be produced at enrolment.

Progression This apprenticeship could progress to a degree apprenticeship in construction. LEVEL 4 CONSTRUCTION SITE ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

36 months (+3 months EPA)

All candidates should have a creative and analytical outlook that can be applied to the workplace.

Occupational Overview Construction Quantity Surveying Technicians are associated with the monitoring and control of costs and contracts on construction projects and are based on sites or in offices. All candidates should have a creative and analytical outlook that can be applied to the workplace.

Progression Upon completion of this apprenticeship you will have the skills to progress in a career as a Construction Quantity Surveying Technician. LEVEL 4 CONSTRUCTION SITE SUPERVISOR
