MCALLEN COUNTRY CLUB
DECEMBER 2021
Notes
From the GM Dear MCC Members, On behalf of all the MCC staff, a special thank you to everyone who participated in the Employee Christmas Fund. It is truly our pleasure to serve you all year-round.
Where did 2021 go? What a year it’s been, who knew we would still be dealing with COVID, but like everyone else, we figure it out as we go. The survey results are now posted on the website, just log on to review. Overall, the club did very well, but we have work to do. My next step is to review with the department heads and create action logs to address areas in need of improvement and expand on things we do well. As we make final plans for the 75th Anniversary Member Holiday Party, I hope you are able to join us. Again, the party starts at 7pm and goes to 9pm with the afterparty beginning with the conclusion of the fireworks presentation until 1am. Beverages will be on signature. The club will be holding a New Year’s Eve Party in the ballroom from 9pm-1am. Please see insert for more information. We look forward to another remarkable year in 2022! Lastly, you will notice a new look for our newsletter. With the help of Elara Marketing we will continue revamping our newsletter along with our social media. I look forward to seeing you around your club,
Jeff

Golf at MCC The Millennium Cup was contested on November 13th and 14th. Gold Team won the event collecting 60.5 points to the Green Team’s 35.5 points. There will be many interesting stories brought up and talked about, “if we could have done this.” or “can you believe the luck of this guy.” We will hear them for the next few months. In the end, Gold has won the series and their flag will be permanently put in the golf shop. Congratulations to Green Team Captain Travis Stansberry and Co-Captain Kenny Hartley. Their team played their hearts out but the putts weren’t falling and they just weren’t getting the breaks needed to win. Nobody likes to lose, but when I was on the 17th hole watching everyone finishing up, everyone was having a great time.
The camaraderie within each team was awesome. The Green Team was up there fired up, cheering each other on. It was great. Thank you, Green Team for giving it your all and putting it all out there. Congratulations to Gold Team Captain Yil Durak and Co-Captain Chuck Gomez. Their team saw their putts drop and got those much needed breaks. You just 06009 don’t win like this without Lady Luck smiling down on you. Great going Gold Team!! With this victory, the teams will be shuffled for the 2022 Millennium Cup. There will be a new Best of Five Series. The 2022 Captains, Chuck Gomez and Kenny Hartley have a year to scout and write down their best prospects for the new series. It will be interesting to see what happens next…
Golf at MCC McAllen Country Club hosted the annual Tour Championship. This event is a way to thank those players that participated in golf events throughout the year and played well. It is open only to the Top 32 money winners of 2021. There was $1,400 in golf shop credit up for grabs. We will have tournament results in our next newsletter. $100 in golf shop credit was awarded to Sunil Wadhwani for being this year’s money list winner.
The Golf Shop will have its annual Holiday Sale on December 4th. The shop will do our balloon sale, where a secret discount is placed within each balloon. Once you have picked out your items for purchase, you will pick out a balloon. Staff will pop your balloon revealing your discount. The discount amounts vary from 20-50% off your total purchase. Stop by the golf shop while you are enjoying your evening at McAllen Country Club.
Don't miss out!
Mike
TENNIS at MCC We would like to extend our gratitude to our members for making this year a success! We would also like to recognize our Board Members and Mr. Lowder for working diligently to keep our courts in excellent shape. With the holiday preparations in full swing, we encourage you to take the time to unwind by playing some tennis.
Just a reminder to get ready for 2022. On Saturday, January 22nd MCC is hosting it’s Men’s & Women’s Singles Club Championship for the right to the front Parking Spot. Next year MCC will host a Professional Men’s USTA Futures event here on our courts in October 2022. It will be a great event for adults and kids to see future tennis stars. If anyone is interested in sponsorship for the Professional Tournament, please contact the Tennis Shop for further information. Our MCC Women’s Doubles League will resume next year on Tuesday, January 4th at 8:45am. If you are interested in playing in our MCC Women’s League or our USTA Leagues please contact the Tennis Shop at 956-682-3459 for further information. Our After-school Program for kids will continue until the Wednesday, December 15th. It will restart on Monday, January 10th. Applications can be picked up in the Tennis Shop. This is for members only. Attention to all Pickleballers: Court 7 nearest to the parking lot, has permanent Pickleball lines painted in yellow on the court. If you have any questions concerning our programs, lessons or the ball machine, please feel free to call our Tennis Shop at 956-682-3459.
See you all on the courts,
Rudi
