Quotations from the Regatta Feedback The new Hyundai Marine Sports Centre is just magnificent and a tribute to all who have had the foresight and energy to make this project turn into a reality. In short, the venue works very well indeed, and those involved both on the facility and organisation of the regatta deserve all the accolades they receive. The feature that really marked this regatta out, was despite its size (bigger than the Olympic sailing regatta), was its informality and willingness to get things done, and congratulations to all involved. Hopefully an organisational blueprint has been created which can be used for other multi-class events. Richard Gladwell: editor Sail World
A long lasting legacy of this regatta will be the desire of these sailors to come to New Zealand to train more often at this time of year when it is winter in their own counties and to also encourage other classes to come to New Zealand for World Championships. John Clinton: Mackay Boats
The feedback I am hearing from my coaching friends is that this event will be hard to beat. Hamish Willcox: NZL 49er Coach
We had strong race management teams and the support I got from the others was tremendous. I found the experience to be exhilarating. Jamie Sutherland: Race Officer
The onland set up for the regatta was perfect. From the incredible logistics support to having a boat park that fit all the boats, with lots of launching, to the coach boat parking that was safe and close, it all worked really well. The media effort was enormous and groundbreaking. Anchored by the Sky Sport broadcast, the addition of the Sideline App teams meant that this regatta was the most comprehensively covered Olympic class regatta in history. 99 of the 120 races were live broadcast, 5-10 times what would be typical of a top-level Olympic class regatta. The 49er.org website also had 50% more hits than the previous peak usage at a regatta, so clearly the world was engaged. Ben Remocker 49er and Nacra 17 Class Association
