(KIDS 370N)

(Age 5, Entering kindergarten in the Fall) Includes more advanced activities for 5-year-olds who will enter kindergarten in the fall. Concepts include: days of the week, months, the alphabet, counting, simple math and patterns. We will draw, write, cut and glue, paint and work on art projects. A snack will be provided each day, so if your child has a food allergy, please let us know.

You will discover challenging and imaginative new ways to think about the classic fairy tales. After revisiting classic stories, students will wave their magic engineering wands to solve the problems characters face. Can you design a troll proof bridge, safely deliver the golden egg and engineer a new bed for Goldilocks? Can you help Hansel and Gretel trap the Witch, engineer a bow for Robin Hood and design an escape for Rapunzel?

(Ages 3-5, MUST be toilet trained) Traditional preschool activities will offer a week of learning friendship skills, the four basic shapes, colors, numbers and hands-on theme related activities planned just for preschoolers. There will be songs, stories, snacks, crafts, music and more. A snack will be provided each day, so if your child has a food allergy, please let us know.

Join in the fun as we build rockets, hot air balloons, and even marshmallow-launching catapults! We will be using a variety of materials such as K’Nex and craft sticks. Each day we will build something new, so come join us as we build some amazing machines!

Learn about the greatest artists of all time and create work inspired by them. We will learn about the world of Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. We will discover how we, too, can create like the greatest artists of all time! Learn what to do in an emergency or in case of illness: how to prevent accidents, playing with children of various ages, selecting safe toys and games and how to dress, diaper and feed infants. Upon completion, students receive a certificate from the American Safety and Health Institute. (Bring a $7 lab fee to first class)

Bait Shop Biology

(KIDS 339N)

Learn about the aquatic organisms that live in and near ponds and lakes of Nebraska. Explore water samples in class to observe microorganisms, earthworms, crayfish, minnows and more! Participate in a study of area lakes to determine if they are polluted. Be ready to get your hands dirty as you interact with interesting creatures from the bait shop!

Cooking with Science

(KIDS 363N)

Do you have an appetite for science? In this class, we will explore cooking through hands on science experiments. Students will eat their way through various exciting learning opportunities using elements like matter, solar power and many more fun interactive projects. Come hungry and ready to taste test this week!

Crazy Chemical Concoctions

(KIDS 212N)

Bring out the mad scientist! Join us as we learn the principles of chemistry while experimenting with ordinary household items. Come discover how and why ordinary supplies like vinegar, lemon juice, salt, sugar and glue can create bubbling, oozing, slimy substances sure to gross out your parents. We’ll have a world of fun while learning chemistry basics.

Do you enjoy cooking and learning about new things? Then this is the course for you! Learn to make foods from a different part of the world each day to eat and enjoy. In addition to cooking, we get to learn a little about each culture through dance, videos and other exciting activities. Create your own personal cookbook of your favorite meals.

Trampolines, Ferris wheels, and roller coasters - Oh My! Examine the engineering principles behind the construction of some of life’s most entertaining feats of design. Then put your design skills to work to construct mini-versions of these contraptions that can be taken home.

Explore the wonderful world of the human brain! Find out what part of your brain helps you talk, think, smell and feel. Answer questions to find out if you are right-brained or left-brained. We will talk about traumatic brain injury and why you need helmets and seat belts. Design and build a “helmet” for a pseudo-brain (raw egg) and drop it from a significant height to test your design. All age levels will get to dissect an actual sheep brain. What is Switzerland’s secret language? Where is the world’s largest country? Can anything grow on a land of ice? Come with us to tour the world and explore the nations! Every day will be a new adventure as we discover foreign lands and cultures, eat local foods and play games from other countries. Join us to find out more about the world around you! This class goes way beyond pencils and worksheets! We will review math skills, play math games and get moving as we solve problems. The problems you’ll solve will get you moving and thinking. Did you ever think you could do math AND have a ton of fun? Sign up for this class and you can! Indulge in a week full of minion FUN! Students will spend each day making and eating a minion snack, creating a minion craft, playing minion games and even learning to speak in minion! It’s everything minion - don’t miss out on the zany fun! Discover facts about the ancient Egyptians as you learn to draw faces, write your name in hieroglyphs and create artwork worthy of royalty. Jewels, gold and precious metals complete your regal artwork.

Roller Coasters and Rockets

(KIDS 367N)

Silly Stories

(KIDS 373N)

Snack Attack

(KIDS 368N)

Join us designing and building contraptions that are wild, crazy or simply defy logic. As young engineers, we will build our own mini roller coasters, protect raw eggs from cracking when dropped, make unsinkable boats, create kidsized geometric domes and shoot rockets into the sky.

Whether you are misunderstood like the BFG, spoiled like Violet, friendly like Charlie, rough around the edges like Miss Trunchbull, smelly like the Twits, imaginative like James, misunderstood like the Big Bad Wolf or determined like Willy Wonka; you will love learning about the characters in these stories. We will spend five days diving into the books by one specific author. Each age level will be exploring a different writer. Our week long adventure will include reading, watching videos, creating crafts and doing activities while we explore these specific authors.

Tired of the same old snack each and every day? Join the Snack Attack class to try, create and learn new recipes that are healthy and kid friendly. Create and consume new snacks each day. If your child has a food allergy, please let us know.

Under the Big Top

(KIDS 371N)

Lions, and tigers, and bears - oh my! You don’t have to wait for the circus to come to town to experience the fun of a carnival. Experience the circus without even having to leave the classroom with awesome math yard games and crafts that will make you want to come back for more.

Watercolor Art

(KIDS 386N)

Get comfortable with watercolor painting techniques as you learn a new art. Learn which tools to use and how to blend colors to create your own masterpieces.

Wildlife Adventure

(KIDS 374N)

Learn about wildlife that can be found right here in Nebraska. Each day, you will explore the habitats and characteristics of animals native to Nebraska. Discover animal features and adaptations through hands on activities with animal furs, tracks, skulls and more. Learn how to identify animals in nature by using field guides and the different signs that animals leave behind. Make casts of animal tracks to take home.
