The Venue McCOLL CENTER FOR VISUAL ART McColl Center for Visual Art is a nationally acclaimed, non-profit contemporary art center dedicated to connecting art and artists with the community. Located in a historic, neo-Gothic church in Uptown Charlotte, the Center houses nine artist studios and over 5,000 square feet of gallery space, hosting artists from across the region, nation and world. Artists inspire critical thinking and positive change. They interpret the past and invent the future. McColl Center for Visual Art’s residency program offers artists a place to live, work and engage the Charlotte community.
The Event PALATE TO PALETTE, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6 at 7PM More than just another wine-and-cheese art opening, Palate to Palette is the signature annual event of the Contemporaries of McColl Center for Visual Art. This lively event pairs six artists with six different wines and spirits to form a unique relationship; a pairing of wine and art! Designed to take ticket holders on a journey for the senses, the event also features live music, delectable treats and creative cocktails. Now in its sixth year, Palate to Palette has truly earned its reputation as a "can't miss" event in Charlotte.
The Audience The Contemporaries of McColl Center for Visual Art are a vibrant, diverse group of art enthusiasts and artists whose events provide an exciting social avenue for exploration of contemporary art. Each member shares a desire to be an active participant of contemporary culture through intellectual stimulation combined with a seriously great party. Expected attendance at Palate to Palette 2013 is 375 of Charlotte’s young and young at heart. Palate to Palette 2012 sold out (to the disappointment of many) and generated more than $12,600 in art sales, 70% of which goes directly to the artist.
