June Newsletter M c AllenCountryClub 2024

Dear MCC Members,

We continue to work toward completion of our Strategic Plan. I know that I’ve been mentioning for some time now, but a thorough plan takes time to compile We have finalized our Mission and Vision Statements, Core Values, and Brand, but the Board is still working on the capital project component of the plan. Once complete, the entire plan will be communicated.

Please know that I am continuing to look for a new Director of Racquets. I have interviewed another potential candidate, but he did not work out, so the search continues I’d rather find the best candidate for your club, not the first. Frank Fanning is helping the search, but it takes time. As I’ve mentioned, if you need anything in the interim, please reach out to Hannia, Jackie, or Jeremiah; they are here for you.

Are you interested in serving on a committee? Please let me know as we are always looking for volunteer members to help advise both management and the board. Just email me at jeff@mcallencountryclub.com.

Please remember when booking your pool parties, be sure to start by reaching out to Veronica, the Director of Catering No party is too big or small With her help, parties can be organized, managed, and staffed accordingly without disrupting the experience of your fellow members.

I’d like to congratulate all the MCC Grads Great work!

Also, please know that we continue with a full membership with a short waitlist. As I have stated many times: what a great time to be a member of McAllen Country Club.

With that, I look forward to seeing you around your club,

Jeff

Dear Members,

I would like to share some exciting updates and reintroduce a few highlights that set our club’s dining experience apart For those who may not be familiar, let me introduce you to the Josper Charcoal Oven This exceptional piece of culinary craftsmanship uses premium Spanish hardwood charcoal from the white quebracho tree The charcoal used for the oven imparts a distinctive aromatic flavor to our steaks, elevating the dining experience with a delightful combination of smokiness and tenderness

As we transition to summer, we bid farewell to another mulberry season I am thrilled to announce that our homemade mulberry jam, made from club-grown and handpicked mulberries, is now featured on our charcuterie boards and will be included in a featured dessert. This seasonal treat adds a slight sweetness and a unique flavor, sure to delight your taste buds until our supply runs out.

Keeping with the summer theme, we are introducing an outdoor Whiskey and Cigar-tasting event. Come and relax after sundown with an Old Fashioned and a cigar near the lake with some lawn games. Look for the Whiskey and Cigars by the Lake flyer for more information.

Lastly, the pool season has officially started with new offerings. We now offer cold-pressed juices at the RAC Cafe. These nutrient-packed beverages are perfect for aiding in recovery after a game of tennis, a swim, or a pickleball match.

We look forward to continuing to serve you the finest culinary delights and seasonal specialties.

Dear Members,

Please remember that all golf carts must be returned no later than 8:15pm daily.

The 2024 Majors at McAllen – the Member-Guest was filled with many firsts. It was the first time we had a player make ten birdies in one round - Austin Lackey. It was definitely the first event to have three consecutive days of high winds, gusting over 30mph. After thirty-three years of playing in the event, it was the first time for Sunil Wadhwani to WIN!!! Congratulations to Sunil Wadhwani and Michael Culin, the 2024 Member-Guest Champions!!!

The Casi Medio Golf Tournament final round scores were incredible.

In Flight One, the team of Calvin Lackey and Kevin Hartley posted a final round score of 86. That is 21 under par over 27 holes. Calvin and Kevin’s total of 184 is the lowest in history. They finished two shots ahead of the team of Chris Wicker and Richard “BD” Wilson. Wick and BD shot 186 and finished second. That too was an amazing score.

In Flight Two, there was a tie at the top after 54 holes of golf The team of Tato Tamez and Steven Ghavidel and the team of Neil Chavez and Hernan Mireles posted 192 Playoff time!! For the Casi Medio, the rules called for a scorecard playoff. Tato and Steven made a net “birdie”, and they were victorious. Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to everyone who came out to compete. Full tournament results can be found on the tournament website www.mcc-2024casimedio.golfgenius.com. The tournament GGID is MLRFLE.

The Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifier was held in McAllen for the first time. Carlos Espinosa and his staff did an amazing job We had a few of our members compete in the event with a few doing well enough to advance to the next step towards Augusta National and the Masters In Girls 12-13, Madelyn Stansberry (Josh Stansberry) placed second. In Boys 7-9, Julian Garcia (Jose Garcia) finished in fifth place.

McAllen Country Club played host to the STPGA Prestige Tour on May 4th - 5th . This was the first time for the Prestige Tour in the Rio Grande Valley. The winner in the boys 15-18, Kyle Doolittle, posted rounds of 73-69 to win in a playoff. Kyle signed on to play golf for Sam Houston University. In the boys 13-14, Liam McGurk, posted rounds of 70-72 to win In the girls 13-18, Carmen Pate posted rounds of 75-77 to win
